Nice long interview. I loved the emphatic NO she says when asked if she has given up skating. She also says she has not ruled out another trip to the Olympics. She says the surgery was successful, very succesful. Her doctor and PT are very happy with the success.
She thinks Caroline Zhang is a future champion, ball of fire.

She says she doesn't regret anything and the process is more important than the goal. She thinks the successful people are not the ones that are always on top, but the ones who start climbing.
She answered several questions about her mission and relations between countries, attitudes about America and money, and spoke very well,very diplomatic. So proud of her. Thanks so much for posting this video. It was wonderful to watch.

It seems like another segment will air on the 28th, too. Can't wait to see it. Can anyone cap this interview?

That definitely was a nice interview...with the stuff regards to her future skating plans. Still find it an interesting prospect that she may be contending with the likes of the up-and-coming US juniors such as Caroline Z. if she pursues another run at the Olympics.

Studying political science is fun??? C'mon! -- well not for me at least. As a chemistry major, I remember using a summer to take a Poli Sci History course at a community college to get that easy "A" and that I wouldn't have to deal with that General Ed requirement during the regular semester.

Thanks Kathy for posting this interview. It is amazing to me that she is so graceful even in a difficult interview. I thought he asked several difficult questions and as usual Michelle answered with class and integrity. she is an excellent Public Diplomacy Envoy!

Thanks so much for finding the video and sharing! What a great interview. That's just one of the thousands of reasons why I like Michelle. She definitely knows how to handle herself under pressure!

Michelle did a great job. Did anyone else think the interviewer's tone was kind of...negative? I am trying to keep cultural differences in mind, but even so, I felt he was almost a bit antagonistic toward her in some respects. Not that an interviewer should gush all over her, but he did seem a little tough. She did a wonderful job and was very diplomatic in her responses.

And did you notice that he was trying to get her to say something like, "Oh, Russia is so great...they have the best skaters because they are the smartest and they train the best and have the best system and federation." Hello, Michelle is from America and is very proud of her country and what her own federation has done for her...she will say nice things, surely, about Russia, but isn't going to declare it superior to her home country.

In any case, good to see her in a more serious interview. And yes, the Christina Kwan thing was a hoot. Was Christina Kwan the one saying she is Michelle's cousin, or did the media just grab onto this and get the facts wrong? (I suspect the latter.)

In the article that Mathman and I were having fun with (on different boards), it was a media comment, so your suspicions are probably correct.

I couldn't believe that too! Finally, we are confirmed that the other Kwan is not Mk's cousin. I can't even believe local newspapers have not told us the truth.

Last night I heard FOG on the radio by (sting version) and it still made me feel sad inside but there is still HOPE. who knows, she might surprise us again like the 06 olympics. but hopefully she'll pull through.

Thanks for posting; it was a terrific interview. Mystery solved! Michelle knew about the rumor... so someone must've asked her about it and never bothered reporting the truth. Or maybe she or a family member or friend read about it here. Interesting. It's nice to hear from her directly that she's doing very well, and is thinking about competing again. I can only hope!
