Not sure if anyone posted about this, but Bondy wote an article, nothing new, titled,"In Kwan's mind, it figures" and there's a 1/4 page picture of Michelle in her Spartacus dress in the K&C at Nationals giving a thumbs up. Basically contains quotes from her teleconference. Only thing that was different than I have read was the ending,"Even with Kwan in the lineup (for the Games), the US women will have a hard time repeating their successes of recen Olympics. Irina Slutskya of Russia is considered the favorite, and there will be stiff competition from other Russians as well as Japanese skaters." Hm, wondering who the other Russian skaters are.
I love that even though Michelle wasn't at Nationals, she STILL managed to grab the spotlight, at least as far as the media is concerned!!!

I find this to be the most accurate, fair and to the point article I've read yet about Michelle's bye. The two things that other articles, pre and post Nationals, that have been ignored by most sports writers: (1) that her problem was in qualifying - not in the SP/LP (as casual fans seem to think); and (2) she still was at least half of the reason that there IS a 3rd spot for for her to petition for, and other skaters to long for. That includes Sasha, who could have ended up injured before Nationals, or on her backside in competition - which has happened before. Not likely, but possible nonetheless.
