"What she's doing is hard, but she's probably got a good reason," Boitano said of Kwan, who withdrew from her two Grand Prix events this season because of injured hip ligaments. "I can't talk about Michelle without showing my favoritism. She's my baby. If anyone can make the most of a situation, she can."

Awww! Then later in the article:


Boitano said he probably won't be at the U.S. championships next month in St. Louis, where the Olympic team will be determined, but might go to Turin to watch Kwan if his nerves allow.

"I practically had a meltdown in Salt Lake City," he said of her bronze-medal finish. "I want her to retire [from Olympic-eligible skating] so she can skate with me."

Well, Brian and I have something in common. There's no way I could be in the audience at the Olympics due to nerves. Another Awww. :hug

Kwan's agent, Shep Goldberg, confirmed Tuesday that she would compete Sunday in the Marshalls U.S. Figure Skating Challenge in Boston.

I was very reluctant to get excited over the earlier confirmation that Michelle will be at Marshall's, but upon reading the confirmation from the agent I can now jump around and do the moonwalk to the fact that we all finally get to see Michelle!!!! First and foremost, to the MK and BB naysayers, it's natural for BB to cheer for MK b/c they're both Americans (simpleton's reason, eh??). Second, they both admire and respect each other (much the same way most American Olympic medalists love MK). Third, it's not out of the realm of possibilities that MK can contend for the OGM, not only because of her history of delivering under the most intense of pressure (last season an exception, much as the 2003-2004 seasons were an exception for Irina b/c of her illness), b/c she will go out with a bang; it's just irrational to not give it her all in her last Olympic outing. Factor in the extra motivation after an injury (MK 1998 Olys, Nancy 1994, Chen Lu numerous seasons, Ilia Kulik 1994) and the stepping stone of the 2005 Nationals (which to most skaters is a more intense pressure cooker than Olys) where MK will have to skate against the likes of Sasha and Alissa and, technically speaking, Kimmie, and possibly the 2005 Four Continents Cup.
I really hate it when people say MK has nothing else to give or prove or lose, b/c thinking this way downplays her competitiveness. True she's accomplished a lot, but 2 brilliant programs at Torino that will satisfy MK, and of course her fans, will be just another icing on the cake.

Yah Brian! There are so many reasons to love this guy, still giving his all, at, what, 42? I used to wish he woud coach Michelle, especially when I learned that he had recommended Scott Williams to her. The only problems with that is he's too busy, and I don't think he has it in him to be stern toward Michelle, if required. He's such an :angel.

Recently watching so many ladies do "tano" doubles on the ends of their combinations or axels, I had a momentary secret desire that Michelle was stowed away with Brian learning the "tano lutz". I never would have said that, were it not for CoP. She doesn't need it to please me, but there's a NJS that seems to like them, a lot.

Go Michelle. I believe!

I'm a big fan of Brian's from watching (and rooting) for him AND from personal experience. Incredibly nice guy and he does know his stuff about Michelle.
