yeah, I was reading the news, and it's crazy how Seattle's getting snow! But don't forget that Eastern WA gets tons of snow every year ;) I'm excited to come home to WA for Xmas!

When I was a band geek in high school and college, we marched in cold nasty conditions a lot...that's Nebraska for you. In HS we marched in a Christmas parade every year with temps usually in the single digits. In college, the worst day ever was Homecoming when I was a junior. It was sleeting during our halftime show, and the wind was blowing so hard some of us were pretty sure it was going to blow us down.
So...I can certainly imagine marching in snow. Good luck. Remember layers always help--and you'd be surprised how many layers you can actually get under a band uniform!
BTW, we have about six inches on the ground right now and may get more tonight. Brrr....

so we only got like 1-2 in of snow or maybe 1.5 but i melted fast. and not all of stuck to the ground. so i had school. some of the "snow" was slush. i was hoping for a 3 day weekend.
tomorrow is band practice up north at an airport and the city we're practicing in is in the convergence zone so it'll be freezing. of course, they'll probably plow snow, but i dont want to be "skating"/marching in my dinkles (band shoes)
but no, we won't be wearing our band uniforms, just the shoes.

I wish I could get that excited about snow. The word snow where I live is pretty much considered a 4 letter swear word. We got a couple of inches last night. We had a white Thanksgiving last week. The only time I ever want it to snow is December 24, it can stay away the rest of the year, but it never does. :\
I used to love snow when I was younger and didn't have to drive, now its just a pain in the butt, though it does look prety on the trees. If only it would stay off the sidewalks, roads, and my car! :)
Enjoy your birthday! :D

We didn't get any down here in Vancouver WA. Fine by me. If I want to see snow, I look out the window at Mt Hood or Mt St Helens. :8

i was up in everett where we were practicing our parade block. it started snowing, then it started snowing and raining, then it drizzled, then as soon as we left it started snowing large flakes.
and the ground was wet and very slushy

I love snow... but it's because I never see it. I did get to see snow a couple of days before Thanksgiving... but it didn't last at all, didn't even stick! It's been raining all day... here's to hoping it gets cold enough to turn into snow!

Well, I am sitting in front of the fire with my hubby, looking out at about a foot of snow with 3-5 more inches forecasted for Sunday.
It was a classic lake effect storm. Snow only fell in the areas downwind of Lake Erie. I heard they have almost 2 feet east of us in what is known as the Snow Belt.
Rush hour Friday was horrendous. At least tomorrow fewer people will have to go out.

I'm a school teacher in Virginia, and I LOVE snow. Always have, and it doesn't hurt that I get a day off work when it snows.
Congrats on your snow- and anyone who doesn't like their snow just wish on down this way!
