Congratulations to them! (I mentioned in the "Forum Feedback" that this might really belong in "Spoilers".)

Since Lake Placid won't be on TV, it should be okay here in Skating Chat.

Official Senior FD results (with New Judging System point totals):

Here's the official site with links to results, etc.:

I was excited to learn that Jamie Silverstein was coming back to ice dancing. She and her partner, Ryan O'Meara, won the free dance at the Lake Placid Championships (http://www.ice-dance.com/events-results/reports/lakeplacid05/) last night. I hope that they do well enough this season so that I can see them on TV -- but there seem to be a lot of pretty good senior ice dance teams, so competition at Nationals should be something (especially with a berth on the Olympic team on the line). Here's a picture of Jamie and Ryan (http://www.ice-dance.com/events-results/reports/lakeplacid05/senior/photos/Senior%20FD/SilvOm.jpg) -- I think she looks great! I still remember the magical exhibition performance she and Jason Pekarek gave at 2000 Nationals. (And am kicking myself for letting the bad weather keep me from attending in person -- also missed Michelle's glorious performance of "Hands".)

Since Lake Placid won't be on TV, it should be okay here in Skating Chat. Yes, unfortunately, the Lake Placid Championships are never televised. They do have a webcast this year, but it is rather pricey ($25/day, $100 for the entire week's events). The website is rather extensive, though, with reports, photos, etc. I've also been reading the threads on FSU (http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=75) with "reports" from those who are watching the webcasts.

Congrats to them. Although I was a little sad they beat Loren and David. It should make for a very interesting Nationals. There are a lot of good up and coming dance teams that are looking to break through. It is too bad that Tiffany Stiegler and her partner weren't able to compete. I would have liked to see how they stacked up in this competitive field.

Thanks for the news and the links.Jamie looks great! I'm glad she is back.

Congrats to them Jamie and Ryan! Wow, there has been a lot of dance team swapping this year as many teams have broken up and paired up w/ a different elite partner. It'll be interesting to see what happens at Nationals with the 3rd spot wide open! (and the second for that matter if B/A don't get to go to the Olympics.)

Jamie looks great, and she looks SO much the same, just a bit older and more mature. GREAT to see her back, and I am excited to see what this team can do this next year. Congrats to them on their placement at Lake Placid.

1 Jamie SILVERSTEIN / Ryan O'MEARA 76.70 1
2 Loren GALLER-RABINOWITZ / David MITCHELL 72.39 2
3 Jennifer WESTER / Ddaniil BARANTSEV 71.40 3
4 Julia REY / Philip REY 69.77 4
5 Lydia MANON / Brandon FORSYTH 69.16 5
6 Kim NAVARRO / Brent BOMMMENTRE 68.61 6
7 Trina PRATT / Todd GILLES 67.97 7
8 Caitlin MALLORY / Brent HOLDBURG 65.23 8
9 Meghan MCCULLOUGH / Joel DEAR 64.42 9
10 Charlotte MAXWELL / Nick TRAXLER 61.43 10
11 Lia NITAKE / Yuriy KOCHERZHENKO 61.26 11
12 Kendra GOODWIN / Chris OBZANSKY

I had a bit more time this go around of checking this thread, so I looked at the full results. Interesting stuff in there...I mean, some of the names that pop out at me aren't up there...especially considering some of the so-called drama regarding the splits of some...like Manon/Forsyth in 5th(!!). I am wondering if she is having second thoughts, especially after the finish she had with O'Meara at 4CC's?? I know, it's early...but still. Kendra Goodwin down in 12(!!). Bommentre was Kendra Goodwin's old partner, right?? With his new partner, in 6th. Loren and David were out at Nationals last year, right? I know they did some GP events last year, if I am thinking right, Skate America?? And where did Pratt and Gilles finish?

A lot of fairly "top" names...surprised by their results, but happy for O'Meara and Silverstein.

Just checked FSU and found the top 5 finishers for the OD were listed (the official site doesn't have the results posted yet). No point values given, so I don't know how close these were, but here is the order of finish for the top 5:

1) Wester/Barantsev
2) Silverstein/O'Meara
3) Galler-Rabinowitz/Mitchell
4) Pratt/Gilles
5) Navarro/Bommentre

OK, the results are now posted (http://www.lakeplacidskating.com/ice_dance_championships/seniorod.htm) on the official site. Silverstein/O'Meara narrow beat Galler-Rabinowitz & Mitchell again (with Pratt & Giles less than a quarter point behind), but both couples were beaten by Wester & Barantsev. Here are the top 9:

Alissa's twin sister, Amber, was in the solo dance competition. Here is her picture:
www.ice-dance.com/events-...mberCz.jpg (http://www.ice-dance.com/events-results/reports/lakeplacid05/solo/photos/AmberCz.jpg) and it looks like she finished 2nd in the senior solo competition.

I thought I would point that out...didn't know if anyone else noticed. Did she try to make it to Nationals last year? And if not, when did she stop skating at the junior/senior national level?

Thanks for posting about Amber Czisny -- I didn't know that she was competing at Lake Placid. The last event I know that Amber competed in was the U.S. Collegiate Championships almost exactly a year ago, where she won her qualifying group (http://www.usfsa.org/Story.asp?id=26155) (Alissa won the other), was 2nd after the SP, and finished in third place; Alissa won all three portions of the competition, and Michelle Rosinski finished 2nd. Two months later she withdrew from the Eastern Great Lakes Regionals, where the top two finishers were the same as at the Collegiate Championships.

Jamie looked very relaxed and happy and she and Ryan had great coordination given how little time they've been skating together.

Wester and Barantsev were another happy surprise. They were so fast on the ice and she did a good job of keeping up with him. A lot of presence on the ice.

I also really enjoyed the Rays programs. Their FD had some very nice choreography and they skated it very well.

Jamie and Ryan are off to a good start. I'm sad to hear that Tiffany Stiegler and her new partner have had to turn down their GP offer. <!--EZCODE BR START--><!--EZCODE BR END--><!--EZCODE BR START--><!--EZCODE BR END--> This is no ordinary summer event that Jamie and Ryan have done so well at. I see some familiar names in there and the ice dancing roster, overall, was a solid field.

Coles, I heard that Sergei got into some cycling accident earlier in the summer. I wonder if it has to do with that?

Kendra Goodwin's current (and also former) partner, Chris Obzansky, has been on a two year Mormon mission, so their results could be because he's been off ice for a while.

Pratt and Gilles finished first, in Juniors, and 8th at Junior Worlds.

Yeah, I have a short clip of their FD from Lake Placid. He actually looks really good considering he was off the ice for 2 years. They just look a little uncomfortable and tentative. Goodwin also had some problem with her twizzles...she even put a foot down. But I enjoyed what I saw, so I hope they do well this season.
