Right now the hardest part is done. I have the music, and I’m working on all the elements. We have all the elements placed in the program, and I am comfortable where they are and what we are doing. I am in shape and skating through the program. I have been practicing on all the difficult level spins and everything fits.
---------------------------------------------------
Her statements are good to hear. She's comfortable with the element placements and she's in shape. :) I'd like to hear more about her jumps, though.
Also, it will be the 1968 Movie version of R & J. I'm not familiar with it. Is that a good thing or a bad thing??

It's the same music source she used for the exhibition.

Really? It's becoming a skating cheastnut. Poykio did her Lp last year to it, and Sasha has been using it as an exhibition for what seems like forever. It's her EOE.

Good to have it confirmed. Sounds like her and Morosov are working hard on making it a good competitive program.

I performed to the music as an exhibition program a couple of years ago.
And last year, and this past year.....selective memory?? :b
Well, good for her for choosing something she really enjoys. Comfort is her word of the day!

Also, it will be the 1968 Movie version of R & J. I'm not familiar with it. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?? Nino Rota, who also wrote the music for The Godfather, composed some very lovely music for that film. I think it suits Sasha. Here is a link (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000AGWLP/103-6921666-9128663?v=glance) - I think No. 6 is probably the music most people are familiar with.
edited to fix link

I am so sorry, I can't hold back...lmao at this journal entry. At the end she says it is all about giving a great performance, but then in the very next sentence she says it is all about sports.....I just don't understand how her entries come across so...fragmented. Those last three sentences (before she goes into the whole description of the movie) are just bizarre to me.
That said, I am sure her fans really appreciate having the music confirmed and having another update on how she is doing.

I have to admit I always loved this music. I hope this will give her the confidence to skate clean. I really want to hear about her new moves.

Attention Toepoint ITA. The music is just perfect for Sasha. I wish her well with her LP version of R&J.

mzheng, I was just lightly poking fun of Sasha's repetition of the phrase "feeling comfortable" in her journal entry :b

At the end she says it is all about giving a great performance, but then in the very next sentence she says it is all about sportsDon't sportsmen/women need to give good performances? You hear this said about gymnastics, various kinds of racing, etc. She needs to stay on her feet & land clean jumps...that makes for a good sports performance. I don't see the contradiction.

I guess I took the "performance" statement to mean "musical interpretation" -- the emotion, reaching out to an audience, etc. Then when she mentioned that is all about sports right afterward it sort of threw me.

ITA with you on that kgrama. I too thought that the last few sentences were not very coherent and somewhat contradictive too.

Cohen is using beaten to death (by her mostly) type of music. This is the 4th season she is using R and J? Where is the versatility??

I believe Michelle has used EOE on at least five different occasions as an exhibition, SP, and LP since the 93/94 season, and she has mastered an eloquent performance each time. I wish Sasha the best with the R&J program, and hopefully a clean skate at the Olympics.

Besides skating to EOE, Michelle skated to a huge diversity of different kinds of music. Cohen OTOH. is not challenging herself at all, mainly staying with the top favorite classical music pieces, or a piece of film music like R and J. Mk's EOE has a different feel to it each time. Cohen so far is not giving much versatility in her interpretation of R and J.

I think EOE was not as well know as R&J. I could be wrong on this one, but I don't recall EOE ever being an overused piece of music in skating. R&J is overused even if Sasha wasn't using it! That said, I do think it is good music for her. I sure would like to see her do something original, though. I think she needs music that challenges her. Maybe that would help her to keep focus in the lp.
