Figure Skating: Lambiel and Monod Split Up on Friendly Terms
GENEVA. Cédéric Monod is no longer Stéphane Lambiel’s coach. The two, Monod, of Vaude (a Swiss canton), a former pairs specialist, and Lambiel, of Valais (another Swiss canton), the winner of the 2005 Moscow World Championships, have put an end to their fruitful cooperation by mutual agreement, reports Le Matin (a Geneva based daily) in its Wednesday edition.
The reason for the split-up? As of last week, Lausanne-based Cédéric Monod no longer coaches Lambiel for the simple reason that the reigning world champion is now almost exclusively training in Geneva with his previous coach of 12 years Peter Guetter, advises Le Matin.
“The separation came about without any acromony,” maintains the tabloid. Lambiel (20) does not appear to have forgotten that in October of 2004, having undergone left knee surgery, it was Monod who got him back in shape and coached him to spectacular results. “After my injury and the surgery, I felt the need to change the scenery and to experience a new environment. Cédéric Monod provided me with the stability and guidance that helped me to regain my confidence and find my footing,” explained at the beginning of the year Lambiel, a member of the Geneva Skating Club.
Moreover, Monod, who was in his time one of the youngest skaters on the circuit, will no longer manage the affairs of his young prodigy either, whose upcoming season looks jam-packed: A Gala in New York in late October, CoC in Beijing in early November, CoR in Saint Petersburg towards the end on November, GP Finals and/or Swiss Nationals in December. Then in 2005, Europeans in Lyon in January, Olympics in Turin in February, Worlds in Calgary in March, not to mention Art on Ice and a new US tour.
October 5.

I wouldn't define Monod a long-time coach. He trained him for just 1 yr. Mr. Grutter is Stephane's long-time coach :)

I wonder what is that new US tour that is mentioned in the last sentence of the article?
