O.k., I admit that I am silly enough to pay attention to a beauty pageant but I am curious to see who will win this year as Miss Universe :p
Does anyone else intend to watch the show tonight? Who's your favorite delegate? I have no clue who would win at this point.

I looooove pageants, and I follow pageants during the ice skating off season (Miss USA is in March or April, Miss Universe is May or June, and Miss Teen USA is in August). I have been following the Miss Universe pageant since day one and here are my top 15 after photos, interviews on MissUniverse.com, and the preliminaries both in swimsuit and evening wear in random order...
1. Miss Norway
2. Miss Thailand
3. Miss Peru
4. Miss Canada
5. Miss Mexico
6. Miss Curacio
7. Miss USA
8. Miss Puerto Rico
9. Miss Chile
10. Miss Latvia
11. Miss Venezuala
12. Miss Croatia
13. Miss Antigua and Barbados
14. Miss Trinidad and Tobago
With a clean night tonight, I think the runner ups are as follows...
fourth runner up....Curacio
third runner up....Miss Croatia
second runner up....Miss Norway
first runner up....Miss Thailand or Miss Peru
Miss Universe 2005....Miss Peru or Miss Thailand

Thanks to the brave little goofball, I am posting in this thread. Hayley just knows how excited I am about Miss Universe, every year! Haha, she knows me well.
I would have to guess that Miss Thailand will make the top 15.
My faves this year:
CANADA (there is just something so stunning, enchanting about her, and she so looks like Scarlett O'Hara!!- those eyes are just so gorgeous!)
Mexico
Bahamas
Antigua
Venezuela

4. Thailand
5. Germany
6. Malaysia
7. Switzerland
8. Korea
9. Russia
10 Puerto Rico
11 Serbia & Montenegro
12 Aruba
13 El Salvador
14 Singapore

Not doing all the runner-ups but I'll take a stab at the winner

OMG she did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh this is absolutely delightful! I was rooting for her all the way- even before the competition. It was since Miss Canada Universe that I was so rooting for her! OMG. I'm so happy. I was screaming so loud when they announced it that my fiance told me to quiet down or the neighbours will come and complain. Haha.
Natalie maintained her composure, was calm, confident, beautiful, stunning, and all I said all along- enchanting! Her eyes are so beautiful. I'm so delighted!

I had 9 of the top 15 correct. Canada was awesome tonight, and deserved the title. I think what even made her the clear winner at the end was her thanking the crowd in Thai after the answer, and everytime she was called, she did the typical thai bow....very very deserving. I thought puerto rico looked too plastic (not to be mean, even though i had her in my top 15) to be in the top 5, which i thought Peru should had taken her spot. Dominican Republic would not have made it into the top 5 if she wore her preliminary gown...nice choice. The biggest dissappointment for me was the disclusion (if thats a word) of Miss Thailand, who had a nice body, and a cute gown. very very disappointed!!!, so they threw in the National Costom award to her, blahhhhhhhhh....
Anyway, i loved the production this year, very Asianique....very Thai.

As a Canadian, I am so excited.!!!!. Congratulations Miss Canada. She is beautiful and I wish I had the abs and legs she has. SHe looks great!!!. I didn't watch the show, but I am really happy to see a Canadian win and to read that she did so well. SHe sounds like Michelle, with the way she acted and showed respect to the Thai people.Yeah Canada. !!!!!!!!!.

Did anyone else find it hilarious during the question part at the end, all the girls (except Canada of course) used an interpreter then answered in great english...total minus points in my book! Except Venezuela, who gave a bad answer cuz she was clearly struggling with her English with that hard question about what is the biggest problem your country faces. Also, I could've sworn Puerto Rico was talking Valleygirlish with her ums and likes and even an Oh my god about overcoming a failure of not winning a pageant at her university.
OH yea and even though I'm filipina, my girl from the Philippines shouldn't have gotten Most Photogenic.
Congrats to Canada!

Ms. Venezuela had tears in her eyes... Anyone noticed she looked sad all through the whole competition?

Using a translater is like cheating because it gives you a few seconds to think. I agree it's very unfair to those English speakers.

I really loved Miss Mexico and Miss Peru's dresses. I'd give them the crown on JUST that alone! But Miss Canada was also very nice. She clearly had the best (or most PC) answer and I knew she'd win.
Too bad USA didn't get in to the top 5 or I think she might have blown all those girls away. She was way shorter than the other finalists... I was surprised. I'm a little wounded (NC pride!) but glad that Canada won because she definitely deserved it!

Too bad USA didn't get in to the top 5
I kinda disagree. I can't root for her just because she is American. Her being shorter was not the problem. IMO, she was more ordinary looking than the other girls.
And then there was the walk............
Her catwalk was THE WORST CATWALK I HAVE EVER SEEN in the last 10 years of Miss Universe. Anyone who has it on tape should rewind it to the bathing suit competition.
How can I explain it......she walked like a extremely perky cheerleader who was doped up on prozac. She was was soo peppy, me and my friends couldn't help feeling sorry for her. Every time she did ....or should i say attempted....a three turn, she would dunk her head to the side like she was some Jack-in-the-box. She also would fling her arms up into the air like she was some strange doll. Her steps were robotic and she had this really wierd limp. It looks like her legs were filled with lead. I don't understand why no one told her "Hey, your walk is hideous". She is Miss USA. She probably has more funding than any of the contestants. Couldn't Trump management have given her some coaching lessons.
Didn't anyone else notice the hideous walk? At the end of the bathing suit competition, all the girls are in a line and then they move closer to the front of the stage. At this point, she totally races to the center of the stage and her walk is even more hideous in comparison to the other girls.

Haaah!!!.....I noticed it too!!! She really was hideous in the bathing suit competition thing!!! Me and my second favorite girl Srey, were saying....what's up with this girl??? She was aweful!!! :lol Congrats to Miss Canada!!! She looked decent, and came off as a really sweet person, but wouldn't have been my choice !!! I think some of the totally hottest girls didn't even make the final fifteen!!!

To have someone fall on a runway or on stage of a pageant is like having someone fall while ice skating...NOT FUNNY AT ALL...I wouldnt really suggest it as funny.
