Without a doubt in my mind it would be Dante's Prayer. I don't know the name of the singer but her voice and Michelle's movements fit together perfectly.

Wow! That's a tought question... I'd have to vote 'Other,' though, and choose 'Ariane.' That music just has sooo many moods to it- It astounds me every time I listen to it!
Oh, and whoever asked who sang 'Dante's Prayer,' it's Loreena McKennitt. She has a gorgeous voice, ne? Definitely get one of her CDs!

From a purely musical standpoint its gotta be Rachmaninoff. He is truly a genius, and the musical sophistication of his works was a grand culmination of all the work of his predecessors. His good taste and mastery of the musical form allowed for music that was interesting on both a theoretical level and a purely auditory level. I don't think any of us can really appreciate the difficulty of orchestrating for a large ensemble that has the express purpose of displaying the strengths of one instrument. Alwyn and Massenet tend to display works with basically one line of melody without interesting harmony, or repetitive motifs (catchy though they were). While Corigliano is also a genius, TRV does not illustrate his true strenghts. The constraints of scoring a film left Corigliano to leave his trademark skills of interesting and novel orchestrationa, an ability to showcase oft-downplayed instruments, and combine the lyrical with 20th century modernism.

Rachmaninoff all the way because it was the perfect short program and it was plain to see why she kept on getting perfect sixes for it. It had everything it needed to. The elegance and grace and the power and very intricate footwork, wow!! I get chills everytime I see it.

I admit that Rachmaninoff was incredible music, and so was Dream of Desedemona. But I like things that are a little different- off mainstream? Don't get me wrong, I love mainstream for skating, but to listen to, I like THE RED VIOLIN!!! The violin solo by Joshua Bell is so emotional, it's almost, if not as good, as Itzhak Perlman playing Schindler's List! Then the singing by the woman is so haunting, and the end is so powerful- TRV is definitely the BEST!!

What do you mean by "best"?

Best-written music originally?

Best-edited and effective skating program music?

My personal favorite?

I am totally in love with EOE. The music is beautiful and the program was extremely well choragraphed. It was like Michelle was going to take to the air and fly at any second. That's how I felt watching her skate that program and listening to the music

I voted for the Rachmaninov music (from the finale in the 3rd piano concerto, and the 1st movement of the second Trio Elegiaque). Breathtaking music....

Ok that's a hard question! I love all of her music, to name a few:
Red Violin ( I love this haunting music!!)
Hands ( so beautiful)
Romanza ( I love spanish music for skating...)
East of Eden (again, absolutely beautiful)
Ariane (powerful and strong)
Dantes Prayer (very alternative, I love it)
Winter (perfect theme for skating!!!)

and the list goes on......
