I didn't really know, because Tara Lipinski's jumping techinique wasn't that consistant. Michelle Kwan's triple Lutz was kinda of a problem. So, i'll voted for other.

I voted Michelle, because out of the group listed I think her technique was the best.

I think it was Tara Lipinski, or Sarah Hughes, I never saw Michelle when she was 3.

I vote Michelle.

Did she have some problems with the loop also? It seems i remember her doubling that a lot in the early years.

I think Michelle Kwan. I just love her technique!

I voted for Michelle Kwan because at 13 she seemed to have the least technical problems.

Random Thought- I was thinking that some of these polls should not include 'other' as a choice because sometimes, I would like to see a result 'just out of the skaters mentioned.' There is never a clear winner if there is an 'other' category because no one really knows which skaters are included in 'other.' Just my opinion.

For those of you who haven't seen Michelle skate when she was 13, should get my Best Of Michelle Kwan tape. It actually begins when she was 12.

Michelle clearly had the best technique at 13 and even before then. Did you guys see her high scores at Worlds? She was 14 then but even the year before she was up there and she would have been higher had she not fallen. Her scores were so much higher than the upcoming girls now because back it seems like skaters focused more on technique than on just completing the jump Tara gains difficulty at 14 but her technique was never up there. That's why her scores would always be lower in the short program even though she had the hardest jumps because technique counted for something then. She usually soared in the long.

As much as I love and adore Michelle, I'll say Tara. And oh, that personality!

Michelle was head and shoulders above the rest of them at 13. Tara was just learning a triple lutz and was flutzing them every time, (that is why she finished 7th at Jr. Worlds, they wouldn't let her attempt a "flawed" jump).

When grown up, Nancy Kerrigan had the best technique among the US ladies, she was a very powerful jumper. And also Nicole Bobek, who although flawed by the flutz and falls, on a good day her jumps were higher, and more fully rotated than anyone else's, never cheated, I think that may be one of the main reasons that she fell so often. Too good in the air for her to hold the landing.
But, to answer the question, who was best at 13, well besides them the only other skaters that I have on tape at 13 are Michelle, Tara, NNN, Sarah. And at that stage Tara and Sarah had the fewest falls and flubs.

"I think it was Tara Lipinski, or Sarah Hughes, I never saw Michelle when she was 3."

Sarah good technique at 13? Yeah right! I like her, but at 13 she was struggling to land her jumps without the super obvious leg wrap and the still had the super high picking leg. And even now, she still has the same problems, esp. the flutzing...but has cleaned up her leg wrap (though still underrotates some of her jumps) and her picking leg doesn't go sky high anymore.

I agree with Millenium, Midori's jumps were HUGE even at age 12.
