and if Kristi were enthused about competing under that pressure, I think she would have won everything.

If Kristi had stayed she would have definitely won all of those competitions mentioned. She's a very consistent skater, and I think her artistry would have improved like it has when she went pro. So I think there would be no weaknesses for her after two years of winning her gold medal.

She is/was artistic, and had technical package...Not to mention being the reigning national, world, and olympic champ which would have her confidence up even more...so I think she would have won all. Back then i was hoping that she would return to the 94 olympics.
OF course, it could have been that Tonya's camp would have hit her knee, and what if it would have really broken hers?
Otherwise, no contest, Kristi would have won it all, if she skated anywhere close to her best.

I think Nancy had improved a great deal by 93-94, and Oksana was super as well. Remember, Kristi usually had a problem with the 3SAL and that would have limited what she could've accomplished in those years with Oksana and Nancy skating so well. But I think she'd have been the favorite at 94 Nats with only Tonya Harding, a very young Michelle and Tonia Kwaitkowski as the top compitition. Interesting is the idea that if Kristi had competed at 94 Nationals, then she and Tonya Harding might have gone to the Olympics and Nancy left home! How would the USFSA have gotten out of that sort of mess??

I think if Kristi had skated at 1993 national and worlds, she would not have tanked the way Nancy did and the U.S. would have been able to send 3 skaters to Lillehammer. Nancy did well at the '94 Olympics but she actually skated very poorly during the previous season.

Oksana and Nancy could match Kristi in the artistry department, but w/ the jumps they were way outgunned. Kristi did a 3lutz/3toe combo, far more difficult than anything the other two attempted. She also put two 3lutzes in her LP, Oksana and Nancy had one. Finally, Kristi's LP's always contained 7 triples, Oksana and Nancy only had 6. So even with Kristi's 3sal problem, she had more technical content even if she fell.

Ogre Mage....I agree, i think the season before, Kristi would have won, which would have...if the rest of the field judged the same, put Nancy in 6th, then we would have sent 3 to Olympics. The thing is, the reason Tonya's ex and Co. attacked Nancy was supposed to be because Nancy was favored over Tonya, and they thought with Nancy out of the picture..Tonya would win. Now, if Kristi were there, she would have been favored, and probably still Nancy would have been favored over Tonya..so what would they have done...either attacked them both, or just Kristi, which still would have left Nancy ahead. If they attacked Nancy, they still would know that Kristi was favored over TOnya. SO, perhaps they wouldn't have attacked either of them. Then that whole saga would never have happened.
I think that if that were the case, it would have been Kristi gold, Nancy Silver (because i think the whole scandal hurt Nancy in the judges eyes) and Oksana would have gotten bronze.
Who knows though, it may have been kristi, then oksana, then nancy.

I remember watching a talk show around the time of the Nancy/Tonya incident and the host was asking Kristi why she decided to remain professional and not return to the Olympics. Her reply: "It's safer." :lol

Kristi could have won them all.....she is still a total artistic and technical package - I don't care how many times Oksana would have cried at the judges.....she two footed two landings and had no jump combination (except for a really bad double axel - double toe she almost fell on at the end) and still won - that was almost as bad as Tara beating Michelle but oh well.....if Kristi continued to train at the pace she was during the Olympics she would have improved along with Nancy, so it would have been interesting to see....Nancy's whack on the knee actually turned her into a more determined and better skater in the long run, as well as her poor showing at Worlds in '93......to wonder what it would have been like is fascinating!

The Guilooly Team would have whacked her on the knee along with Nancy so it was blessing she didn't go on.

We will never know. With each new season come promising talent.
