When the political threads were part of Random Chat, we were required to post in only two threads (right and left leaning). After reading the stickied post for this new section, it seems that this is no longer required. So, the question is - should we stick to the ideologically based threads (left, middle, right) that have already been stared? Or should we have more topical threads? Personally, I prefer threads on specific topics. They tend to be easier to read and follow since sometimes the ideological threads have multiple conversations about multiple topics going on at once. Also, I think that topical threads do more to encourgage debate, discussion and understanding of different positions. Also, when we had ideological threads we could never agree on whether crossover was allowed, e.g., can right leaners post on the left leaning thread? Finally, I just don't think it is helpful to automatically label all posters - not everyone is easily identified as right or left leaning.

So what do you all think?

I tend to agree, but until we hear from Heather, I'll make today's post in the Left Thread.

And I, for one, will tend to stay away from the Right Thread.

topic threads are perfectly satisfactory.

that's one of the reasons this section was designed this way.

Okay, I'll take that as "word from Heather" and go post.
