I was sooooooooo reluctant ... A mutual friend came to my door in December of 1991, and said, "Jerry, I want you to help us nominate my friend Bill Clinton for president."
"What? That conservative pro-bidness guy from Arkansas? Can't we find a REAL LIBERAL to run against him?"
"But Jerry," she said, "Bill & Hillary are a lot more liberal than you think. I promise!"
So we worked hard, got him nominated, got him elected, got him re-elected. Crime went down, drug use went down, teen pregnancy went down, abortion rate went down, and the deficit turned into a surplus. The fascist Milosevic in Serbia was defeated without the loss of a single American in combat, which makes Bill Clinton the best commander-in-chief America has ever had.
That's waaaaayyyy better than the idiots in the White House before him and after him!
No wonder the Repugnicans hate him.

!!Happy Birthday President Clinton!! I'm about halfway through "My Life," and it's very encouraging to read how he rose from humble roots, and how he managed to overcome obstacles through persistence and resilience. Thank you for a great eight years, Mr. President!

Last night I asked my husband if there was anything he wanted to say in our birthday greeting and usually a man of few words, this time my husband really floored me with his response.
He must have gone on for five minutes about how much the country needed Bill and what a twit we have in the WH now, with Bill in office we didn't have young men sent to foreign soil and die, there was money in the treasury, no one was trying to steal social security, plus we had a president who understood what being poor was like and wanted to make sure that the next generation would never have to suffer a depression or world war again, etc.. And I may have left several thoughts out.
While there was nothing I disagreed with, what I was looking for was something along the lines of a many happy returns of the day line.
Sometimes it's the quiet ones who carry the deepest emotions or in other words still waters run deep. After 35 years this man never fails to amaze me, my husband that is; but then Bill Clinton doesn't either.

4dk's hubby ... must have gone on for five minutes about how much the country needed Bill and what a twit we have in the WH now, with Bill in office we didn't have young men sent to foreign soil and die, there was money in the treasury, no one was trying to steal social security, plus we had a president who understood what being poor was like and wanted to make sure that the next generation would never have to suffer a depression or world war again, etc.. We need more guys like your hubby in this country, 4dk. People need to look at the simple facts, and speak the truth, which is clearly what he is doing.
