First off I would like to ask that since the BFFF threads always have lots of pictures in them, that if you have a personal pic or banner in your signature to please refrain from posting it more than once in a thread so that it doesn't take the thread as long to load. Thanks a lot!

BFFFers' Ten Commandments by Yingshan
10. You shall not put forth any KFC around MK's temple where we worship.
9. You shall put the success of our production above your personal gain (no whining about pay)
8. You shall do everything to further our causes, e.g. sending PK a MK's book, hinting of MK when you can talk to PK, no matter whether it makes you a laughingstock.
7. You shall not nominate any guys for MK lightly (You shall do a detailed background check before mentioning it here). Our girl deserves the best.
6. You shall not be vulgar in any creative writing or picture splicing.
5. You shall not throw yourself at any guy who we consider a good match for MK no matter how attractive you find him to be or how close you get to him. This is a non-competitive clause.
4. You shall not mention any BFFF outside of this thread, especially not in any PK Forum.
3. You shall have a sense of humor.
2. You shall not mistake any writings here as "news".
1. You shall bow to the high pristess's wisdom at all time! (Should be optional if you ask me)

Any bold has been done so by me and any [italics] in brackets has been added by me, not the original authors.

For first time visitors WELCOME. This is 100% fan fiction. Fan fictioners agree to start a new chapter whenever the thread grows to 80 messages long. We also agree to never discuss this fan fiction material outside of Fan Fiction Land, i.e. we do not post any of this in rssif, FSW, or other threads in this MK forum etc. [Or the PK Forum] Fan fictioners are in the process of producing a play on MK and PK - Paul Kariya the captain of Mighty Ducks. The genius writer is Mano, contributing writers are Kooky, Yingshan (who is also the set designer), Wonder, A-Chan, and Littlepebbles. Chemy is the photographer. Magenta is the ultimate matchmaker, and the rest are managers of this co. I come here just to chill out. Sometimes we refer to MK as 6.0 b/c of the unprecedented # of perfect 6.0s she earned, and PK as #9, he wears #9.

Yingshan
To New Comers: Welcome to our fantasyland! The purpose of this place is for us to have some fun with our favorite skater: Michelle Kwan. We weave fictional accounts and speculations into very skimpy facts. So you'll be in serious trouble if you take what we say here seriously. And everything we say here are for your and our eyes only. None of this should be repeated elsewhere on the USNET, e.g. RSSIF, FSW.... [Or the PK Forum!!!!!]

We're creating a romance novel/movie script. It's temporarily named "Ice to Ice" (I like "Icy Affairs" better). The leads are Michelle Kwan ("6.0") and Mighty Ducks captain Paul Kariya (#9). No, we don't know whether there's anything going on between them. We pick them to write because we think they make a perfect couple. [And not only because they're both Asian, or Asian and 1/2 Asian!] The main screen writer is Mano. I'm the producer/editor. My partner in production is Magenta. Chemy is our photographer. Wonder is my co-editor. Skatingfan is our sound whiz. Blizzard is our art director. Kooky and annabelle are on our contributing writing team. Littlepebbles is our director.

Welcome to stay and watch our creative process. But please obey our confidentiality rule. We don't want our brilliant ideas being pirated.

One More Criteria.....
for anyone who wants to read here:

YOU NEED A SENSE OF HUMOR!

Mano
Do not adjust your monitors, you have just entered...the Boyfriends Fan Fiction Zone (AKA BFFF)

If you are feeling lightheaded, dizzy, and see Michael Jordan back with the Chicago BULLs (pun intended), you must STOP, click the "Back button" and seek medical attention quickly.

If you happen to have a good sense of humor and realize that this is truly 100 % PURE FAN FICTION, then welcome to our humble abode.

Remember, we are not responsible for any mental injuries that might occur upon seeing the fictional stories and pictures. In other words, enter at your own risk. However, we do offer BFFF Life Insurance. Ask one of our agents for more info.

Without further ado...(drum roll)
May I present the stars of the show...
Paul Kariya (not Pretty Boy Bush) and Michelle Kwan (Standing Ovation)

This is lp here:
Not that PK fans aren't welcome, they are as long as they don't show up trolling, send threatening e-mails, or go running back to the PK forum bashing us and Michelle. Cause unfortunately all that stuff has happened. Hope everyone enjoys our antics but watch out for Yingshan, she bites sometimes!

From the pond to to S. douglas rd, then take CA -57S, then take I-5 South/CA 22 east ramp, merge into I-5 S, take CA-55 south ramp, merge into CA-55 S, take I-405 North ramp, take I-405 N, take Bristol st exit, turn right onto Bristol.

6.0 is on her way to destination Kennewick, through SEATLE. The past 2 weeks has been exciting and busy. First there was the minor crash with GP. His car was totalled, so he begged for a ride with her and Ron to Dr. Phil's clinic opening ceremony. At the clinic those 2 guys were literally fighting over her. Ron thought that was amusing, but 6.0 felt a bit unease being the center of their attention. Then she took the short trip to Sydney and saw Summer Olympics. Ahh..., something about first crush/love that is so sweet and special, now she is on her way to SEATLE. 6.0 looks out the window of the plane and sees a beautiful sky with clouds in the shape of a duck. She quickly pinches herself to refocus on SEATLE..............

From the PK Yahoo club before it became the Catfight club:

Paul's shopping store jmlvptk
(F/So. Cali) 8/25/00 4:53 pm
My sister work for Bernini at South Coast Mall, her boss told her that Paul shops there during Christmas or around December. My sister also told me that her boss is a friend of Viktor Kosloz. And that he plays hockey with him during the offseason. I don't know where they play but its cool that my sister knows somebody who is a friend of a hockey player. Too bad though that my sister won't be working at Bernini during Christmas because my sister will be attending UCLA next month. Well, I thought you guys want to know where Paul also shops and what kind of clothings he wears. Oh, by the way, he also shops at Ralph Lauren. =)

Re: Paul's shopping store JODEpk89
(17/F/California) 8/25/00 9:37 pm
As long as we're on the subject of shopping, my classmate's brother works at South Coast Plaza in the Georgio Armani Emporio store. He said that Paul shops there once in a while for his suits and he has helped him a couple times.I guess he likes to shop at South Coast. Looks like there's another place to hang out.

***
Sigh, here's to hoping he got himself a dapper Armani outfit. Would love to see both MK and PK in Armani. Classy, elegant and understated.

Paul Kariya suspended indefinitely for slashing a player from the Minnesota Wild on Friday's game. He may miss a couple of games. I just hope he'll be back by Oct. 16 for the Ducks game vs the Rangers 'cause I hope to be there. Otherwise, I become a scalper for the night.

Okay, paranoia working overtime here regarding PK slashing incident. I'm thinking that he got wind about us writing stuff about him and he's fed up with us so he took one look at the guy from opposing team, it reminded him of us BFFFers 'cause he was a beefy looking fellow and said, "there's the beef!" then proceeded to slash the guy. What think you???

PK saw this Gavey guy as "mano" so he SMACK his head real hard. :lol :lol :lol

yingshan, interesting to hear what you heard on Karen Kwan's alleged engagement. Wasn't she wearing a ring at The Cell Premiere? Somebody posted at MKChat that she is working in NY.

Suspension means a chance to go to skate america?

mano
October 3rd, 2000, 09:59 AM
Isn't that like at the end of October? LOL, if that was the case, PK is going to have major coniptions 'cause he didn't deserve more than a slashing minor and two minutes in the sin box. The guy, Aaron Gavey, should have been called for a penalty too, since he was trying to slew foot Kariya. Scary stuff, PK could have ended up with a broken leg or something. Problem is, the action wasn't captured on tape so it's PK's word against the ref. They expect a hearing today and we'll know by then what the verdict is. I say, just let the man play. Fine him, give him one day suspension which he served last Saturday and then just let the man play. PK hopes to be in the roster for Friday's opener against the Wild.

As for seeing MK compete, he'll have lots of time for that, but I don't expect that to happen unless her comp happens to be in the same vicinity he and his team are playing in and he has a day off or something. Otherwise, I'm hoping he just has an extreme desire to go shopping tomorrow and accidentally bump into Michelle at South Coast Plaza.

Hi, all my "subjects", please check out my web site at:

www.bridaldesigner.com (http://www.bridaldesigner.com)

I uploaded it yesterday and took me quite a while to figure out how to access to it (all the overwriting and rights stuff) from other systems. I need to know how it looks on all different systems. The pictures don't look as sharp as they show in their original file. But I want to make sure the fonts, layout, background look all right on your system. Please check it out and let me know how they look and how they load. Does the home page load too slowly? I'm worried about it. The domain tells everything, it's my bridal gown design site. It has lots of my design sketches and some of the gowns I made.

P. S. Incentive for you to check out my site: There were pictures of me on it. :-)

mano
October 4th, 2000, 10:39 AM
Great site!!! I love it. Talk about giving Vera Wang a run for her money. If I ever get married, expect an order from me. LOL regarding leaving the Bridal magazines at the door. That's so me, 'cause I have tons of Brides and Modern Brides magazines. Not that I'm going to get married or anything, just like to look through them 'cause I'm big on wishful thinking. Oh and if you're wondering if I ever see Michelle in any of those gowns and Paul in those tuxedos when I look through these magazines? So guilty as charged, I am! It's pathetic.

BTW, is that what's been keeping you so busy all summer? Does that mean we can expect more participation from you in BFFF now that you don't have to worry about making your site and all that? Should I expect being crispified anytime soon?

Just posting that Kariya's suspension is over. The man is going to play so no worries. 'Bout time I say.

YS, Jasmine is the national or a very popular flower of the Philippines? I think a natural progression from bridal design will be designer baby clothes. Little swans and ducklings need nice clothes. ;)

Thanks for the compliments!!! Yeah, the site is the thing that keeps me busy for almost six months. I'm also house hunting. Believe it or not, I'm house hunting in PK's neighborhood. Boy, can I keep an eye on him if I get the house I'm waiting for. I'll write another chapter to the "Butterfly" series sometimes next week. And yes, mano, you can expect to be crispified more. :) SK, we have to make sure MK wears my design on her wedding day first before we can move onto baby swans, right? Amelia, why "dagger in Gwendal's heart"? I like him. Don't kill him, okay?

I found the article about how the Ducks handle their mail. Gots to thank Kariya's Korner webmistress hockeylander for that. So for those who got pics from PK and TS, what think you?

www.geocities.com/kariyas...smail.html (http://www.geocities.com/kariyaskorner/press/ksmail.html)

Here's an excerpt from Teemu Selanne:
<!--EZCODE QUOTE START--><blockquote>Quote:<hr> If Paul and I answered our own mail, we wouldn't do anything else," Selanne said. "So if somebody sends a normal fan letter that says, 'Good luck and could you please sign this,' then I probably won't see it. But if there's a real interesting story or something to do with a sick person, then I'll see that letter and we'll try to do something."<hr></blockquote><!--EZCODE QUOTE END-->

So...does does being sick in the head count or something?

Edit: Oh hey, weird wild stuff I found browsing through the Ducks roster from stuff:

Paul's line-mates Steve Rucchin and Teemu Selanne are both July babies too like Michelle. Rooch's DOB is 7/4/71 and Teemu's DOB is 7/3/70. They have great chemistry together as a line. Imagine the chemistry between MK and PK?

And get this, center Tony Hrkac's DOB is 7/7/66, same B-day as Michelle's. Also, newly acquired center German Titov's DOB is 10/16/65, same B-day as Paul's. Oh, and since Rooch is injured, Titov will be center for Paul and Teemu in tomorrow night's game. Totally weird wild stuff. Okay, back to work...

You are always way too good chemy :) ! Toady I was at a car wash about 90 miles from my home, and about 20 miles from the pond, waiting for my husband's truck to be finished, when I noticed a hockey ad on a newpaper stand. I just had to check it out and it was none other than #9 all by himself in the center with just a smidgen of his opponents on the edges. I was laughing that I even looked that I can't remember what the words were :lol !

Too bad we can't see the leather pants of PK. ;) Sorry I've been out of touch for a while but we actually moved this weekend, or rather moved most of our stuff this weekend and I'm less than a week away from being a New Joysee resident. It's been a rather hectic last few days...I hate moving. That plus my monitor is messed up that I have to hit it to see something. I haven't ICQ nor emailed anybody so apologies if you've not heard from me.

BTW, I finally got my tickets to the Rangers vs Ducks game for Monday Oct. 16. Word to the wise, get your tix early if you plan to watch a Rangers game and don't procrastinate else you end up sitting in the boondocks. Now I have to buy a telescope or something just to see the action, sigh.

Chemy, more PK pics from Kariya's Korner. These are the ones with Teemu, Paul and Luc Robitaille (from the Kings no less) at Monday Night Live. I was hoping PK would make like MK and wear leather like she did last year. Oh well.

Long time no talk, so wuzzzuuuh?

Been hard at work, no end in sight, so I need a relaxing moment by posting a quick 'hello' to my MK chums. No baby yet :( but maybe next year will be my time!

Mr. Kooky and I are thinking about taking a trip to Europe next year with my family and it's looking like Spain for us. My parents are considering retiring there, so maybe the trip over will convince them to stay in the good ol' US of A!

How are things with everyone? Hope you're all doing well. I'm late in posting comments on the Keri event, but our girl's skate last weekend was fantastic :) As always, when she takes the ice, I'm riveted to the screen.

Well, that's all for now. You'd think in my long absence that 6.0 and #9 would finally get it together and start dating. Sheesh!

Sight for sore eyes you are. We've missed you something fierce here. Glad to see you are doing all right. Just take it easy on the work load and make sure to get a lot of R&R. BTW, when you said, "no baby yet" I was like, I know right, PK and MK are like taking their time but then I read on and realized you were meaning yourself and your hubby :lol . No worries, when you do have a baby next year, we'll try to give you a virtual baby shower to celebrate it so don't be a stranger.

Hey, Ducks play the Bruins today. Boston Bruins, not the UCLA version. Here's to hoping Paul can concentrate on the game and not think about the fact that Michelle's a Bruin too. The Ducks played badly on Sunday, but I figured it was because I ate Duck that day. I better make sure to stave off eating Ducks, they're too oily anyway. We sacrifice chickens for Duck games too, don't we?

A little "Did You Know" for you guys. The Ducks now have a leadership group, The Six. Starting with Captain Paul Kariya, Assistant Captain Teemu Selanne, Injured center Steve Rucchin who will wear the "A" during home games, former King Dan Bylsma will wear the "A" during away games, enforcer Jim Cummins and Marty McInnis will also be part of this committee. I just find it neat that they chose 6.

PK mentioned baseball in an article in LA Times today. Just like to rub it in that my team, those lovable huggable Mets, beat his team, the San Francisco Giants. Did Michelle ever say which baseball team she rooted for?

BTW, I hope PK scores today so maybe I can start a 50 Goals = PK neked countdown. Yippee, 6 more days 'til game day at MSG. Can't wait to see them live!!!

Hi everybody, I've spent the last two weekends catching up on all the BFFF threads and have enjoyed every moment. As usual the talent here is sublime. I've laughed, gotten misty eyed, and even spent last weekend trying to talk my hubby into going with me the the Tustin Market Place for a possible PK sighting.

Before I type my small contribution to BFFF I want to mention a few things.

1. Sharon, I saw the picture in the news stand last weekend. It's a pretty good action shot of PK. Yes Mano, I tried to remove it but it's behind some sort of clear screen. I think for now it's in most the OC Register stands.

2. Yingshan, your webpage is cool. Congrats and the best success for your business. I will definitely pass your web address on to those I know who are planning a wedding.

3. Mano, about eating chicken before the Ducks games. I don't know, I eaten Chicken before all 3 of their games and all 3 times they've played terrible.

Ok now to my meager contributions. During the preseason a show was aired called Fire On Ice. It was replayed prior to the St Louis game and I finally caught it in full. It was pretty good. A trip into the locker room (a few bare chests, but not PKs), interviews with players & the coach, etc. I thought I could post some of the stuff from the program and at least provide some ideas for the talented writers here to use as subject matter.

Player Interviews: (as close to verbatim as possible) All the interviews were conducted separately in various parts of the locker room.
Program host: Bill McDonald (BM)
Pavel Trnka (PT)
BM: You got engaged?
PT: laughing, I can't believe you asked.
Marty McInnis (MM):
BM: Any baseball games?
MM: I didn't get out to Fenway this summer, usually I get out a couple of times, but I saw the SOXs out here before I left. They don't get back out here so I'll probably go out to an Angel game before it's over.
BM: There ya go. You got 3 games left.
MM: Really, That's it?
Matt Cullen (MC):
BM: Remember last year I told you about that intern who had a crush on you?
MC: I think I remember.
BM: She' still in love with you, and you've gotten old and wrinkled and she still thinks you're the hottie.
MC: laughing, I have gotten old haven't I? Wrinkled.
BM: How old are you now?
MC: 23
BM: You're the King of Orange County, now when you get here, where to you like to go? Give me the name of a few favorite night spots, not like people are gonna stalk you or follow you, but when you go out, get a night off and want to get loose, where do you go?
MC: You guys dig pretty deep huh?
BM: Huge journalism, huge journalism.
MC: I don't know, we probably go to the Yard House in Newport Beach, good place to eat.
BM: laughing and looks into the camera, yeah good restaurant. Let me tell you something about the Yard House. The line is about 3 hrs long. BM looks back to MC.
BM: You got to know somebody to get in there don't you?
MC: Yeah, yeah, oh yeah. We live down there you know?
BM: Here's the big question. You been to Rodman's yet? (shows clip of Dennis Rodman taking his shirt off and throwing it into the crowd after getting kicked out of a basketball game)
MC: No I have not been to Rodmans. You know what? Actually, early in the year, last year, I lived in a house that was only about a block away. I've been by there, I've never been in there-hung out there.
BM: Dude, you go there, get on the internet, be all good with you.
MC: Yeah, that's great. I want my face all over that.
BM: Have you considered your own web page?
MC: You know what, we've talked about it but we haven't really followed throught on it.

**This is harder than I thought it would be. Part II to follow.

I've often wondered what these players say in interviews like that 'cause I often read about events like these in other Duck messageboards but nobody's really given details about what the players discussed. Really gives insight to how the players think...I believe one of the pics from Kariya's Korner were just from that event and I often wondered what got him to laugh or smile. Much appreciated, your reports. :) :) :)

5 days and counting 'til I see the Ducks live. Yippee. I still have to find meself some major binoculars. I don't think hey allow telescopes at MSG. Guess chicken doesn't work for them, maybe I'll fast or something. Wow, they play NJ this Saturday, they are technically on my turf. Gots to keep my eyes open for Ducks waddlin' around. ;) ;) ;)

Part II.
As posted in part I, these interviews were all held in different parts of the lockroom. They were all spliced together and sometimes jumped back and forth between interviewees. This is written in the order of the interviews shown.

Jim Cummins (JC):
Bill McDonnald (BM):
BM: All right tough guy. You ready to protect everyone this year?
JC: Well, it's my job to play physical and fight when I have to. But the way the game is played now you just can't go out there and fight. Everybody's got to play and everybody's got to stand up for themselves.
BM: You know, looks at camera, legitimately, that's not all this guy can do. (looks back to JC) But have you actually boxed? Gotten into the ring? Have you ever done any of that stuff, or is that all on the ice?
JC: laughs, Nah, Nah...
BM: No tough man competition? (both laugh)
JC: No tough man competition, but I have boxed, in the summer, for training.
Steve Rucchin (SR): (he's sitting on top of a trainers table)
BM: What? Are you hurt?
SR: laughs, (not a happy laugh)
Jason Marshall (JM):
BM: (As he's pointing to some red ring like impression across JM's forehead) Alright, a couple of years and that ring around your head just hasn't gotten any better, in fact it's gotten worse than it was last year.
Both laugh as the camera zooms in on JM face.
Steve Rucchin (SR):
BM: What else? Give us some personal things. What'd ya do all summer?
SR: There's no gossip to give you.
BM: Come on.
SR: I know that's what you're looking for but...
BM: Of course, we always do.
Matt Cullen
BM: So you dont' have a girlfriend?
MC: (shaking his head) Oh no. no, no.
BM: You're not going to get one are you?
MC: NO.
Don Bylsma (DM): (played for the Kings last year)
BM: Dude, you're in the wrong locker room.
DB: I don't know what the story is, you didn't talk to me last year in LA, how come you're talking to me now?
BM: (both are laughing) What do you mean, we wouldn't talk to you in LA? You know I just saw Grimson (Stu Grimson, played for MD last year, now plays for the Kings), by the way, at the Kings golf tournament. What's up, it must have been a one-for-one deal? Are you ready to hit people?
DB: Definitely. Definitely. I don't know if it was a one-for-one..me & Stu..but it was an exchange.
BM: (there's a noise in the background) Did you hear that? Teemu's calling you out immediately. Selanne's calling you out!
DB: (shaking his head, like yeah, right) I'll put up my summer workouts against his. (both are laughing)
Jim Cummins (JC):
BM: Who you taking a piss out of in the locker room these days? (I swear he said that) You got to be on somebody's case?
JC: I've been on Paul lately
*before he could finish his sentence BM interrupted him and when he said the work 'on' and while he finished the sentence BM asks..
BM: Who's the biggest pansy?
JC: I've been on Paul lately..
BM: Oh, Paul? Why?
JC: He's alittle sensitive.
BM: He is a sensitive guy isn't he?
JC: He's sensitive, that' why. I've sensed that being here - that's why I've been on his case a little bit.
BM: So it's up to you to bring him out of his shell? Finally! Been here almost 1/2 doz years...you're the guy who's gonna bring him out of his shell?
JC: I don't know about that...I better back out or I'll be out of here quick. laughter.
Steve Rucchin (SR):
SR: Trying to keep up with Jim Cummins...you gotta work pretty hard to keep up with that guy.
BM: Yeah, he's S. California's finest. He's already got a tan. He's buff, he's ready to go (he's saying this as they show JC naked from the waist up)
BM: Well, the soap opera is over for Steve Rucchin and that does it for the ducks preseason in the locker room. Right Jim? (camera zooms in on JC again, of course still without his shirt)
JC: right.

Part III to continue with one-on-one interviews with Teemu Selanne & Paul Kariya.

Hey kjesse, good to hear you again :) . I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw that ad. My mother-in-law gave me a strange look when I went for a closer look, but I didn't explain.

I don't mind the hockey stuff at all. mano's quite verbose on the subject :lol . As you said, it gives our writers creative input. It's about the only time I see it or hear it actually. I'm not a hockey fan, except for BFFF. I'm glad to hear the #9 is sensitive. Our girl needs that. Too bad he's not sensitive enough to figure out all the clues we've dropped on him and get going after our girl. Unless of course, he already has and is just being discreet, for security sake. He wouldn't want all his girl fans to be mad at his 6.0 ;) . Looking forward to the TS & PK interview.

OT> mano, how do you like NJ? I visited there last year and it was really pretty. Atlantic City was okay, but doesn't even come close to Las Vegas.

mano

Whoa...actually, he does seem like the type. Maybe I better take it easy on the criticisms at the Hockey thread. I like this stuff, thanks Kjesse!!! BTW, love your keepership. ;)

Matt Cullen no girlfriend??? Yeah right! LOL, wonder if he knows people make up stuff about him that he's a great kisser and all that!!! :lol

Sharon, the final move to NJ is actually going to be this Saturday so I'm still technically a New Yorker...what am I saying, once a NYer always a NYer. I like Jersey...'cause it's quiet compared to the hustle and bustle of NYC or Flushing for that matter. I'm still working in Manhattan so the peace and quiet will be a welcome one...maybe I'll be able to concentrate more on the writing when I get there. Thing about Jersey, you need a car to get anywhere and that sucks major 'cause I don't have my license yet (pathetic for a 26 year old, eh). I've been putting off getting one 'cause I've been spoiled by the relative ease of commuting in NYC. That plus it's mad easy to get lost in NJ, IMO. But it is beautiful where we will reside so I've no complaints.

It's so fun when I can actually read the threads here and post at the same time. Actually I had to take a day off from work today just get get this stuff posted. I'm usually busy at work and at home my kid takes over the the PC using the phone line. We used to have two phone lines but since we moved in July we ordered and are still waiting for our DSL to get installed so we can go online at the same time.

Mano, I got the impression that Matt Cullen has had several girlfriends if you get my drift. What's the other word for a loose women?

mano
October 12th, 2000, 03:16 PM
Matt Cullen hangs out at brothels??? OH my word. Can't have that! Just kidding. He's a November baby I think. They say scorpios are highly sexual creatures (am I allowed to say that here?) who get you back if you mess with them but are usually nice. I'm getting this from my co-worker, you all know I don't believe in this stuff but it's funny to think about. :lol :lol :lol

Yeah, I don't drive. I wish I can teleport or something. Life would be so much easier.

Wow mano. You are so old ;) . I have a friend whose wife is about 40 and doesn't drive. I guess if you can commute on public tranportation all the time, you don't need to. Out here in California, it's miles to everywhere and no good PT. My car does me proud though , and I really like driving if the others aren't jerks and it's not too too crowded, although I'd like to teleport myself most of the time. It'd give me more time to come here :lol . Glad to hear you'll have more time to write though mano :) !

Yingshan, your site is very nice, but I admit that I was a little disappointed in the pictures of you. You just don't seem as imposing without the high priestess habit.;)

Littlepebbles, the high priestess is single. No telling when a single man will stumble into my site. A more friendly and attractive picture is called for. ;)

Kjesse, thanks for spreading the words for me. My site still has some wrinkles to iron out. I'll fix it this weekend. Thanks for typing up the interview. It's very interesting. I can't wait for Kariya's interview. I'd like to hear where he hangs out. :)

Better than fiction, I say. BTW kjesse, when you watched the Ducks game, how close were you to the ice or Duck bench or whatever? Get this, here I was happy to spend $65.00 for Ducks tix at MSG and boom they didn't have anymore for that price range so I paid $43.00 for tickets way up in the nosebleed section (sheesh I thought it's supposed to cost $35.00) My ticket says Tower D Gate 78, Section 345 Row F14. I actually asked them if there were any other seats available in even higher price range (like in the $135.00 and up price) but nope, sold out. Bummer. I almost fell on the floor when the guy at the box office pointed it out where it was going to be, but I had no choice. I'd be lucky if I can actually see the #9 on PK's jersey. Oh well, maybe next year I'm going to buy the tickets way in advance to get really good seats.

4 Days and counting until I see the Ducks live.

BTW, eilaram, Beth, littlepebbles, there may be a chance I might not be able to ICQ tonight 'cause my monitor died on me last night (thus I wasn't able to get on). No matter how hard I hit it or shake it or whatever, I get a blank screen. I'll try to get in tonight, but if you don't hear from me by 1:30 AM or so, I've given up and my monitor's probably in the trash. :(

Yingshan, you're a scorpio??? Should men beware??? ;) ;) ;)

kjesse
October 14th, 2000, 05:24 AM
It's coming. It's coming..

When I saw the Ducks our seats were on the same side as the players bench but down towards the home team goal. We were about 6 rows back so we couldn't see when the players came on/off the ice. I could see only the sides of the coaches because they usually stand. Oh and the few times, like during a timeout, when the guys who are already on the ice stand and the boards in front of the bench. The only time I got a real good look was during pre-game warmups, right before the 1st & 3rd period (because of the home goal), during any faceoffs that happened on our end and whenever a players face got smashed up against the glass (which seems to happen alot in hockey).

Tickets cost way too much. That's why I don't go because I can never get anyone to go with me and I can't afford to buy two so I can bribe somebody to go. But lately I've been getting these 1/2 price offers via the internet from the Ducks newsletter I get, so I'm thinking I'll take advantage of these.

Yeah, I have a neon sign that says "Men Beware" on my forehead. Didn't you see that in my pictures?

I just made several changes to my web site due to some suggestions I got from internet friends. Please check it out again and see what you think:

www.bridaldesigner.com (http://www.bridaldesigner.com)

I hope now the background will not have the obvious seam in repeating on larger monitor. I took out the border and monotoned the menu buttons on the home page. I also made the buttons and the text on them larger since a person complained that it's hard to see the text. I changed the title from "bridaldesigner.com" to "Jasmine Kung Studio". I want it to be an artist's site instead of a company's site. But I don't know how this name change will affect the chance of my site being listed on the search engine. Anyway, let me know what you think. Thanks!

Fire On Ice - Part III
Please keep in mind that Teemu's english is not perfect. I'm writing what he said, not what I think he meant.

Interview w/Teemu Selanne (TS), Narrator: Bill McDonnald (BM)
BM: As you all know the Ducks are blessed with one of the most dynamic, exciting and creative duos in the history of the NHL speaking of Paul Kariya & Teemu Selanne. But last year was an off year for Teemu Selanne by his standard - so just like this hockey club - he's looking to reload in 2000 for bigger and better things. Last season saw Teemu Selanne score 33 goals while playing with an ailing back. Good year for most players, but the lowest total Teemu has scored in his 4 full seasons in Anaheim.
TS: Past years I think I've been pretty consistant. But last year, after Christmas, for about a month, I was just awful. I couldn't push myself, I had no energy. It was the one thing I don't want to face again.
BM: Something else Selanne doesn't want to face again is missing the playoffs as the ducks did in 99/00.
TS: I think last year our biggest problem was, like some of the years before too, we couldn't play consistantly, on the same level. When we played well we beat everybody. There's no team that we can't beat when we are playing our best hockey. At the same time, when we weren't playing that well we couldn't beat anybody. So that was the problem last year. We play up & down and the gap between a good game and a bad game was so big. It's one area we really have to fix this year if we're going to have more success. Especially last year in our division, it was so tight and so many teams were so close.
BM: Like most NHL players Selanne returned home for the summer and took his mind off hockey.
TS: Family is most important for me especially now when I have kids. I always liked the situation that when I leave from the rink I don't to think about hockey and I don't want to talk about hockey when I go home. That's working well. But when you have kids you don't even have time to think about hockey. They are such a great age, 4, 3, and a little 5 month old baby. There is so much to do at home and enjoy the time. And I really realize too, that I'm playing way better hockey when I can spend more time with my family and I can reload the batteries from there.
BM: Now that the summer's over though, hockey is back on Temmu's mind, and he's focused on one thing - staying in the lineup.
TS: I don't really have any goals for myself, I haven't had for a long time. Of course I want to play well and help our team to win the games. But every year before the season I really hope that I can play healthy, without injuries. I'm very lucky that I play with great players and for a good organization that gives me a chance to do this, what I really love to do. When I'm 100% I know I can do some damage, so I really hope I can stay healthy.
BM: Now with the off season addition of center German Titov the ducks should have more fire power than in the past.
TS: I think we're going to have more depth this year, there's alot more speed on this team right now. And that's one thing that we really want to take advantage of. Skating ability and speedness, that's the one thing that you're going to have success with in this league. So we are pretty excited about our team right now, but the bottom line is we have to do those things on the ice. It's easy to talk about these kind of things - if you don't do anything - so just do it.
BM: As far as playing hockey in Anaheim there's only one thing that could make this native of Helsinki Finland happier.
TS: If we would have a Stanley cup team here, this would be paradise and that's what we're shooting right now. We have to be patient of course. The ability of the team is not so simple thing and it's not such an easy thing to do. But you know especially for myself and a guy like Paul. We don't have to prove anything to anybody. Everybody know's what kind of player we are, and we know exactly what kind of player were are. The Stanley Cup - it's the one thing that we want to achieve.
BM: Teemu, one of those wonderful combinations of an athlete, great guy and incredible player. We wish him all the best in the year 2000. We're going to take a break on Fire on Ice. When we come back were gonna take a look at the man who makes this club fly. He wear's the 'C' on his sweater - Paul Kariya - when we return.

Thanks, kjesse, for the recap. But what a teaser you are! Keeping #9 last! You'd better hurry up on your typing. Otherwise some of us may expire from waiting. :)

BTW, mano, I'm surprised that you haven't made a connection between Michelle's new SP dress and MD's uniform. You know, the purple underneath black. ;)

I just took a Feng Shui class today. It talks about the meaning of each color. I think the colors best for winning are: red (it has to be red red, not wine or maroon), gold, yellow, pink and plum, especially red, gold and plum. I hope Michelle is reading this.

Anyone watched last night's Miss America? I haven't seen it for years. I caught it last night while I was working on my web site. I'm glad Miss Haiwaii won. She's gorgeous in the simple halter red gown. But I like Miss California even more. She finished third (second runner-up). She's Chinese American, the first Asian American to win California title. She's a 3.99 graduate of Stanford, majoring in biology. She's going to med school. She confessed that she didn't know how to apply makeup until six months ago. She played great piano. She's not as stunning as Miss Haiwaii, but she's very endearing in a goofy and friendly way. If I were a Stanford biology graduate with a GPA of 3.99 and going to med school, I probably would think most of those beauty contestants as bimbos. I probably would look down on all of them. She didn't. More credit to her. Although I wonder why she would compete in this. Her brownish/antique gold gown is quite interesting too, but probably not the best for beauty pagean. I have never seen anyone won in a brownish gown. What's up with those two blonds who finished fourth and fifth? Both of them have this puffy shoulder-length, Mary Hart hairdo. It made them both look older than they actually are. Comes to think of it, the first runner-up, an African American, also had the same 80's hair style. Miss Haiwaii and Miss California pulled their hair back into a bun at the nape. It's much more sophisticated and elegant. I think Michelle can try the knot-at-the-nape style. It should look good on her. It should be easier to make than the bun.

Me, miss a thing like that, Michelle in purple and black??? Ha!!! My BFFFer antenna went haywire when I heard the colors she was wearing for her sp. Smells like Ducks Fanfair invite. Think about it, she's skating Eric Clapton music, something PK likes, I think, and plus most guys would appreciate it over classical so the fans won't get bored, AND she's wearing Duck colors, I mean how can you not miss???

Chemy, just add PK in purple and black to this pic by Luenatic and you got yourself one cute looking couple in action.

if.yimg.com/f/469713d9/h/.../mksp2.jpg (http://if.yimg.com/f/469713d9/h/bc84e46d/mksp2.jpg)

Or better yet, check out this pic by Diane Nowain featuring Michelle in a come hither look.

www.shasta.com/nowain/fsp...R2_F16.jpg (http://www.shasta.com/nowain/fsphotos/10-12-00_M00_R2_F16.jpg)

I bet she was supposed to skate last year too, that's why she skated to Jeff Beck's ADITL in candy apple red like PK's Lexus, but since they didn't have a Fanfair, she didn't get a chance to. Just kidding, Michelle's probably too busy to do another Fanfair...and then you got PK's groupies probably going to have coniptions if she's there again. *Shudder* That and you're going to get hard core hockey fans who think figure skating isn't a sport and think the Duck's are wusses if she's invited again. So odds are against Michelle and another Fanfair.

Crap, due to the move I didn't have time to shop to get PK anything for his B-day. Then my plan to have Michelle pop out of a cake didn't fall through 'cause I couldn't get the baker to stop laughing at my idea before he threw me out of the shop. Oh well, maybe next year.

Yingshan, I agree, why would they pick those two blondes? One was so off-key in her piano. Miss New Jersy (? from those east coast states)looked better.
I would not think they were bimbos. All these are young prefessional women. Nothing wrong to show off one's "physical fitness".;) If I were a couple inches taller, I would think about entering it during my sabbatical, just for fun. Maybe that is why they decide to get rid of that "pangent" (sp?) thingy?

I liked Miss New Jersy better too. She's so much prettier than those two blondes in the top five. I thought Miss Michigan, who's black, was more regal and prettier than Miss Louisana. I don't know why people thought Miss Louisana should win. Her talent wasn't that special either. Yeah, she could hit the high notes but her voice was hardly smooth. I don't like her voice at all. Miss Kentucky's (?) piano was off key? I could hardly hear her since the background music was stronger than her piano, probably intentionally so. :) Miss California's piano blew her out of the water, IMO. I still want to see Michelle try Miss Hawaii's hair style one day.

BTW, I was browsing through the pics taken by Andrea Chempinski from Scratchspin.com that Brian gave a link for in Fan Chat and noticed something that I didn't notice before. Did you guys know that Michelle's debut of "Kissing You" was on Paul Kariya's B-day, 10/16/99? How did I miss that?

Part IV - Fire On Ice
Interview with Paul Kariya, (PK) & Bill McDonnald (BM), interview takes place in locker room, immediately following an on-ice workout.
BM: No show would be complete, of course, unless we got to talk to the captain about what's going on this year. As you asked me a moment ago, how was your summer? What'd ya do most of it?
PK: I spent most of my summer right here, I visited my folks in Vancouver for a week in August, got some homecooking, other than that I've been around, just working out and getting healthy.
***note, any time he talks about his family he constantly smiles and his eyes totally light up.
BM: (looks into camera) You know, it's funny, everytime the team goes up there, he gets a home cooked meal. And sometimes the team gets to go up there too. (looks back at PK) What does she cook? What's your favorite meal? I've never actually dialed in to exactly what is your favorite meal.
PK: Well my mom's a great cook, I was spoiled up there. 3 brothers grew up there. We had 4 meals a day, right when we wanted them. Breakfast, she's great at making omelettes. Lunch - soups, she's really good at soups, homemade chicken noodle soup. Her speciality is probably green peppers.
BM: (looks into camera) See, smile on his face and now his stomach is probably growling, I can hear it.
PK: I'm hungry.
BM: I know, We'll let you out of here in a minute. Your off season conditioning was alittle different this year, what did you do different this year.
PK: Well first of all I just focused on getting healthy. I had a couple of nagging injuries over the past couple of years and I really just tried to give my body a rest and get to 100%. I feel great now, I'm rested and I'm ready to go.
BM: Less on the weight stuff?
PK: Ah.....
BM: Or different?
PK: Different. Once I started to hit it, I did my normal workout. But I think the difference was, if I was feeling tired on Thurs or Fri, instead of pushing through the workout, I would take a couple of days off, and give my body a chance to rest up.
BM: How often do you skate in the off season and how often do you just do weights and other things, running: and getting into conditioning and that stuff?
PK: I always start my skating up in Vancouver, that's usually at the start of August. I skate with my two brothers up there and we just rent the ice and work on some drills, so basically for the month of August I'm skating but up until that point I'm just lifting weights, run, bike swim, do some other things, get my mind off hockey.
BM: (looks into camera) How cool is that? To be a Kariya and just go ahead and rent the entire rink, for your workout, with your brothers? That's got to be fun.
BM: (looks back at PK) You're a patient guy but you're a very competitive guy, and I know it's wearing on you tht the team didn't make the playoffs. This is a year that the team and you got to turn things around.
PK: As a team we didn't do the job last year. Individually I didn't do the job to get us into the playoffs. So I think everyone has come into camp in terrific shape and we're ready to make a difference this year and get off to a good start right away.
BM: Is the camp effort alittle bit different this year, additude wise or regiment wise?
PK: I think in terms of our conditioning everyone came into camp in great shape and I know Craig was really happy with our conditioning. Everyone worked really hard this summer. We gotta do that - when we missed the playoffs last year everyone had to raise their fitness level so we can play a faster, higher paced game.
BM: You know, alot has bee made, real quick, you know you're a quiet guy, you keep to yourself alot, but you are a leader on the ice. Have you gotten alittle more vocal with the team in your years now that you've been in the league a few years?
PK: (smiles) Well you don't see the stuff in the locker room.
BM: Exactly, probably, that's true. (looks into the camera smiling) What we don't know, we don't know, do we? Stays in the room.
PK: I've been pretty vocal around the room for a number of years now. I think what's different is how I want to approach it. If guys aren't putting in the effort on a particular day in practice then I've got to make sure that the efforts their everyday, and especially during the game days. And that's something I haven't done, I've just sort of focused on what I have to do to be ready. But if our team isn't ready to play then none of us are going to have success. So I've got to shift that focus around.
BM: (as a clip from last years allstar games is playing. It's the one where PK and 3 players are on an ice pond tapping their sticks on the ice in respect for the 'old timer' players standing on the snow) Lastly, a neat thing in the allstar game last year, in the passing of the torch from the old stars to the new stars. Are you OK with that role, being part of the spokesmen for the National Hockey league?
PK: Absolutely. Everyone has to do their part to promote the game and help the NHL grow. I believe it's the greatest game in the world and it's part your job, and what you do, to speak with the media, to make yourself available to fans, and to promote the game. And it's something that I'm starting to enjoy. You want to see the game grow because you have a passion for it, and we do want to see it do really well.
BM: (to PK) Appreciate the time. (turns to camera) One of these days he's gonna take us through that whole stretch regiment of his, you can't believe this thing, we'll have him do it. (after he said that PK, he's kind of looking down, lifts his eyes up, smiles and looks into the camera. absolutely gorgeous) I'll do it - I'll probably pull a hamstring, probably, doing it at the same time. You fans don't know how lucky you are to watch this guy each and every day. Paul Kariya, he's the captain of the Mighty Ducks.

Sorry that took so long to post, but it took me a long time to transcribe that from video. Since I missed my bus this AM to post the above and am now waiting for the next one I just I'd add my extra 2 cents.

In some earlier BFFF thread someone was talking about a girlfriend who was mentioned a recent duck function, remember some girl asking him to marry him? Well I agreed with what was posted about him not wanting to hurt feelings or discuss personal things. But I just want to say that Billy McDonnald, the guy who did the Fire on Ice program, is the really nosey type and if PK has a serious girl than Billy wouldn't hesitate teasing PK about it. He is the normally TV guy with this team and spends alot of time with them.

Bye now, gotta fly.

Thanks kjesse!!! Thanks so much for making a transcript of the whole Fire on Ice thing this year. Much appreciated!!! I've always wanted to know what they talk about there. BTW, I think Kariya's Korner has the screen captures for that Paul interview. Just a few things...

<!--EZCODE QUOTE START--><blockquote>Quote:<hr> Lunch - soups, she's really good at soups, <!--EZCODE BOLD START--> homemade chicken noodle soup<!--EZCODE BOLD END-->.<hr></blockquote><!--EZCODE QUOTE END-->

Neat.

Do tell!!! I'd love to see what kind of stretching this guy does. Hope he's shirtless and kjesse can make a tape and send that to Michelle!!! Oh joy!

Whenever the MD are on FSW/FSW2 they usually have the 30min pregame show 'Ducks on Ice'. I always try to watch/tape that show & the game. If anything comes up I'll pass it on.

Has anyone ever sent Michelle the Wild Wing stuffed beanie toy? It's very cool, I have one and it protects (it's the enforcer) my other stuffed babies.

:) fellow beefers, I have been away from beeferland for a few days, how are you. I am off today so I have a lot of time on my hands. LOL about the reaction to MK's lp. Someone at fsw said her music sound like funeral music, yikes. That sent me digging up all the funeral music. I am listening to Faure' Requiem as I type. Don't be gloom about it, her music is not funeral music. Mano, if I help let the music grab you, then when I come to NJ area, the duck is on you. BTW high priesess, do I get a pay check? :)

I need to ramble on a bit more before I get on topic. Black swans are the most graceful and beautiful. I think most people misunderstand them b/c of the black swan from the ballet. Black swans are proud, graceful, elegant and have bright red bills, very striking.

Some music experts already pointed out that her lp: Song of black swan (cello and harp) by Villa lobos, and piano trio (violin, piano , cello) op 90 by Dvorak

Think of the cello as the black swan, the harp as the gentle spring breeze, violin as baby swans and piano as baby ducks. :lol :lol :lol ;)

The music began with the cello and harp, think of a graceful, sensual, beautiful black swan just gliding through the waters in a bright spring day with the breeze ever gently blowing and the swan was feeling the touch of the breeze. That was the beginning of the program up to just before her 3/3. Then the music changed. Swimming towards her were the baby swans and baby ducks. They were all over the place, playful, full of mischief. The black swan had infinite patience. She guided them along, tried to teach them to be gradeful birds. For a while it seemed like it worked. ( BTW the harp was gone, of course, the black swan was so busy with the baby swans and baby ducks she forgot about the spring breeze.) Then the baby ducks/swans were full of mischief again. So the black swan with a good sense of humor even played a little bit with them. Then it seemed like things were quiet again, the babies were gliding along looking like graceful birds. All of the above is of course the rest of the program from the 3/3 to the back spiral, to falling leaf, spread eagle, death drop spin combo. Just as the black swan was so proud and went into a triumphant scratch spin, the babies tried once more to be funny. The black swan quickly calmed them then finished with a wing it triumphant pose. :lol

LOL, if you really believe my explanation you are in trouble.;)

Seriously I think if the program is skate to full potential this could be a masterpiece. I think even the huge bun gives a more mature look. There is potential for this to be etheral, graceful program with a lot of fire and intensity.

If I seem like grabbing at straws, maybe I am, learn that from Mano. :)

lol skatingfan...interesting explanation...I've only been able to see it 3 times so far (2 times really because my brother called when it was first being shown so I couldn't concentrate fully) because just about every time I'm in my room my roommate is watching TV...but the next time I see it I'll try to imagine that ;) ...

first off, thanks Skatingfan for that interesting explanation. I would love to find out the real story behind Michelle's Song to the Black Swan.

BTW skatingfan, let an expert like myself show you the true meaning of "grasping at straws." Read the following:

Did you guys notice Michelle at the Kiss and Cry at Masters and Skate America? Is it me or is she doing the "touch nose, wiggle right ear, wink right eye" routine twice now? At Masters, she first did her usual routine with her right hand then she does it AGAIN later with her left hand, touching nose, wiggling her left ear, winking left eye. My theory is, that's for Paul 'cause you know, he shoots left. BUT then at Skate America, she does her K&C routine twice but both of them on her right side. I still think the second one is for Paul 'cause first one is for family. She probably forgot to do it on the left hand 'cause she was disappointed with her performance then.

Next up, did you guys know that Paul would have probably been a golfer if he didn't take up Hockey? No joke. I think I read that somewhere and as soon as I find it, I'll post it. The guy can play. You know, with Michelle taking up tennis lessons and now hitting the links with her brother Ron, she's really taken a liking to stuff Paul really likes to do. :) :) :)

Do you guys think Paul got a hold of Vera Wang and told her to make some changes in the costume as in, don't show any cleavage, de-emphasize her beautiful shoulder area, and make sure she's not wearing any high-cut bloomers this time around?

BTW, when I do get my room/computer set up then I'll be able to participate more in BFFF. I'm not giving a set time 'cause eilaram is probably going to multiply it by 2 years or something.

and I think I'm coming down with something. I wonder if you guys saw the article on USA Today that was posted on Fan Chat. Michelle says that she went out on a few dates but didn't elaborate. I wonder if that is like when Paul says he dates moderately like in an article last summer. Who could be the lucky guy or guys...

www.usatoday.com/olympics.../ogv37.htm (http://www.usatoday.com/olympics/olyglory/og37/ogv37.htm)

Do you guys feel that Michelle is probably too famous for PK? You know, he's the shy type, might want a quiet wife without the fame of a rock star? She's been to a lot celeb parties and she's probably gone out with some Hollywood guy or met some UCLA guy at a party. I think I should stop on the stories now 'cause I think I'll just depress myself.

I think that story actually adds to the Black Swan program. :)

Michelle didn't say <!--EZCODE BOLD START--> who<!--EZCODE BOLD END--> the dates were with. For all we know, it could be someone we all know and she is protecting his identity. Or protecting herself from any rabid puckbunnies. ;)

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Do you guys feel that Michelle is probably too famous for PK? You know, he's the shy type, might want a quiet wife without the fame of a rock star?<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

Yeah, but when they went out, maybe all the attention would be on her. I think that would be better than having a guy who would be jealous or resentful if she got more attention than he did. Well, I figure at least PK wouldn't try to use her for her money or status or any of that stuff.

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> I think I should stop on the stories now 'cause I think I'll just depress myself.<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

Ha! Anything to get out of those TBCs! :evil

:( hope you'RE not coming down with what I have :( ...I can't believe it, our official straw grasper-atter seems to have given up hope :( ...either you or Lp could be right about who she's dating...but IMO until she's married or at least engaged there is still that very small chance that she will break up with whoever and start dating PK...this is fiction and as my brother says, we shouldn't muddy the issue with the facts...lol Lp...actually I'm not sure if the word stop (to put an end to any motion or action) is accurate, stop indicates that the action was being done in the first place: <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> ducks and runs <!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> :evil ;) ...

Time to post Chapter 34 of BFFF. I'm going to take a different approach to the intro to save band width.
