Hmmmm............., now that the handsome, rich and talented maestro Joshua Bell is also in the 50 list, shouldn't the MD get his acts together?

Dude, skatingfan, I can't believe it. Got tired of the Roman Numerals eh? Shucks I was hoping we get to Chapter MD someday ;)
BTW, from NY Newsday apparently there are still trade rumors going around for Teemu Selanne or the break-up of the Dynamic Duo. I hope that's not true, but either or, I better finish up my Ice Age Cometh gig else I'll run out of players from the MD. I...just...can't...get...myself...to write it all down yet. Hope I still remember where I was going with the story.

Guys, and gals this is off season, and there is no sightings of Mk/PK yet, here is something for you.
Go to rssif and check out that ridiculous thread about 50 most u*****t people thread. There is a story going on there, not about Mk that much, but Tim G is mentioned by a poster Villapauda. Have fun.

It's a newsgroup, so you have to have a newsreader to read it. If you have one in your browser, you can click on this link: <a href=news:rec.sport.skating.ice.figure>rec.sport.skating.ice.figure</a>
I've never linked a newsgroup before, so it might not work.
Someone has copied and pasted all the posts together, so when the story is done, I can post the link over here or copy it over.
Sorry about not posting the required elements, my computer is away for upgrading and won't be back until either later tonight or tomorrow.

Sorry guys, I still do not know how to make links. Anyway that rssif story seemed to grind to a stop now.
I guess you have all got a copy of People right?
Our girl rocks, she is the most beautiful of them all.
IMO Joshua is second tht is of course bias opinion.
You need to check out the Olympic beauty section too. I kept thinking who could be Mr. Summer olys Seatle. The closest one I could think of is that Fl swimming guy. Mr. L.A. looks good too, but he already has a gf. I guess #9 is still the #1 pick for our Michelle.

I have noticed Mr. Summer Olympics 200 being mentioned several times but I have no clue who you're talking about or how it came up...please tell me.
mano
May 1st, 2000, 09:10 PM
Skatingfan just loves to mention that Seattle Olys guy all the time to bug me, I think. Last year, prior to Nationals, Phil Hersh was doing one of his auditions for the National Enquirer type of article. He basically said that Michelle didn't have a boyfriend yet, but had her eye on a Seattle Olympics hopeful. Threw all of us BFFFers in a tizzy. What a nightmare that was.
Anywho, you know you're obsessed with the idea of MK/PK for so long that you think your new neice looks like the spitting image of MK and PK's future daughter. That and you think you have two cousins who could pass for the not so good looking versions of PK.
Littlepebbles, hope you get your computer in working order again so you can finish your Mulan story. I know, I know, I'm guilty of something too. I'll get there don't worry.

I only bring up Mr. S.O. Seatle when there are no MD stories here. Hint, hint.
You guys have to excuse me now while I gush, I just came from surfing clug tiger, I LOVE THAT TIGER. What a level headed young person. I can't wait to see his match play with Sergio in "Bighorn" TX.

I know I said my computer would be back Friday or Saturday, but there were some problems with the upgrading and I didn't get it back until late last night.
I have so good news that Kooky has not fallen off the earth. I had sent her an e-mail and she e-mailed me back. She said her work has been "pretty horrendous" and she works for a software company and they are getting ready to release to the customers and she'll be buried until September. She is also meeting up with Chemy and some others at COI in San Jose in a few weeks. BTW, she said 3X4 doesn't seem like Michelle's type.
Now that I have my pc back, I will post the RE.

BFFFers' Ten Commandments by Yingshan
10. You shall not put forth any KFC around MK's temple where we worship.
9. You shall put the success of our production above your personal gain (no whining about pay)
8. You shall do everything to further our causes, e.g. sending PK a MK's book, hinting of MK when you can talk to PK, no matter whether it makes you a laughingstock.
7. You shall not nominate any guys for MK lightly (You shall do a detailed background check before mentioning it here). Our girl deserves the best.
6. You shall not be vulgar in any creative writing or picture splicing.
5. You shall not throw yourself at any guy who we consider a good match for MK no matter how attractive you find him to be or how close you get to him. This is a non-competitive clause.
4. You shall not mention any BFFF outside of this thread, especially not in any PK Forum.
3. You shall have a sense of humor.
2. You shall not mistake any writings here as "news".
1. You shall bow to the high pristess's wisdom at all time!

For first time visitors WELCOME. This is 100% fan fiction. Fan fictioners agree to start a new chapter whenever the thread grows to 80 messages long. We also agree to never discuss this fan fiction material outside of Fan Fiction Land, i.e. we do not post any of this in rssif, FSW, or other threads in this MK forum etc. [Or the PK Forum] Fan fictioners are in the process of producing a play on MK and PK - Paul Kariya the captain of Mighty Ducks. The genius writer is Mano, contributing writers are Kooky, Yingshan (who is also the set designer), Wonder, A-Chan, and Littlepebbles. Chemy is the photographer. Magenta is the ultimate matchmaker, and the rest are managers of this co. I come here just to chill out. Sometimes we refer to MK as 6.0 b/c of the unprecedented # of perfect 6.0s she earned, and PK as #9, he wears #9.
Yingshan
To New Comers: Welcome to our fantasyland! The purpose of this place is for us to have some fun with our favorite skater: Michelle Kwan. We weave fictional accounts and speculations into very skimpy facts. So you'll be in serious trouble if you take what we say here seriously. And everything we say here are for your and our eyes only. None of this should be repeated elsewhere on the USNET, e.g. RSSIF, FSW.... [Or the PK Forum!!!!!]
We're creating a romance novel/movie script. It's temporarily named "Ice to Ice" (I like "Icy Affairs" better). The leads are Michelle Kwan ("6.0") and Mighty Ducks captain Paul Kariya (#9). No, we don't know whether there's anything going on between them. We pick them to write because we think they make a perfect couple. [And not only because they're both Asian, or Asian and 1/2 Asian!] The main screen writer is Mano. I'm the producer/editor. My partner in production is Magenta. Chemy is our photographer. Wonder is my co-editor. Skatingfan is our sound whiz. Blizzard is our art director. Kooky and annabelle are on our contributing writing team. Littlepebbles is our director.
Welcome to stay and watch our creative process. But please obey our confidentiality rule. We don't want our brilliant ideas being pirated.
One More Criteria.....
for anyone who wants to read here:
YOU NEED A SENSE OF HUMOR!
Mano
Do not adjust your monitors, you have just entered...the Boyfriends Fan Fiction Zone (AKA BFFF)
If you are feeling lightheaded, dizzy, and see Michael Jordan back with the Chicago BULLs (pun intended), you must STOP, click the "Back button" and seek medical attention quickly.
If you happen to have a good sense of humor and realize that this is truly 100 % PURE FAN FICTION, then welcome to our humble abode.
Remember, we are not responsible for any mental injuries that might occur upon seeing the fictional stories and pictures. In other words, enter at your own risk. However, we do offer BFFF Life Insurance. Ask one of our agents for more info.
Without further ado...(drum roll)
May I present the stars of the show...
Paul Kariya and Michelle Kwan (Standing Ovation)

This is LP here:
Not that PK fans aren't welcome, they are as long as they don't show up trolling, send threatening e-mails, or go running back to the PK forum bashing us and Michelle. Cause unfortunately all that stuff has happened. Hope everyone enjoys our antics and don't be scared of Yingshan, she only bites on Tuesdays. :oŢ
Note: It used to be Yingshan only bit on Tuesdays, but she has made it known that she bites when she is in the mood, so watch out for her.

it's about time!!! Better late than never, eh? Thanks Littlepebbles for the required elements. Place is like normal now. Glad Kooky is alright!!!
Oh, I feel so down, I haven't written anything yet and I'm so down. Yingshan is going to crispify me soon, gotta hide!!!
Kjesse, where art thou, kjesse?!? We miss you too!!! Hope everything is okay with you too. :( :( :(
And where's Chemy. We miss you too!!! We need spliced pics galore...BTW, did you ever get my email?
Okay, done lamenting. Got to get back to work. Teemu Selanne is a nominee for the Lady Byng trophy again this year, I doubt he's going to win it. The NHL Awards is on June 15 and will be shown on ESPN2. The theme is something to do with "Excellence". Here's to hoping our excellent girl, Michelle, will be invited to present this year. Here's also hoping PK will be her date. Man, wishful thinking is still in full gear. Aside from the MK/PK pic we had for Christmas, we really didn't hear anything remotely close to MK being in any hockey game...except for the pre-season one against the Kings and PK didn't even play. Sigh.

Here comes the frying pan... :)
I haven't finished my chapter one neither. I wrote almost 500 words last Saturday, but it's far from done and I don't want to post partial chapter. I'd like to edit the whole chapter after I finish it. I even changed the lead's name after I wrote the 500 words. Names are important. No, I didn't name her Michelle. :lol
6.0 and #9 aren't really uncooperative, are they? Michelle, BFFFers are hungry for whatever crumbs you can throw us. We need some news!

N o joke, Tim left Cleveland, he is considering either Frank Carroll in El Segundo,or C. Fassi of Lake A. He starts touring COI today, and will spend the next 14 days on tour thinking and finalizint the decision.
Tim, if you are reading I like you, I WISH YOU WILL CHOOSE
FASSI.
Frank's attention will be diverted to Tim, sorry guys, I am too protective of MK, and I am not even thinking fan fictioin.
This is urgent, I am going to sacrifice chicken, tofu, or even fast for Tim to make the right choice, and that is Fassi.

Oh, Crud!!! Dagnabit!!! What the?!? Skatingfan, please, please, please say it isn't so and this is your prostinated version of April Fool's day!!! Either or, Michelle still goes to Lake Arrowhead on Weekends and man this is so not good. Let me guess, he's going to continue his education at UCLA too, right? Okay, I think I'm going to throw up!!! Okay, how obvious is Timmy trying to be??? I'm pretty sure he's going to ask Frank 'cause hey, Lori is already his choreographer, I'm going to hurl!!! Sure, sure, he wants to be the best and is using MK's formula, but I think he's trying to get MK too!!! Oh somebody tell me this is a major joke. Pretty soon you all might have to call me extra up-chuck 'cause not even Linda Blair threw up so much!!!
Sigh...guess I have a new villain now. Oh PAUL!!! WHAT THE H*CK IS TAKING YOU SO LONG. THIS GUY IS GOING TO TOUR WITH YOUR GIRL AND PROBABLY TRAIN WITH HER TOO!!! DO SOMETHING PUHLEASE!!! Attention all the people going to the Anaheim COI, please bring your TG Repellent spray. If you don't have any, Lysol disinfectant will do, thanks!!!
Okay, I'll be fine. Medication, medication is good. Excuse me!!!

Hi, everyone. I've never posted here before, but I enjoy reading your stories. They're great.
Skatingfan, where did you hear about Tim's relocation to CA? Is it really true? I HAVE to know. I mean, I have nothing against Tim, but MK and PK are such a perfect match. How did you guys come up with PK in the first place, anyway? What would happen to BFFF if Tim trains with Frank, goes to UCLA, and... Uggghhhh... I can't even think about it :-(

Nevermind Skatingfan. I just visited the MK FAN CHAT and found the article at www.cleveland.com/sports/...goebe.html. I still can't believe this. It said that Tim's going to CA "to search for gold." But I can't help wondering how much this has to do with Michelle (of course it might has absolutely nothing to do with Michelle).

I'm inconsolable right now...so excuse me if my welcome isn't as enthusiastic, sob...sniff. Skatingfan is best at welcoming anyway, WAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!! BTW, you might have to search the earlier archives as to why we came to the conclusion that PK is the one of MK and vice versa. They're so not cooperating though and TG is becoming a major spoiler.
Okay, I'm alright now...my other selves are taking their turns crying their eyes out. Anywho, just discovered this at the Mighty Ducks' site which I never noticed before. I could have sworn it always said pasta and seafood or something but not this. Can anybody back me up. I read PK's bio again and his fave food is "Pre-game Meal - pasta & chicken..." Am I going crazy?!? I never saw chicken there before?!? Dude, this is weird wild stuff.

Sylvia welcome to MKf and BFFF. ((((((mandatory group hug))))))
Please check out the ornament petition thread, CMN Mkbirthday thread, and let People Mag know we love MK thread in Mk chat.
3X4 is going west in search of a golden girl for sure. So let's sacrifice chicken, tofu or fast , maybe he will choose Christa. I bet he will go with Carroll, and interviewing with Fassi was just to make an appearance of
really going west for gold and not just the golden girl.
About MK/PK fan ficition, you know if PK has a gf, BFFF can still go on , but when and if MK has a bf, then it will be MAJOR BUBBLE bursting time.
Lets channel all our energy and help Tim choose Christa.
mano
May 5th, 2000, 03:10 PM
Can't Tim just trip on the way over and choose Nicks or somebody as far from MK as possible instead? That or maybe Michelle decides that things are getting uncomfortable and starts skating at Disney Ice instead, yeah, yeah, that's it!!!
yingshan
May 5th, 2000, 10:21 PM
I wonder why Tim didn't consider John Nicks. Maybe #9 can contact some Kings' players who practice at the same rink as 6.0 to "watch" over her. Don't dispair, mano, we have to accept the fact that 6.0 will have a lot of guys chasing her. Maybe this will spark some action on #9's part. I wish. :( Hey, we have a new convert. See how many people we convinced since we started our "theory". Only if we can convince 6.0 and #9. :(
Silvia, welcome. But you picked a bad time to post your first post. As you can see, we're not in very good mood.

I'm, like, not able to come here for awhile and THIS is the news I get! NO WAY! I *like* Tim (thinks he's sweet and all) and he's getting better in presentation (thanks Lori), but NOT for Michelle! She needs (for lack of a better word) a MAN (no offense Tim, you're just a little young for our gal) like Paul.
I'm sacraficing everthing! Chicken, dogs, horses...my husband - j/k :) ! I know mano, it's <!--EZCODE BOLD START--> <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> your<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--><!--EZCODE BOLD END--> fault! Everything was going fine, well almost, until you <!--EZCODE BOLD START--> stopped<!--EZCODE BOLD END--> writing the ice ages! Time to step up and save our girl! BTW, I drive by (sort of) LA everyday, so I'll be leaving a trail of repellent to block him from even getting close :evil !

Michelle's teammates stared at the person they all had gotten to know as Mike. It was quiet enough to hear a pin drop. Finally, Matt whispered, "Mike...is that you?"
Michelle wasn't wearing her hockey gear or padding so it was obvious that she was not a guy. She nodded and stared at the ground. She whispered, "My name isn't Mike, it's Michelle." It was quiet for a few more moments then someone yelled out, "Hey! I know you! You're that ice skating girl from the Olympics!" The group erupted with noise.
Through all of this, Paul had just stood in shock. Finally, he said to the group, "Look, we need to get back to the game. Come on." Teemu said, "But what about Mi--" He was cut off by Paul. "I said let's go." He glared at Michelle and then walked back toward the ice. The rest of the team reluctantly followed, leaving Michelle by herself.
As the team got ready for the second period, Paul heard a voice in his ear. "Well, well, well! I can't believe that your best player is a girl!" It was Surfer. Paul tried to ignore him, but Surfer went on. "That is the most pathetic thing I've ever seen. I'm glad I put my money on the other team!" He walked away laughing. Paul felt more anger burn up inside him. His comments were salt in the wound of his star player's betrayal.
He wasn't the only person that took the whole thing hard. The entire team seemed to be lackluster on the ice. It seemed that the former team outcast had become the glue that held the team together. The Huns quickly scored three goals to give them a two goal lead. Finally, the period was over and the team went back into the locker room.
They were all very surprised to see Michelle there. She was cleaning out her locker. Her three friends went over to where she was.
Matt exclaimed, "Hey, where are you going?"
"I'm leaving," Michelle replied. "You guys won't have to worry about me anymore." She threw a practice jersey into a bag.
"WHAT?!" Teemu screeched. "Whadduya mean you're leaving??? You're our best player!"
"It'll be okay," Stu added encouragingly. "Coach will come around once he gets past the shock."
Michelle sighed. She wished it were that easy. "Even when he gets over the shock, I'll still be a girl and the tryout said no girls allowed." The guys frowned. It had said that. Suddenly the door opened and Paul walked in, followed by a middle-aged man. Paul went over to another bench without looking at Michelle. The other man came straight to Michelle and reached out to shake her hand.
"I have to congratulate you on your playing out there, young lady," he said smiling. "You looked just like a regular NHL player out there. I didn't even realize you were a young lady."
"Uh…thanks," Michelle stammered. "I'm glad you noticed Mr…."
"Jones. John Jones," the man said. "I put together all the tryouts here. Do you plan to come back out and play some more for the third period?"
"Well, I can't…you know, only male players allowed," Michelle said.
"What?" Mr. Jones looked as if this were news to him.
Matt said, "Yeah, it was on the tryout sign." He went to the back of the room and pulled out the hockey tryout sign that had "only male players accepted" scrawled on the bottom in magic marker.
Mr. Jones stared at the sign. Then he turned and left the room. A few minutes later he returned with Surfer. "Do you know anything about this?" Mr. Jones asked.
"Yeah," Surfer muttered. "I wrote it. So?"
"SO!" Mr. Jones roared. "So this is why no girls came to the tryouts."
"And why the one girl who did dressed in drag!" added a hockey player from the back of the crowd.
Surfer didn't seem sorry. "Who wants to see a bunch of chicks trying to play hockey? Why don't they just stick to wearing their prissy little tu-tus?"
"I for one have never skated in a 'prissy little tu-tu' and I don't plan to in the future either!" Michelle huffed.
"I figure skated the first year I played hockey and I didn't wear a tu-tu either," Paul added, the first he had spoken since he had come into the room. "In fact, it helped my hockey. You could probably use it yourself."
Mr. Jones said, "We will discuss this later. But the first order of business is to get Michelle back into the game."
"Pleeeeeeease," Teemu said sweetly. The rest of the team agreed. Michelle's eyes fell on Paul and he smiled and nodded in agreement. Michelle smiled back and then said, "Okay."
"Great!" Mr. Jones said, and slapped Michelle on her back. Then he grabber Surfer's ear and dragged him out of the room.

Littlepebbles, love the story and was smiling through out the whole thing...so...when are they going to kiss??? ;) ;) ;) Heheheheh, that's what I wish happened in the real Mulan, but, guess we'll have to wait for 2nd installment of that movie.
BTW, If there was a second Mulan movie (even if straight to video) hope MK skates that again, even one song of it and have PK act as Capt. Li Shang :) :) :) With a kissing scene!!! I'm kidding, it's not good to be too excited about something soooo fictional!!!

Hello fellow BFFFers. I have not been posting for quite sometime but I do drop by our safe haven whenever possible. Everybody seems to be fine and mano is back to her usual self. Yohooooo…....So, Chemy you were MIA like me too? What’s up?
Now, I just saw Shallah’s link to a picture of Michelle at the Blockbuster Award. Just wondering whether this is “the May charity event” that her horoscope says she will meet someone. Yingshan, where are you? We need the high priestess to give us her holy interpretation.
Hello to Lilpebs – nice story you got there. skatingfan, blizzard, Sharon, Annabelle, akime chan, eilaram – where is the MK tape you are compiling? Hey, I don’t mind doing the honor of sending it to #9 if you request me to do so. I did it once so second time is nothing. LOL.
Hello to mano – the BFFF founder; yingshan – co founder; chemy-photographer and everyone in this board!!

I'm not sure who's making the tape, but methinks they should include MK's snakeskin ensemble from the Blockbuster Awards. VA-VA-VAVOOM!!!
I have to ROTFLOL at Blizzard's "feed of Michelle" remark in Fan Chat. Good one. I was good though and didn't go there.
kJesse, where art thou!!!
Sharon, I started working on Ice Age, but my depressed state over the weekend slowed down my output, so I apologize again for the delay.
Yingshan, making yourself scarce again? You know what you have to do for the COI-Anaheim. Look out for kjesse 'cause I think she might go to that show. Haven't heard from her since the Ducks failed to make the playoffs and that was at the Hockey thread.
Okay, here's my wish list. I wish Michelle would be invited at the NHL Awards on June 15, 2000. I would love to see her all dressed up and give PK something to think about...although I would rather she was escorted by PK instead too. She doesn't have to worry about the Summer Quarter at UCLA yet 'cause it doesn't start until June 26 and ends August 7, 2000.
Also, the NHL has agreed to go back to the Olympics for 2002. Yes!!!

Magenta, I vote for you to go for it. And if you are putting in the effort why not go ahead and ask the MD to send an autograph copy of the #8, #9, and 6.0 picture to you. You should be reward with somethin, and of course give you a chance to drop one more hint.
The ultimate reward of course is some years down the road, we are brainstorming here at fiction land about sending baby blankets for little swans and ducklings. :)

Michelle had just finished her new exhibition program of The World Is Not Enough. She had skated perfectly. The audience was standing and clapping for what seemed like forever, when just as she was about to leave the ice, she looked up into the club level and noticed Paul standing in the center box. He is leaning towards her with both hands on the rail. His expression is serious. Intense.
She stops mid move. Her breath catches.
Their eyes meet. A sensual grin appears on Paul’s face.
A brief pause, and she nods her head and bows again. For him.
She skates off and rushes backstage to change for the Bolero finale. She’s trembling. She finally gets back to the curtain to wait for her entrance cue and she peeks out. She sees Paul is still there, and looking right at her! She drops the curtain nervously and waits.
Finally her cue comes and she skates out. She doesn’t look at Paul, but knows he’s there. She skates wonderfully. At the last pose, she lets herself peek briefly. No! He’s not there. She wonders what happened?
When she finishes on the ice, she goes backstage to change and leave to meet her family. As she’s leaving the dressing room, her head down and kind of distracted, she runs headlong into someone. Umph! She starts looking up and WOW. It’s Paul. She can tell, even though her eyes have only started going up. Her fingers are splayed against his chest and she discreetly lets them squeeze ever so slightly as she backs up a step.
Their eyes meet again as he says “Hi there. I’m Paul Karyia. We met at the charity event here last year.” She smiles, “Yes, I remember.” “Do you think we might go somewhere?” Paul asks. “I mean, if you don’t have any prior engagements. I’d really like to stay here and skate with you, but I had to leave my box early because there were some fans earlier trying to get in saying something weird like ‘they had to throw me out on the ice or something’”. Paul shakes his head “I don’t know what that meant, but there we’re quite a few of them, so I thought it best to leave before the end.”
She smiles secretly and says “I wouldn’t worry about those fans, I’m sure they’re pretty harmless. Anyway, I’d love to skate with you too, but I’m on my way to meet my family. Maybe another time?” Paul says “I know it’s Mother’s Day. I’ve already called my mom, but I was hoping you weren’t tied up all day or night?”
Just then, her mom comes down the hallway, looking for her. She sees Paul and smiles politely. “Shelley” her mom says. “We are waiting for you.” Michelle grins and introduces Paul. “Hello Mrs. Kwan” Paul says. Mrs. Kwan nods and says “I know you from the hockey games. My son is a big fan. Perhaps you would care to join us for an early dinner? Ron would love to meet you and I’m sure my husband would like to also.” Paul looks to Michelle who smiles demurely. “I’d love to.”

Congratulations on your first story!!! I love the whole feeling of it all. It's probably more realistic than the stuff we've been writing 'cause we sometimes have the two practically hitched when in reality they're probably just acquaintances. :lol :lol :lol Glad you can join the crew. Now I can send you on guilt trips too when you leave us hanging like I do. ;) ;) ;)
Hurry back soon to us skatingfan and tell Tiger to chill okay?
BTW, in the ESPN Mag, it mentions that Michelle started taking Tennis lessons two years ago. Paul lists tennis as one of his fave hobbies. Things that makes you hmmmmnnn. Another BTW, Paul's sister Noriko, who's about a year older than MK, is now a junior in Maine University. She's majoring in Psychology. I saw a short bio on her from a team roster they feature online. Plays hockey too (ice and field). Talented bunch, their whole family. They practically all play sports except maybe the oldest.

Sharon, hope your version will come true tomorrow. A little over 16 hours to go.
Magenta, about time for you to come back. I don't know whether the Blockbuster Award was THE event of May. It depends on whom 6.0 met that day. Too bad the poster who saw her arriving on local news didn't say whom she arrived with. That's the most important thing to us BFFFers.
Mano, what's the nonsence of leaving MKF? I thought your skin was thicker than this. Do you want to get the high priestess's secret formula that will thicken your skin overnight?
The chapter one is still not finished. I'm so busy recently. I'll be attending the COI tomorrow. Hopefully, I can go backstage, and of course, see #9 there. :) I'll go to Washington DC next Wednesday and won't be back until Sunday. Woohoo! The high pristess does Washington! Imagin that! :lol

I was with two friends from the rssif in the Pond so I couldn't really check the crowd with binocular like last year. They would think me as weird. It's also hard to check out a huge crowd in the dark. And the friend who could take us to backstage didn't make it. He just flied back to LA this afternoon. It was a lot to ask for him to go from airport directly to the Pond. So no backstage visit. Quite a disappointment for a BFFFer. But the show was wonderful, probably the best COI I've seen in years. And the friends from rssif were great companies. We went to dinner afterward and discussed each skater's performance. It's great to talk to others who are both knowledgable of skating and crazy about the sport as I am. :) I'll try to post a review in the MK Fan Chat...if I can keep my eyes open long enough.
Deputy high priestess would be Magenta of course. Magenta, I'm counting on you to keep the order here while I'm out of the town.

Interesting stuff I found on the Sporting News:
by Elliot Teaford of LA Times dated May 15, 2000
<!--EZCODE BOLD START--> Paul Kariya actually took a vacation.<!--EZCODE BOLD END-->
<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> It's believed to be the <!--EZCODE UNDERLINE START-->first since he came to the NHL for the Ducks captain,<!--EZCODE UNDERLINE END--> a renowned gym rat in the offseason. But Kariya said at season's end he was planning to scale back his offseason workout routine after over-doing it last summer and injuring his hip.
So, it was off to Hawaii for Kariya and it was a relief to Gauthier, whose smile indicated he was pleased to know one of his star players was at last willing to forget about hockey for awhile. . . .<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->
***
Everybody's wondering who he went with. Obviously it ain't Michelle. Only other folks I know who went to Hawaii was coach Hartsburg and his family so maybe PK hitched a ride. Doubt it, but sounds better than "PK was seen in Hawaii with a Baywatch Babe at his side" or something just as depressing. BTW, reminds me of Michelle who took a vacation after a long and busy 1998. It was reported that she's never been off the ice more than 2 days or so beforehand. She also went to Hawaii. Maybe she suggested it to PK. (Grasping, grasping at straws!!!)
One thing for sure, he doesn't have the skin type that tans well...I think. Probably burns to a crisp. Good, somebody else gets crispified!!!

Magenta, the high prietess is un-crispifiable. State dinner at the White House? My interest in the White House is very low, next to the zero actually. I'm hoping to catch the Preakness horseracing on Saturday. This will be the closest I get to a Triple Crown race. I still haven't figured out how to get there.
Mano, #9 is in Hawaii? Did it say when he would be on vacation? It IS interesting that both 6.0 and #9 vacation in Hawaii. We just need to figure out how to make them vacation at the same time. :) I have some info for 6.0's itinary in my Anaheim review thread in MK Fan Chat.

I don't think PK took his vacation now. The article didn't really state a date, but it has a past tense feel to it. Here's another online article take on it. Similar to what was reported in Sporting news but sort of ties McInnis going under the knife with PK's vacation time:
M.Damian - Rivals Editor.
Anaheim, Ca (Rivals MDI)- Mighty Ducks LW Marty McInnis <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> underwent successful sports hernia surgery 2 weeks ago<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> in Boston, Mcinnis began having problems skating in February and played in only 11 games through February, March and April.
McInnis, a restricted free agent July 1, is expected to recover in 4 to 6 weeks and should be ready for a September training camp.
SUN DUCK
<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> While Mcinnis was under the knife<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->, teammate Paul Kariya was soaking up some rays in Hawaii during a <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> recent vacation<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->. The Ducks captain is well known for his intense off season training schedule, and for over doing it to the point of injury.
***
Also, LA Times had an article on Coach Hartsburg indicating that he just got back from vacation in Hawaii with his family. The article was dated May 10. It's been said that PK has a good relationship with the Coach, who is almost like a father figure or mentor of sorts to him. Sheesh, where did I read that before. Whatever.

Dr. Filip has been snapping orders to his assistant all day. Things are moving so slow, he is becoming impatient. In some ways he is lining up his ducks nicely, but things still seem to be progessing too slow for him. He is glad that #9 accepts the endorsement offer and is on his way to Hawaii to shoot the commerical. Of course #9 does not know that Miss Tropicana Finland will be in the same commercial. Now if he can only get 6.0 agree to come to the opening of the free medical clinic in L.A......

So you should work on your story, Mano!
Well, since I all but promised that I would post more of my story by the end of this week, here it is. As of the time on my computer clock, I made it by 22 minutes. It's a little shaky since I've been under the weather this weekend and also suffering from a little writers block.
The Third Period
The hockey team went back out on the ice to finish the hockey game with the Huns. One of the players, who had not been seen during the second period, had a bit of dark hair that peeked out from the bottom of his hockey helmet. A cheer went up from the crowd when they recognized Mike. Paul called them all over to the bench to give them one last pep talk and "Mike" took his helmet off. There was a loud gasp from the crowd and then it went silent. They were all shocked at seeing that "Mike" was Michelle, and a few recognized her as "Michelle Kwan, famous figure skater".
Surprised whispers went through the crowd. "He's a girl??", "She looks familiar." Michelle asked if she could take the opening face off. Paul let her take it, but he wasn't sure if she would get out unscathed, especially since the Hun that had injured her was facing off for the other team, but Michelle insisted, so he said okay.
She skated out to center ice to face the Hun. As the referee blew his whistle, Paul held his breath. He shouldn't have worried because before the Hun could even blink, Michelle had taken the puck, passed it to one of her teammates and was out of reach. A few plays were made and then Matt scored a goal.
Score: 4-3 Huns
Another face off, some more plays. Stu took two of the skinnier Huns out in a corner and Teemu raced down the ice to score another goal. The arena cheered as Stu picked the two Huns up off the ice, brushed off the ice chips, and hoped he hadn't hurt them any.
Score: 4-4
There was less than two minutes on the clock. Michelle, the "Gang of 3", and another player were on the ice. They moved around on the ice looking for an opening to score a goal. Michelle got slammed in the glass wall, while the same thing happened to Matt on the other side of the rink. Finally, when there was 30 seconds left on the clock, one of Michelle's teammates got the puck and went flying down the ice. He passed the puck to Matt, who passed the puck to Michelle, who shot it into the net. Then the buzzer went off.

I can't wait until the next installment. Good story although I think Center's Rucchin, and Cullen might have something to say about having a 5'2" player taking over their job. But hey, nobody was able to stop Mulan from saving China so who are they to bug Michelle. AND you better have a kiss in the end. I felt so deprived when the Captain and his girl didn't have one in the movie except for a dinner. Pocahontas had like what 9 kissing scenes with two different guys in two movies??? And it's supposed to be rated G and we get Mulan and boom, NADA!!! Okay, I'll stop my rant now, I see security pushing their way to my soapbox.
Eeeek, Sharon, I know, I know, I won't retire the story, just can't get rid of the major writing block that's in my head. Actually, haven't touched it since my work has been so stressful and that's been going on for a while now. Littlepebbles can back me up on that. All apologies for the lateness...it will get done eventually. For now, keep enjoying Littlepebbles Mulan stories.

didn't know so many people agreed with my rant. But who wasn't disappointed when the credits started rolling and we were oh so deprived of such a romantic kiss. It's like the only one they had where we didn't see a trace of it, not even a peck on the cheeck. Even the Lion King saw more action than Li Shang and Mulan. I mean we got the birds and the bees and circle of life and boom, Lion King II.
You know, come to think of it, Beauty and the Beast II was a total dud 'cause I thought they'd focus more on Belle and the HUMAN beast and maybe a kid or two, but NO, just rehash the first story and say "oh, forgot to add another chase scene" and wasted money on that, Grumble, grumble. And I don't think they kissed on that one either.
Ax to grind with Disney cutting out the nice kiss scene. Hey you know, I think Leah Salonga said she sang a duet with what's his name...Donnie Osmond and there was supposed to be marriage scene too, but Disney cut it off because they felt it would take away from the docudrama type of feel that they wanted for Mulan. Yeah, I've paid another $9.00 bucks to watch Mulan again and again with the marriage scene. ASK me how much I watched Beauty and the Beast, the original movie??? 5 times, yup, missed taking the SAT for that too 'cause I wanted to be stuck in the movie theater re-living the nice transformation and kiss scene in the end for Belle and the human Beast (who we never got a name for). And I think they kissed twice for that too.
Yes, say it, say it. mano is unbelievably pathetic when it comes to Disney Animated romantic kissing scenes. Okay, enough rant. This is #80 and Littlepebbles is off to start a new one.
