Beefers, sorry,I can not open a new chapter like LP, but
I must say this.
She won. I can't wait to tape her TRV lp. There is a lesson to be
learnt for all athletes. Hope her journey to world champ this
year will inspire a lot of people including the MD.

I am seriously considering making that video for the MD myself.

long time no see errr write! and wow she won? that was kinda a spoiler but that's ok...it's kinda comforting to know that....anyhoo, any OC peeps see the article in the sports section of the OC register? it was on wed. i think....it analyzed the signatures of some of the mighty ducks....and PK was in it...i forgot what it said, but it said something about his underlining his name....i threw it away (gosh darn it!) but if anyone could find it...it'd be great...anyhoo hope you guys have a good week...i know i will...i'm going to magic mt. on mon. with my physics class to do a project!

you see Vanessa in the kiss and cry and say outloud "How come someone gave HER a duck and not Michelle" and then you mom looks at you strangely because she has no clue what you're talking about...nothing else to say or report.

I stayed away last week for...er, religious reason. And I was busy at sacrificing chickens on Friday and Saturday. My assistant Mano didn't show up so the High Pristess had to do all the rituals herself. How undignified! The Extra Crispy will be a shade more brown once I find her.

Littlepebbles, your writer's check is in the mail. Great job! But could we get a real bathing scene? <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :) --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON STOP--> I'm on such a high since yesterday that I can't do anything else today. What a weekend! I check out Friday's USA Today in a Barnes & Noble today. Wow! MK's picture is on the front page and it's 1/4 page big! What a nice picture and article!

I think your invite for the live Chicken sacrifice got lost in the mail so I didn't even know you were having one until I read you sacrificed a bunch in the spoilers thread. Hey, you got it right this time and MK won, hehehe. BTW, I think littlepebbles was trying to stay away from the Mulan "bathing scene" 'cause it would have violated one of the Beefers commandments which you wrote, ahem, "pot, kettle, black," if I should say so myself ;) ;) ;)

Me, I would like to thank the Ducks for not giving Michelle the flu this time around. Thank Michelle for not watching any Ducks games live 'cause their poor, unergetic, and unispired play could have rubbed off on her. :evil Hehehe, time to hide from diehard fans like meself, else I get flamed, I'm crispy enough as it is and getting crispier as per Yingshan.

LOL, Eilaram, great minds think alike 'cause I said the same exact thing or something to the effect of "hey, a Duck, how come Michelle didn't get one..."

A-chan, how can you not save that article on the Ducks? I checked the OCregister online and saw an article about player's signing autographs but it didn't have an analysis of each player's signatures. I, too, would love to see what it said about Paul's. I also would love to see how Michelle's signature tells us about her that we don't already know, like she's a super lovable person, but PK is too clueless to notice. Now we got Yags trying to make moves on Kwan and the Kings seemed to have gotten benefit of Kwan training on their turf. They are in the playoffs, bummer.

mano

I found the signature analysis thing you mentioned. I found it in Ayaz's Kariya Yahoo club. Sometimes you just got to love those guys. Posted by alibabanyc:

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START-->Paul Kariya -- "The most outstanding trait (shown by his signature) is self-reliance along with high intelligence. The way he underlines his name is not a common trait. It means he's very self-reliant and makes no excuses. What he's saying (by underlining the signature) is, 'This is me.' It's like putting a period or an exclamation mark on it. When he says he is going to do something, he commits 100 percent and does it. He makes no excuses and accepts none for himself. He's harder on himself than anyone else. He's very determined and always completes what he starts. His high intelligence makes him a leader but he doesn't want to be a leader who has to baby sit. He's a technician, not a people person. He's not in it for the approval of fans or anyone else. He's in it for the love of mastering the technical parts of his job."<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

Yup, that sums up Paul Kariya pretty well.

The team was in a slump, and #8 thought of a way to fire up his
buddy. He showed #9 the Yags/Mk gala picture. That inspired
a win in Nashville.

Actually #9 was so worked up after he saw the pic, his best
friend had to literally give him a hockey check to slow him down.

#8, 'Listen buddy, you need to be wise about these things.
#9, "How."
#8, "Call her again and tell her how adorable she was in
worlds, congratulate her, and tell her you have a gift for her,
and don't bring up this Yuak guy"
#9, " I have sent flowers, candies, and stuff animals."
#8, " How about a ring."
#9, "Oh, we have been through that, and she hates to wear rings."
#8, " Of course she refused in the past, you always put it in terms of
committment, she is only 19. Now get a ring with 3 diamonds, call it
the Heart of a Champion ring. She will be more agreeable, b/c
she is in a post world celebration mood."
#9, "It is nice to give her a gift to celebrate her win, but how
would this help. That Yauks guy is touring with her."
#8 gave a gentle tap on his friend's head, " Think, if she wears it
even on her R. hand it tells the world something. You may
call it a Championship ring when you present it to her. Everybody
including your competition will think of it as a committment ring."

So the 2 best friends shopped, and got a perfect ring for 6.0, and sent that
special delivery to N.Y. #8 called Karen and asked for her help, and
of course Karen agreed.

Big Kwan was helping her little sister trying on the different outfits
for her today show, and Regis show when the special
package, and flowers arrived. 6.0 was happy to see the note,
and the flowers. She looked at the lovely ring and became rather
subdued.

Karen, " Lovely ring."
6.0," Yes, he called it a Championship ring, but I
usually do not wear rings"
karen sensed her little sisters' reluctance, and being the
all wise big Kwan she also knew the thoughts behind
#9's ring. She gently embraced her little sister and
said, " silly little Kwan, you conquered the world three
times, don't be afraid of wearing a ring, and such a
beautiful one. Now give me your right hand, and
try it on. I think it will look wonderful on tv"
6.0, " Oh no , not to the today show."
Karen, "Why not, well one draw back
the diamonds are huge, and you have such
small hands. Hmmmmmmmmm... let me see,
I got it, wear this bracelet, and that would
take the attention off the ring a bit."
Karen brewed a cup of herbal tea for her little sister.
6.0 drank the tea, and fell asleep, with the ring in
her hand, and she started to dream about little
swans and ducklings.

Karen called #8, " Mission accomplished, and please
tell your good friend that he, or they owe me their first born."
#8 was ROTFLOL, "Karen, get in line, I believe they
owe Magenta, the beefers....... the same."

I went back and looked for the ring and the bracelet. You have sharp eyes! The ring looked like a platinum band with small diamonds in a line. Yes, she wore it on her right 4th finger. The bracelet was in dark ruby red. It doesn't look anything valuable, more like a nice fashionable accessory. But the ring could be real diamonds. A "friendship" ring (as many actress in Hollywood wear)? You might stumble on something here. Hmm...

Ducks' playoff chance is looking bleak. Could the May charity function become a reality? Michelle will be back in S. California in mid May, I believe. COI's stop in Anaheim will be around mid May. Will Disney or CMN ask her to chair a charity fundraiser with #9? Stay tuned! <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :) --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON STOP-->

BFFFers' Ten Commandments by Yingshan
10. You shall not put forth any KFC around MK's temple where we worship.
9. You shall put the success of our production above your personal gain (no whining about pay)
8. You shall do everything to further our causes, e.g. sending PK a MK's book, hinting of MK when you can talk to PK, no matter whether it makes you a laughingstock.
7. You shall not nominate any guys for MK lightly (You shall do a detailed background check before mentioning it here). Our girl deserves the best.
6. You shall not be vulgar in any creative writing or picture splicing.
5. You shall not throw yourself at any guy who we consider a good match for MK no matter how attractive you find him to be or how close you get to him. This is a non-competitive clause.
4. You shall not mention any BFFF outside of this thread, especially not in any PK Forum.
3. You shall have a sense of humor.
2. You shall not mistake any writings here as "news".
1. You shall bow to the high pristess's wisdom at all time!

For first time visitors WELCOME. This is 100% fan fiction. Fan fictioners agree to start a new chapter whenever the thread grows to 80 messages long. We also agree to never discuss this fan fiction material outside of Fan Fiction Land, i.e. we do not post any of this in rssif, FSW, or other threads in this MK forum etc. [Or the PK Forum] Fan fictioners are in the process of producing a play on MK and PK - Paul Kariya the captain of Mighty Ducks. The genius writer is Mano, contributing writers are Kooky, Yingshan (who is also the set designer), Wonder, A-Chan, and Littlepebbles. Chemy is the photographer. Magenta is the ultimate matchmaker, and the rest are managers of this co. I come here just to chill out. Sometimes we refer to MK as 6.0 b/c of the unprecedented # of perfect 6.0s she earned, and PK as #9, he wears #9.

To New Comers: Welcome to our fantasyland! The purpose of this place is for us to have some fun with our favorite skater: Michelle Kwan. We weave fictional accounts and speculations into very skimpy facts. So you'll be in serious trouble if you take what we say here seriously. And everything we say here are for your and our eyes only. None of this should be repeated elsewhere on the USNET, e.g. RSSIF, FSW.... [Or the PK Forum!!!!!]

We're creating a romance novel/movie script. It's temporarily named "Ice to Ice" (I like "Icy Affairs" better). The leads are Michelle Kwan ("6.0") and Mighty Ducks captain Paul Kariya (#9). No, we don't know whether there's anything going on between them. We pick them to write because we think they make a perfect couple. [And not only because they're both Asian, or Asian and 1/2 Asian!] The main screen writer is Mano. I'm the producer/editor. My partner in production is Magenta. Chemy is our photographer. Wonder is my co-editor. Skatingfan is our sound whiz. Blizzard is our art director. Kooky and annabelle are on our contributing writing team. Littlepebbles is our director.

Welcome to stay and watch our creative process. But please obey our confidentiality rule. We don't want our brilliant ideas being pirated.

One More Criteria.....
for anyone who wants to read here:

YOU NEED A SENSE OF HUMOR!

Not that PK fans aren't welcome, they are as long as they don't show up trolling, send threatening e-mails, or go running back to the PK forum bashing us and Michelle. The Anaheim Mighty Ducks have been eliminated from the 1999-2000 NHL playoff race. (Anyone interested in a long and windy explanation of how and why be welcome to read it in the Hockey thread--any rants, obituaries, etc can go there too.) Bad news to the team, but good for PK and our angel. Here's hoping the May charity function senario becomes a reality.

yingshan--You haven't given your professional opinion on Michelle's new "Hands" dress yet. What do you think of it?

yingshan
April 7th, 2000, 09:40 PM
Okay, I can't really feel sad for the team since now the May charity scenerio may materialize. Hope #9 isn't too disheartening by the elimination. COI will be in Anaheim on 5/14 Sunday. Now let's hope someone is hosting a charity function and has the right mind of calling both #9 and 6.0. <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :) --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON STOP-->

I only saw the new Hand costume from pictures. It's better than her old Hand costume since the color is much better. But all the flowers make it a bit too "ice princess" like. It's not our Michelle anymore IMO. I'm more intrigued by her black unitard. I want to see how she looks in that.

skatingfan
April 8th, 2000, 06:23 AM
So when is that, and when will COI be in Anaheim.
Who is the organizer of the charity, if we find out
we can email him/her and ask for MK. Beefers
have a strong membership, I bet if we all email
them they will at least ask MK, I assume PK will
be there b/c it is a MD charity event.
YS, I am so jealous of you S. CA people who will have
a chance to see MK.

It's still "in the stars" right now. <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :) --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON STOP--> We don't know whether there will be a MD charity function or not. It's Michelle's astrology for year 2000 said that she may meet her love in a May charity function. It said he could be her co-chair of the function. The astrology correctly predicted that Michelle would have a new "title" between late March and April 4. So the prediction about a May charity function could turn out to be true too. Let's hope it's not some other guys.

COI will be in Anaheim on 5/14. It's a Sunday afternoon. There is no LA show this year. I haven't gotten the ticket yet. So don't envy me so soon.

Part I: I have the beefers, I don't need you

The MD was brainstorming, after he got off
the phone. He tried everything he knew to persuade 6.0 to quit COI,
and come home to CA, so that they could spend quality time together.
A bright idea came up. 6.0 mentioned that she wanted to
take placement tests. She said,
it would be hard to find college level
tutors, who are willing to travel with her, maybe Mr. Collins can help.
He dialed Mr. Collins # .....................

6.0 received a message from Mr. Collins, that he found the perfect tutor for her.
"Be ready bright and early tomorrow, i.e. 8 am." said Mr. C.
6.0 got up early, put on her baseball cap ( she calls that her
thinking cap) and was eagerly waiting for her teacher.
Sharp at 8am, there was a gentle knock at the door, Mk opened the
door, and found her love standing there with a huge smile.
6.0 was so surprised that she was speechless.
#9, "No hugs, no kisses, not even a 'I am in paradise?'"
6.0," You caught me by surprise, I am expecting........."
#9, " Yes, expecting your teacher, and where are the apples."
6.0, "You are.........."
#9, "Yes, and well qualified, I grad from college with honors,.
dont you know?"
6.0," And that was a century ago? I bet you have forgotten
everything, BTW, what are you teaching today."
#9, "You name it, how about business."
6.0 thought for a second, "Nope, why would I need you to
help with learning business, I have Yingshan."
#9 thought silently, Oh those Beefers, " How about creative writing."
6.0 smiled, " Nope, I don't need you for that, I have Mano, LittlePebbles,
LittlePang, AChan, Magenta, Blueshirt, Chemy, Sharon , Blizzard............ (Beefers, fill in your names)."
#9, " How about history."
6.0 smiled again, " Nope, I have Marcella."
#9, " I am good at math."
6.0, " Well, Eilaram, and Skatingfan got that covered."
#9 smiled triumphantly, "None of your Beefers can teach you
how to do a hockey check."
Fast as lightning, he approached 6.0, within 2 microseconds,
6.0' was lifted off the floor.
====================

Part II: She knows how to hurt and heal
==========
Being a world class athlete, 6.0 reacted to the hockey check with
swiftness, and in less than one microsecond, the MD was on the
floor and bumped his forehead in the process. 6.0 landed gracefully
on her R. foot, like the exit to her gorgeous triple lutz.
She leaned down, and gently kissed his forehead, " There, it
shouldn't hurt any more."
#9, " It hurts a little less, but I need more healing..........."

It was a very lengthy healing process.................

A disappointing season for the Mighty Ducks organization had come to a close. It was back to the drawing board for the coaches and upper management. The season began with high hopes and a motto to take the next step. Problem is, the players couldn’t decide whether to step forward or step back. Unfortunately, it was the latter and it resulted in a dismal 34-36-3 record. Veteran defenseman Olausson has decided to retire and will be missed dearly. Other players have gone home to rest their aches and pains and prepare for the next season. One hopes it is to learn from the past and be fired up, motivated, and hungry enough come October. That, and more importantly, to keep that intensity for all 82 games and beyond. A few players, however, decided to try their luck out in the links. Maybe, just maybe pretending to be Tiger Woods, even for just a day will help them forget the “should have, could have, and would have been in the playoffs now if” excuses making rounds in their heads. Forget the past, the golf course beckons.

“Ah, Baseball, America’s favorite pastime!” Matt Cullen, a center coming into his own for the Mighty Ducks, declared loudly.
“Baseball? So what are we doing in the golf course?” Defenseman Oleg Tverdovsky asked.
“Well, we had a prior commitment with the guys, so here we are.” Jeff Neilsen cut in.

Teemu Selanne, and Paul Kariya waited patiently for their tardy teammates to reach them. It was a beautiful, sunny day in Anaheim, perfect weather for a round of 18 and they pretty much had the golf course to themselves. Not surprising since practically every backyard in Southern California sported the vast manicured lawns of a golf course. Finding a course that would give them enough privacy, especially from the media, wasn’t too hard to do.

“Well it’s about time. What took you so long, we were about to start without you?” Teemu asked.
“Matt was too busy talking about Baseball to Oleg.” Jeff replied.
“Well, I am going to share my vast knowledge of the game to Oleg before we go to the Anaheim game. Want him to make sure he is familiar with the lingo.” Matt said.
“It’s probably going to be boring, it’s nine hours long.” Oleg said.
“Nine innings.” Matt corrected. “It’s not that long, believe me. It’s like playing chess, it’s a very mental game, you’ll like it.”

While they were still conversing, Teemu made his first shot down the fairway. As Paul Kariya was about to take his turn, the conversation abruptly changed gears. His teammates started talking about figure skating of all things. He knew Michelle’s name was going to come up, but he just smiled. He hasn’t seen her new program yet and his tape of the Champions on Ice was just collecting dust at home. He still couldn’t make up his mind if he wanted to see it live first or watch the taped version. He’ll figure it out later. Now he had to concentrate on the game at hand. He made a few practice swings, then positioned himself to hit the golf ball from the tee. He started his back swing when he heard the very single Jeff Nielsen say…

“Hey did you see the ice skating last week on TNT? Michelle Kwan looked really hot!” He was about to add a little more detail when he heard Paul suddenly utter a curse as he saw his shot go towards the right, straight into the woods.
Without missing a beat, Matt said, “see that shot, Oleg, that in baseball is what you call a foul ball into the right field stands.”
“Oh, I see.” Oleg responded.
“Hey Paul, now they can put you in that commercial ‘I’m in the woods.” Teemu jokingly added.
“Ha, very funny. Is it possible to keep the chatting to a bare minimum.”
“Yes, captain!!!” Everybody replied with a salute...and fingers crossed behind their backs. Satisfied with their response, Paul stood back and watched as Matt took his turn to tee off, followed by Jeff, then Oleg. Their shots all made it safely on the fairway.

Later on as he was about to putt an easy 5 footer, the conversation picked up again. “So Paul, did Michelle tell you about her new program yet? I know you haven’t seen her since she left for Worlds, but I’m sure she must have mentioned it beforehand.” Teemu asked out of the blue. Paul looked up, a little annoyance showing on his face, but since it was his best pal, he decided to oblige. “I just know that she’s skating to a James Bond movie, I think the title was ‘The World is Not Enough'. She’s a Bond girl in a black catsuit with long sleeves. Just how I like it, nice and covered.” Paul then put his focus back on the golf ball and was about to make his shot.

“Sleeves?!? I only remember one sleeve. Maybe, one of the guys like Plushenko or that Cartman guy, who turned into Mrs. Doubtfire, in her tour accidentally ripped off the other sleeve.” As Jeff said this, Paul uttered another curse as he saw the golf ball roll past the hole and directly into the sand trap.
Without missing a beat, Matt added, “Oleg, that golf ball traveled about 90 feet which is equivalent to the distance between the bases in a baseball field.”
“Oh, I see,” Oleg said.
“Tsk, tsk, Paul, you have to control that mouth of yours. Might have to wash it out with soap.” Teemu said smiling slyly. Paul just shook his head, was about to say something, but decided against it. So much for a peaceful day at the golf course.

Paul had to make a difficult shot to get onto the green. He was slowly getting frustrated as the game wore on because the guys didn’t seem to want to stop talking about figure skating and it always ended up with Michelle. He had no problem discussing her, loved to talk about her skating with others and her wonderful personality, but he wanted to do the talking. It just didn’t feel right having other single guys seeming to admire a lot about her, especially about her physical attributes. He was about to take his shot again when he heard Jeff say…

“you know Michelle is all grown up now, and I’m pretty sure all the guys in her tour noticed, especially that Elvis guy.”

“@#$%!!!” A disgruntled Paul Kariya uttered again, not even caring to look where his shot ended up this time. He didn’t have to, because without missing a beat Matt said, “Oleg, that is what you call a line drive double into the gap, the gap being those two trees over there to the left.”
“Oh, I see.” Oleg said.
“Hey Paul, you’re in the woods again.” Teemu happily supplied.
“Shut up.”

9th Hole
Paul was about to tee off again. He wasn’t gaining any ground on the other guys even with the back 9 still coming up. His concentration was totally shot and all he wanted to do now is try to keep it respectable. He trusts Michelle with his whole heart, but having his friends talk about competition with other guys Michelle is touring with isn’t helping at all. Before attempting any semblance of a shot, he decided for the umpteenth time to change the conversation. “Don’t you guys have something else to talk about like Elian or the stock market or something?” Jeff, Matt, and Oleg looked at each other and said in unison, “No.” Paul turned to Teemu for help, but he was busy whistling 'Send in the Clowns' while selecting a club to use. Paul sighed and gave up his effort. Again, he positioned himself to make his shot, eyes focused on the golf ball, when suddenly Jeff said…

“The only thing about Michelle’s TWINE costume is that we don’t get to see any cleavage.”

“@#$%!!!” Paul said disgustedly and looked up, as did his other teammates except for Matt who, like clockwork, said, “Now Oleg, that is what you call a pop-up in the shallow infield, or it could even be a pop-up foul ball.” He was about to continue when he heard what sounded like a quack followed by a chorus of…
“Look out!” Paul said.
“Heads up!” Teemu said.
“DUCK!!!” Jeff shouted.
THUD!!! A Duck that fell from the sky after being hit by Paul’s pop-up foul ball struck Matt Cullen on the head.
“Is the Duck alright?” Paul asked.
“Which one?” Teemu asked jokingly. The fowl in question shook its feathers, hopped down from Matt’s head, quacked and waddled away to the closest body of water. The other Duck groaned, shook his head and asked dazedly, “what happened?”
“Oleg, that was Matt using his head to catch a fowl ball.” Jeff said then laughed himself silly.
“Oh, I see. ” Oleg said with a smile as he helped his teammate up from the ground.

This was one of the more difficult holes in the course. There was a big water hazard that the players had to contend with. At this point, however, Paul was just going through the motions not even bothering to survey the course. Teemu came by and said, “don’t worry Paul, at least in this round there’s no way for you to end up in the woods at all.”
“Thanks, Teemu, much appreciated.” Paul said sarcastically.
“Anytime.” Teemu said with big smile. Paul set up to make his shot, prayed for divine interference when he again heard Jeff say…

“Hey, isn’t that guy Yagudin going to be joining the tour too? I read that he tried to flirt with Michelle during Worlds Exhibition.”

Paul smiled this time around because he stopped his swing just as Jeff was going to add his usual bad news. “Ha, you guys thought you’re going to distract me. Think again.” He was about to make his shot again, but couldn’t stop his swing this time when Jeff said…

“Or was that Tim Goebel who was flirting with her.”

Paul’s club flew out of his hands on the follow through and it went straight into the water hazard. He looked at his empty hands and looked down at the golf ball that was still resting comfortably on the tee. Without fail, Matt said, “Oleg, Paul not only collected a strike, he also lost his bat to the fans.” Teemu was smugly observing the situation when he noticed Paul’s smile. “Aren’t you upset you lost one of your clubs?” He asked.
“Not at all,” Paul replied calmly.
“Why not.” Teemu asked again.
“Because that was your club.”

18th hole
Paul finally made his last shot. He ended up with a triple bogey on 18 and it was all because Jeff Neilsen suddenly decided to cast a vote among the other single guys in the group about which costume of Michelle’s they liked the best. It was a toss up between the Red Violin, Hands, or The World is Not Enough costume. He didn’t remember the details anymore because he just basically saw red when he heard cleavage during the spiral and slash just above her derriere in her black catsuit. He’s seriously thinking about purchasing that nun’s habit he saw the other day. That would make for a nice costume for Michelle, he thought. He and the others gathered up their golf bags and headed for the clubhouse. He was about to ditch his scorecard when Teemu took it from him.
“Aren’t you even going to share your score? We all gave ours.” Teemu said before suddenly laughing out loud upon seeing Paul’s score. “Paul, I don’t think the word respectable covers that high a score.”
“Again, Teemu, I really appreciated your support today,” Paul said with a heavy sigh.
“Anything for the captain.” Teemu replied.

Matt looked over Teemu’s shoulder and saw Paul’s score. He immediately grabbed the scorecard and ran over to his baseball pupil. “Oleg, this is what you would call a great batting average. In fact, Paul’s score actually leads both the American League and National League in batting average and if the season ended now, he’d win the batting title.”
“Oh, I see.” Oleg said, stifling a yawn.

Paul just shook his head and was about to walk away to someplace peaceful and call up Michelle. He needed to hear her voice just to convince himself he wasn’t going crazy. Before he took a step he heard Jeff, who was standing near a fountain, say…

“Hey, look guys, there’s Tiger Woods!!! Didn’t Michelle say he was cute and wanted her picture to be placed next to him at the All Star café in New Yo…” SPLASH!!!

A gasping and coughing Jeff Neilsen tried to get himself out of the fountain he suddenly found himself in. All he saw when he looked up was the retreating back of Paul Kariya. “What did I say?” He asked innocently amid the laughter of his fellow teammates.
“Looks like Paul not only has a great batting average, but a great slugging percentage as well.” Oleg remarked.
“Hey, that’s insightful of you, Oleg, how’d you know?” Matt asked.
“I’m a fast learner.” Oleg said
“Oh, I see.” Matt laughingly replied.
***
Tiger Woods saw Paul Kariya heading towards him. “Congratulations on your great year so far, Tiger. Michelle and I were rooting for you to win the Masters also.” Paul said.
“Thanks, don’t worry, there’s always next year. Besides, Vijay had a great game and deserved the green jacket this year.” He paused before adding, “I guess you can say that Michelle and I have that curse in common sometimes, the media crowns us before the tournament, or in her case, competition, begins. It’s a lot of pressure to put on somebody.”
“Actually, she wasn’t the favorite going into Worlds at Nice. The media was pretty harsh to her especially after Nationals. They wanted a new face and pretty much said she got a gift from the judges that night. They all said she was done at 19.” Paul said with a hint of bitterness in his voice.
“I’m glad she was able to prove them all wrong.” Tiger said
Paul smiled at the memory of her joyous face at the end of her long program and said, “yes, I’m glad she did.”
“Where are you off to now?” Tiger asked
“Somewhere peaceful, I’m going to give Michelle a call and don’t need Teemu or the rest disrupting what’s left of my afternoon.” Paul replied.
“Say hello to her for me.” Tiger said.
“I will.” Paul said.
“By the way, what if Teemu asks about you?”
Without missing a beat, Paul said, “Just tell him, I’m in the woods.”
With a laugh, the two athletes shook hands and went their separate ways.
~The End~

Thanks Mano for the dedication. So how did 008 look in
the golf course.
Chemy, I did not forget your chemistry expertise or Mano's biology expertise, but from what I remember, PK was not a science major, and hesitated to put that in.

An entire episode with no cliffhanger! Wow! Extra crispy, you did good! Does that mean I have to pay you now? :) How about flying #9 to the COI show? A surprise for 6.0? He can be a tag-along, taking care of 6.0 on tour.

we actually get paid? Wow, what a concept!!! :D :D :D

Thanks guys, I was feeling sooo guilty that I haven't written anything lately then Sunday night I couldn't sleep and inspiration struck. The whole story took form in my head and I had wanted to call in sick to write the story on Monday, but couldn't convince my supervisor. So at work, while people weren't looking I typed up a few paragraphs of the story then emailed it home. Started working on it around 11:00 PM EST Monday night and wasn't fully satisfied with it until about 3:30 AM, or was it 4:00 AM Tuesday morning, I couldn't recall. Then it took me a while to post the whole story 'cause my server kept disconnecting. So littlepebbles, yup, I probably just went off-line as soon as I posted the last part. My Icq wasn't working so I didn't even bother to log on. Don't tell me you stayed up that night also? BTW folks, I did go to work on Tuesday morning on about 3 hours sleep. (I worked late shift). The things I do for the cause...;)

I was inspired by Mano's story so I tried one of my own. Enjoy!

Who is that masked man?

Michelle Kwan walked into the ballroom at the hotel in Washington, D.C adorned in a magnificent ball gown and wearing a mask. She had just arrived at a masquerade ball/reception for the cast of COI along with Brian Boitano and Irina Slutskaya. Wow! The room was beautifully decorated and the skaters deserved a break after 3 long days of rehearsals.

After dinner, a gentleman dressed as Zorro approached Michelle and didn’t say a word. He just bowed slightly and with a flourish presented his arm as an invitation to dance. Michelle glanced at Brian as if to say, “ Who is this?” He just shrugged with a slight grin. The kind of look that said something was up and Brian was not going to tell. However, Michelle enjoyed dancing so she accepted the invitation. The dance was a waltz and the mysterious gentleman swept her away! Still without a word. After the waltz, the orchestra played a rumba and a samba. Then, the beat softened and a soft piece from Bach’s Brandenberg Concertos filled the room. He looked questioningly at Michelle as though asking her to stay. Michelle nodded and they once again began to move gracefully across the floor.

After a minute or so into the slow dance, Michelle worked up the courage to speak. She had been having a magnificent time and had forgotten that there was anyone else in the room. Those dark eyes! She wanted to know more. She knew that there was tight security into the function so she was not worried, just very curious.
“Who are you?”, she asked.
“Michelle, I am a man of many talents who has been dancing with the most beautiful partner here this evening.”, he responded. “For now, just call me MD.”
“OK, MD. Nice line – for now I will give you the benefit of the doubt. Tell me about yourself. Where are you from? Are you in business? an athlete?”
“I am many miles from home and I am an athlete and in business.”
“You are not giving me any helpful clues!”, Michelle exclaimed. She then asked,
“What would you like to talk about?”
“Lets talk about you.”, he responded. “Did you enjoy dinner?”
“Yes I did, very much. I enjoy sushi and rice so I indulged in those dishes. What about yourself?”
“I enjoy seafood and Italian food so tonight’s menu was great. I acquired the tasted for fresh seafood while spending some time in Maine.”

The conversation continued for the next half hour, but he never revealed who he was. Michelle still had no idea! All she knew is that she was completely taken in! He was intelligent and spoke on a variety of topics all of which were of interest to her. Tennis, golf, and swimming. They talked about the books they had read and movies they had seen. Although, she was not nearly as versed in Star Wars as he was.

After the last piece of music was played by the orchestra, the mystery man escorted Michelle back to her table and kissed her hand with a loving gesture of respect and quietly left the room with a soft, “Thank you for the pleasure of your company Michelle. Good night.” The only thing Michelle knew was she had to find out who he was! On the way from the ballroom she interrogated, threatened and tried to bribe Brian without any luck. Actually, all Brian had been told by Tom Collins was that if a gentleman in a Zorro costume asked to dance with Michelle, that Michelle was in safe hands.

During the rest of tour, Michelle continued to try and find out who this guy was. She ran through a mental list of men who might have fit that description, but they were either too tall or too short. The man she had danced with was about 5’10”. And none of them had his eyes! Michelle was constantly on the lookout for him.

Finally, Brian couldn’t take it any longer and spoke with Tom. Tom indicated that he would take care of it. On the night after the tour stop, the cast celebrated together by taking in a show, Phantom of the Opera. Michelle had the seat at the end of their group. Just as the show was about to start, a gentleman came and sat by her. Michelle looked twice, and then three times. Her jaw was about to hit the floor. Irina whispered to her, “You would look less obvious if he couldn’t see your tonsils.” You! I believe that we have met before, Paul, but I did not know that it was you!”

He smiled, “Yes. My name is Paul. Paul Kariya. We meet again.”
Michelle grinned, ”I can’t believe that my mysterious guest was my favorite Mighty Duck.”
Michelle mouthed thank you to Tom Collins. He nodded.

The next week as Michelle was once again immersed in a book for one of her summer classes she thought with a smile, I guess fiction really can come true!

You guys are so awesome! Thanks! I did try to make this a pure mystery story, but I couldn't do it! The romantic in me just had to be thrown in there somewhere.

I have never really been a fan of classical/instrumental music until I became a serious figure skating fan around '92. After that I started to pay more attention. I heard Bach's Brandenberg Concertos at a friends house and LOVED it! That is one of the reasons that I chose it here. I don't know any of the specific pieces, but an open to suggestions if you have a favorite.

Bearpaw, I don't have a fav B. Concerto either, i love
all six (6.0)of them. I think you have a great sense of rthymn etc, though not too many people dance to the B. concerto I think the pieces are very danceable, for that matter, I think Baroque music is very danceable.

Folks, it you go to MK chat and look up Galad's thread about
a cute MK - Slute pic, go to the link. Afviewing MK-Slute pic go to that guys homepage and there is a Hershey's Kisses pic from the recent competition. Lovely pic with Kristi, Mk etc. See how 3X4 has both his arms wrapped around 6.0's waist, and the side of his R. cheek and forehead are touching hers.

I need to stop and take a deep breath, this is no fan fiction, reality strikes, she is all grown up. I miss the Little Kwan. Also another horror idea, if he switch coach to Frank, and I speculate taht he is a high maintence studentthat means Frank will have to divert attentiion from
MK to him. MK looks happy in that pic though.

Addendum, you can get that pic with a direct link provided by Colesia under the thread" Another cute pic"

BTW, MK's L. hand is on 3X4's shoulder, and her R. hand is on Kristi's shoulder, and the sides of their cheeks and forehead are not touching.

English Translation of the Lyrics:
Just Friends written by :D avid Tao

Waiting, I'm waiting to be the love you can rely.
I have no doubt that this is love.
I'm guessing, That you've always wanted to clarify.
This sudden feeling of lost is like falling from heaven to an abyss, so helpless.
I'm willing to change (what can I do?)
Let's try this again(Just give me a chance)
I can't just be a friend, my love has sunk so deep that I can't just let go.
But u're saying "I only want to be your friend" . Be a friend.
I'm guessing in your heart that I'm just a friend. Not a lover.
I'm grateful for your honesty, but for now I can't just take back that love that I've given to you.
So I, I can't just be your friend. No no no, I can't just be your friend.

Roomie 'Dave's a good singer eh??' and looks upon michelle waiting for an answer. But she only sees this troubled face.
#6 'I gotta leave early tonite, I've got some papers to do. I'll see you later '
Roomie(that's totally clueless of what just happened) 'ok, babe. See u later.'

Just as michelle was leaving, David catches up with her.
David 'I need to talk to you..Let me walk you back'
#6 can't really think of a reason to refuse the offer, says 'ok, sure'
During the walk back, none of them have spoken a word. They both just didn't know what to say. Especially Michelle, she was so shocked and confused, she's still trying to figure out what's going on. Finally David spoke ' Michelle, I'm sorry¡K'
#6 that knows that it must have been hard for David to tell her about his feelings, feels sorry for him.
David 'I know the consequence of just ruining our whole friendship, and trust me I treasure that so much¡K I just..'

Rrrrriiing¡K. RrrrRRing.
Michelle's cell phone was ringing. They both instinctly just knew that it was Paul. Michelle looks over to David.
David 'Don't answer it¡K¡K.please..'
#6 ' I can't.. I have to'
David 'Just give me some time¡K please michelle¡K'

Michelle's head was spinning, she didn't know what to do. Just as she was about to take the call. The ringing stopped, she missed it.

David 'Thank you for doing that , I really appreciate it'
#6 feels guilty for missing the call, says ' you're welcome, but I don't think that this is the appropiate time for me to talk to you either..I have to go..' She turns away and runs off back to her room.

After a shower, Michelle just felt worse and worse, she decides to phone Paul.

'Hmmm¡K. No answer¡K.Oh well, I think I just have to surprise her¡K.' And he smiles thinking how happy Michelle would be with his surprise visit. After a while he arrives to the dorm parking lot. His phone rings.

#6 ' Hello.'
#9 'Michelle!!!! Hey, I phoned you a while ago, but there was no answer¡K'
#6 started sobbing says 'I'm sorry Paul..'
#9 suddenly has this uneasy feeling 'What's wrong?? It's ok.. it's just a phone call..'
Michelle didn't want to lie so she tells the whole story of how David felt for her¡K
#9 furiously 'So you missed my call because you were talking to him¡K'
#6 'Noooo.. I.. I just didn't want to hurt his feelings¡K' Somehow that sounded more hurtful in #9 ears.
#9 '¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K'
#6 'Paul¡Kyou know that I love you, please understand.. Dave's a close friend, I really have to be careful in dealing this situation..'
#9 trying to hide his sadness, comforts her 'I know..why don't I come over rite now?'
#6 'No¡K it's ok, it's a long drive. And I'm going to bed soon.'
#9 (feeling bitter) 'okay then, I'll call you tmr. Goodnite.'
#6 'Goodnite'

And they both hang up. Paul leans on the steering wheel and stares upon #6's window, her light is still on and he could see the roses that he bought for her. (Michelle puts them in a vase on a desk near the window.) He hated himself for acting so jealous and he should have been more understanding, but this time he really felt insecure. Dave was a close friend and a great guy, Michelle couldn't hurt his feelings and also Dave is a college student that shares the same classes with her. The more Paul thought about it, the worse he felt.

Michelle was also looking at the roses that Paul sent her. She just realized that in the phone call, all she talked about was Dave, she totally ignored Paul's feelings. And some things that she said must have hurt him so much. Michelle was supposed to be trying to think about how she should treat Dave, but all that is on her mind was PAUL. And how she regretted that she asked Paul not to come.

#6 started copying the notes from Dave.. then

Knock ..Knock..
She glares at Dave's notes¡K..

Knock Knock Knock

Welcome to the realm of storytelling on BFFF. You did good and took up Yingshan's challenge to use this David guy. Poor Paul, he's got tons of competition now. Serves him right, the slowpoke that he is. Japanese Lightning my behind!!!

BTW, You added "PART II" twice so you may want to delete the second part so that people won't be seeing double. By tomorrow, a bunch of us will be bugging you for PART III. Can't wait!!!

sorry about the double posts guys..but I dunno how to delete it.. I can't find that 'edit' button thing...
skatingfan-i haven't been to TST yet..but i'll tell u asap after i check the place out

Here goes..

Knock Knock Knock....
Michelle goes to the door and opens it, then somebody just jumps on her and grabs her tightly at the speed of lightning. She wanted to push him off as she feared that it was Dave, but she soon recognizes those shoulders...the arms..and whispers ' Paul.......' she couldn't do anything but melt in his arms.

#9 (who held #6 ever so tightly) ' I'm never letting go u know, even if u fight me off, I'm never gonna let u go.....'
#6 got teary eyed and starts babbling '... i'm so sorry..in the phone call.. i didn't mean to......I'm sorry for ignoring your feelings... i'm sorry...'
#9 hushes her like a baby ' shhhhh...shhh...now ..now..it alright.. .. '
#6 sudden realizes something ' hey.. how did u get here.. am i ..dreaming?'
#9 tells her how he wanted to give her a suprise and told her how he was looking upon her window all night, says 'That was the longest hour of my life...I know I was acting all jealous and insecure.. but I couldn't help it..looking upon u're window..and knowing that u're there and that we're just minutes apart from eachother, I've never felt so lonely..I just realize that I love you because I need you..' holding her even tighter than before 'I need you Michelle...I need you......'
#6 was so touched by #9 words, she thinks to herself what can be better than Paul loving her is that he needs her and can't live without her, she smiles and brushes her hand through his spiky hair..she tip-toes..and kisses him..

Thump..someone opens the door and it was #6's roomate
roomie teasing ' Ohhhh.. gee... GET A ROOM..'
#9 'umm.....we are in a room....'
And they all laugh together.....

The next day michelle gave Dave's notes to her roomie and asks her to return it to him. Sometimes actions just speak louder than words, and this is probably the best thing to do for both of them.

--The End--

So I will continue my story.

Tournament Time
Finally, Paul's hockey team was ready for the tournament. They had been playing very well. In fact, they won all of the first few games they played. Then they won more, until finally it was just two teams left. Them and another team who was going to be very hard to beat.

In the locker room, Paul gave the team a pep talk. Then they went out on the ice to warm up. Michelle and her 3 friends watched the other team with dread.

"Whoa," Matt muttered. "They look like they could murder their own mothers."

Stu agreed. "They certainly don't look as if they have inner peace."

Teemu added, "They look like a bunch of Huns."

Michelle was just plain scared. She decided to just concentrate on her skating and stick handling. She did that until Paul called his players over to the bench. "Okay," he said. "Just remember what you have learned the past few weeks and do your best." Then the game was about to begin.

One of the players went to center ice to face off with one of the "Huns" and the game was on. Everything was going pretty well and the Huns were leading by only one goal. Then one of Michelle's teammates scored a goal. A few minutes later, near the end of the first period, Michelle scored a goal and her team took the lead. Her team was thrilled, but the Huns were very mad. So mad that when play resumed, one of them hit Michelle in her stomach with his stick and knocked her to the ice. Her head slammed into the ice and the force of it knocked her unconscious. It was the end of the first period, so some referees and officials came and took Michelle off to the infirmary.

A few minutes later...

Paul, Teemu, Matt, Stu, and the rest of the team stood outside of the infirmary waiting to see if their teammate Mike would be okay. Soon, a nurse stepped out of the infirmary. Everyone immediately asked her a million questions. "Will Mike be okay?" "Can anyone go in to see him?" The nurse gave them all strange looks, but she said it was okay to go inside. Paul stepped inside the infirmary to see Mike. Less than a minute later he came out looking as if he had seen a ghost. A young woman with almost shoulder length hair, a bandage on her forehead, and black smudges on her face chased him out.

First to littlepang for ending the story in such a romantic fashion. LOVED the roommates comment to get a room, LOL!!! Now I wish Paul was really as lightning fast as your story indicates...when it comes to love, that is. Littlepang, to edit you have to be logged into the forum. Go to "My Control Center" on the upper left hand side of the page and click on it. Then you'll be asked to input your password again. After that you should be fine.

Next to the other "little" BFFFer, Littlepebbles!!! I LOVED it and I'm glad they've met and I can't wait to see how you tackle "THE confrontation"!!! Loved Michelle with her flowing black hair flowing behind her as she chased Paul down!!! You think Paul should be the one chasing Michelle!!!

CHEMY!!! Finally, you have edited the picture to perfection!!! Yes, that's how that pic should really be. Thanks for easing our troubled BFFF minds!!!

Now that it's been established that Tim Goebel and Michelle Kwan have a great sense of humor, is there any possible way we can find out if Paul Kariya and the Mighty Ducks have a great sense of humor as well? Last I checked, I gave Paul a great batting average...okay so it was his golf score which was about 490 over par, but who hasn't had one of those days. That, plus I called the famed Japanese Lightning a slowpoke and clueless on good days. Don't even get me started on the other Ducks.

Now that I think about it, do you guys think he or any of the Ducks actually knows about this stuff? We know Michelle reads MKF, but I don't think she'd suddenly tell Paul if she ever sees him "Oh, BTW, my fans think you and I look great together, so why don't we get married and make tons of beautiful and extremely talented but nevertheless humble babies together."

a poster by the name of Wing7780 said so in the "Cute Picture...hmmmnn" thread that went up to 109 posts at MKFan chat. It was right after I stuck my head in the sand fiasco.

Anywho, I do hope that Paul or somebody close to him reads this 'cause somebody posted his license plate and home address on one of the Yahoo Kariya clubs which is beyond STUPID, no offense (but man is that STUPID). Like hello, give the guy some privacy please. The regulars there say that there is no edit feature, but I'm sure the moderator should be able to do something. And no I didn't copy it down so I can send him the People Magazine directly. I just saw it then my jaw dropped cause I couldn't believe somebody would actually post it, then backed out of the site right away. I don't know if it's Paul's real address, but either or, it shouldn't have been posted. I mean, post the Mighty Ducks address and send stuff to him through there, but don't post his home address. I don't know if the poster was playing a joke either, but it's still in bad taste if it was.

BTW, as a full fledge NYer, my memory automatically blanks out info like that to protect the privacy or the rich and famous.

Worse comes to worse, maybe we can tell Paul to move closer to UCLA if he decides to move for security reasons. (I'm kidding)

I just emailed Ayaz to delete or edit MsKariya's post. Hopefully that will do the trick. Problem is, she posted that on 04/24/00 so I have no idea how many lurkers became privy to that info. I'm sorry, but can I say that it was a supremely STUPID thing to do for a fan. You just don't do that stuff unless Paul decides to tell the world where he lives. GRUMBLE, GRUMBLE, GRUMBLE!!!

Quoting Ka**u from rssif.

Mano or Eilaram, go ahead and make that tape. But you have to do it like Magenta, in the form of an encouragement / fan letter. So a brief fluff piece about how she overcame the doubts, the naysayers
negativism and triumph. Hey nothing to lose, even if he thinks beefers are nuts.

BTW, Kristi is getting married soon, do you think MK and PK will be invited? To think about it MK and Kristi skate in different tours, probably not. Are Bret and Paul close?

yingshan
April 25th, 2000, 06:50 PM
Darn, Mano, you didn't jog down the address? :) You think Wing7780 was Michelle herself? I guess she had to use Wing since I took her Chinese name (in Madarin) :lol .

skatingfan, I doubt Paul and Bret are good friends since they seldom crossed paths. Plus, Bret is much older than Paul, isn't he? When is Kristi's wedding?

What a treat to come back to this Forum after a prolonged absence (not voluntary, I assure you) to find <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> five<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> new stories. You guys are awesome. :D

littlepang--The last part of your story reminds me of the scene in <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Wuthering Heights<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> before Catherine dies: "An instant they held asunder, and then how they met I hardly saw, but Catherine made a spring, and he caught her, and they were locked in an embrace from which I thought my mistress would never be released alive..." Sniff, sniff.

chemy--The link I posted has already been updated; the correct one is archived here: www.livingbeyondreality.com/4-6-00HockeySnacks.html (http://www.livingbeyondreality.com/4-6-00HockeySnacks.html). Again, you'll have to scroll down near the bottom. Sorry for the delay!

thanks...that was one of those threads I gave up on when it took so long to load...BTW I've wondered for awhile but I keep on forgetting to ask, do you pronounce your name as in "man o" or "ma no"?...I hope for Paul's sake that the information was wrong...

skatingfan

Kristi's wedding will be in 7/00 in Hawaii, seems like she will keep it very private. Most likely Mk wont be there, who knows maybe she will invite that 18 y/o (she will be 18 by then) fellow SOI cast member.
Maybe PK won't be able to go b/c he wants to spend qualifty time with Mk, and send his younger brother instead.

Ooops, my fan fiction mind is working on overdrive.

Back to serious business, I think Mk was selected for being one of 50 most beautiful before worlds, I mean worlds was 4/1/00, there is no way that Peoples mag can choose MK, get her in for a photo shoot, etc, get the think in printing etc etc. But then on the other hand Hiliary S obviously was chosen b/c of her oscar, and she received that honor a week prior to MK's worlds.

So YS what is your assessment of Mk's endorsement potential now.

I actually have no preference.

Here's a boring discourse on my name:

Since mano is short for my real name Manonucleosis, my friends pronounce it like "mono". :D :D :D I'm kidding, my real name is Manolita and some people pronounce the "Mano" like they would the Spanish word for hand. My name in Spanish literally means little hand, so if ever you need help, you know who to ask 'cause I could always give you a little hand, AHA, corny!!! My name also stems from Manuelita, which comes from Emmanuel which means "God with us." I don't usually live up to that name so just being "mano" like the disease is fine. ;) ;) ;)

Anywho, whichever you prefer, whether "ma no" or "man o" is fine with me. I actually have a friend who doesn't even bother with the "o" and just calls me "man".

As for #9's address, oy, apparently it's available in a mailing list too and I have no idea where that is. Weird Wild stuff. AND no Yingshan, I didn't jot it down...tempted, but I immediately got struck by lightning (of conviction). Go figure.

Can I just add my gush and say Michelle was soooooo gorgeous last night. I mean is she gorgeous or is she gorgeous. I want to be that gorgeous. Okay, so why in tarnation is PK like not noticing Michelle. The TG thing is giving me a major complex so I need an infusion of MK/PK news ASAP! May can't come soon enough.

Yingshan, maybe we can add duck to the sacrifice list. I can't wait to see how Michelle looks in the People Magazine. You know, we should write to People to add Paul Kariya in their list for future considerations. Why they chose that Erickson guy from Baltimore Orioles is beyond me.

skatingfan, I think being selected as one of the 50 most beautiful people definitely increases Michelle's marketability. It gives her another cache. Her agent should raise her endorsement rate. :) BTW, I saw the Michelle picture they're going to use on Access Hollywood. It's the one she's wearing a black top and black capri pants. They didn't mention her name, just said 19 as the youngest. I didn't get a good look of the picture. She's gorgeous.

Mano, hmm...adding duck to the sacrifice list? I don't know whether 6.0 will appreciate that. :) Are you going to do the honor, sending the picture to #9?
