I saw that on FSW also. Now I can't imagine PK getting married and it getting past Mano, Yingshan and Annabelle. If this is true, it must have happened very recently. (Like last night) Maybe the poster on the "other side" got PK confused with someone else. If the poster didn't, then we can get Magenta (where ever she is) to send a subliminal message tape to PK. It can play "Lyra Angelica" and the background message can be "divorce...divorce...divorce...".

wow! i haven't been here for a while! i ate at this small japanese restaurant last night and i saw PK's poster on the wall...i guess he ate there once cuz his signature was on the poster with something about the restaurant. anyways, i thought about the forum right away. i had finals last week, and i have driving classes this week...boring!! anyways, i don't think that PK is married, it would've been in the OC register or something and i would have seen it.

Hi Everyone, Here's my two cents: I agree with akemi_chan, if PK was married we would have read about it in our OC Register. Unless this happened within the last few days - and then as stated, we would have heard/read about it. Here's my take on this. BernieToeLoop, if you read this from a poster on "the other side" then maybe it's somebody who is just trying to mess with all of our FanFiction heads. Consider the source and just keep coming up with all these wonderful story lines and photos that all you talented people have been so kind to share with the rest of us.

I agree with the general sentiment here. If PK had gotten married, fans would most definitely have heard about it. If for some freak of accident reason it was true, then could we speculate that PK pulled a "Dennis Rodman"? ROTFLMAO, Chemy! Can we say this is what happpened after PK begged for Michelle's forgiveness? Or how about after he met a fan fictioner, hee hee! Oh, and congrats on the new car, Yingshan! That much, but then again, I'm a Knick fan and if you know Knick/Bulls history, you know why. Annabelle, we don't expect PK to be single forever, we'd rather he be married forever to MK, but that's our big time wishful thinking. The NHL awards is going give us a glimpse of PK in another atmosphere, the OSCARS of the NHL, if you will. And that means PK will be expected to bring a date of some sort. Who that will be, will be the deciding factor if the bubble bursts for us. I know, it's one night, but sigh, what I would do to wish that were MK with him.

Unfortunately, I will be missing most of the NHL Awards because I have to work from an hour from now until after 9:00. So I'll be setting my VCR to see if PK comes with MK, or with Miss Tropicana model, or with Miss Teacher from Vancouver, or with Miss Petticoat, or with someone else who isn't MK. Buried in the towels? :-) I missed the first half of the NHL Award (My company had the nerve to ask me to go to work!). Did I miss anything? I saw PK presenting the goalie award with Teemu and his being named to the all-star team. They didn't show who's sitting beside him though. My guess is he went alone. They showed most other players' wives or girlfriends. Of course, if our girl were there, there's no way not showing her. Now anyone caught PK's arrival? Could someone confirm my guess? If he went alone, our bubble hasn't completely bursted yet. :-)

Ha, for big taping events you ask a week in advance to leave early or for a day off. I left early and was ready and waiting for the NHL Awards by 7:10 PM. Channel surfed while waiting for the Women's soccer game to end. That ended late (almost had a heart attack when the announcer said that the US soccer team was playing 8:30, until he mentioned that was on ESPN, sigh), around 8:05 or so, then had to wade through endless commercials, then finally the Awards which was already in progress. It hasn't really started 'cause they decided to do a comedic bit at the beginning featuring a hockey player on a golf course, etc. Anyway, better than last years award show, this one kept a good pace and wasn't as longwinded as the Oscars. The crowd was loud and the highlights included Wayne Gretzky receiving two Standing Ovations (long ones at that). Kristi Yamaguchi presented the Rookie of the Year award I think (forgot the name, my bad) and she looked good in a short black sequined dress showcasing her wonderful figure skating legs. The guy presenting with her asked her what else she brought home in 1992 Olys and she mentioned Bret Hedican and they showed him. How sweet is that. Nice cheer too. Anyway. Onto to the rest of the Awards. Couldn't recognize anybody without their uniform 'cept the stars such as Kariya, Selanne, Peca, Gretzky, Cujo, Hasek, Jagr. They are a very square crowd, no cross-dressing Dennis Rodman's in sight and that's a good thing. As for Paul Kariya, he presented with Teemu Selanne the Vezina Trophy which goes to the most outstanding Goalie of the year. A bit of a comedic irony 'cause these guys are prolific goal scorers and are supposed to hate Goalies (PK said that too) and yet there they are presenting it to Dominik 'the Dominator' Hasek. They showed him again as a member of the 1999 All Star. He was also in a clip where Teemu handed his son over for him to carry, it's cute and unexpected and very short. BTW, Teemu Selanne got himself a very beautiful wife. What a great looking couple they are. Also when Teemu received his Maurice 'Rocket' Richard Award for most goals scored this year, (first ever Award recipient), they showed PK as well as Duck's coach Craig Hartsburg. All the up close shots of PK had no baywatch babes hanging on his left nor right. Probably went solo this year, which is fine with us bunch, yes? Give MK a time to rest from touring or maybe they aren't ready to reveal their relationship yet...if they are an item at least. That or MK is really seeing that Seattle Olys. hopeful which explained the descriptions Littleone4eva and others gave us of MK during the final COI in Seattle. YOWZERs, don't even want to go there. Well anyway, next up for PK, his contract needs to be signed and as for MK, new programs and hopefully Skate America/Skate Canada and a slew of Hockey games. I can't wait until next season starts. New motto "Maybe next year."

As for my gender, I¹m female to the bone. Full name Manolita and I hail from NYC. I'm a Rangers fan, being a New Yorker, but I root for the Duck's cause of players like Kariya and Teemu Selanne. Other info, I watch all sports, and root for my home teams such as the Knicks for basketball, METs (not Yankees) for Baseball, Giants then Jets for Football. Fun dream would be to work for ESPN, but that is highly unlikely and as fictional as the MK/PK scenario (I'm currently stuck in the financial district of Manhattan). As for other athletes who I wouldn't mind being with, Mike Piazza of the New York Mets, and or Alexander Popov, the Russian Rocket of Freestyle swimming(50m, 100m) but he is married. I discovered PK while watching ESPN's Sportscenter in December '97. He was intriguing 'cause he was Asian looking and I decided to dig up some info on him from the Web. I liked what I saw and was hoping to see more of him especially in the Olys. But he was sidelined with brutal crosscheck that left him with a concussion. It was after MK's Silver Win at Olys that for some reason my mind decided the match up PK and MK basing it mostly on what I've learned about them.(I'm sort of a matchmaker sometimes, bad habit, I know.) History lesson, there was a matchmaking post here on FSW last year a little after the Olys and I intro'd MK/PK because: Both are '94, '98 Olympians (even though she was an alternate in '94, and he didn't get to represent his country due to injury in '98). Both hope to go to 2002 Olys. They both have Silver Medals from the Olys, he in '94, she in '98. MK was favored to win gold, PK and team Canada were favored to win gold in Hockey. They both won a major competition they were in immediately after the Olys. He and Team Canada won the World Championships in '94, she was '98 World Champion. They both were sidelined by some kind of injury last year, he a concussion, she a stress fracture. Both are of Asian descent in some way. She is Chinese, he is half Japanese (father's side) and half Scottish from Canada. Both are very close to their families, especially their dad. Both have a very philosophical outlook as well as a great perspective in life. Both are considered wonderful role models and are especially known for their strength of character. She was hailed for her class and wonderful sportsmanship after the Olys, he has won Two Lady Byng Trophies for Sportmanship and Gentlemanly Conduct for the NHL. Both reside in California, she in Arrowhead (hails from Torrance), he in Tustin. Both have a multiyear contract with Disney, he of-course plays for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim franchise. Both are renowned for their prowess on ice. She¹s known for her grace and beauty on and off the ice, he is known for his finesse playmaking, goal scoring, and lightning speed. (AKA Japanese Lightning.) Both associated with a feathered creature. He's a duck that plays on Arrowhead Pond, she's a Swan that skates at Arrowhead Lake. heehee. Anyway, those were some of the things I mentioned last year of why these two would make a great couple, but it was all wishful thinking. On January 16, 1999, my B-day, on Jennys MK site, I found a piece of news that almost made me fly through the roof. MK was going to skate at Arrowhead Pond for the Mighty Ducks Fanfair. You don't understand how elated I was. My fave athletes in California are actually going to share the same ice together, who'da thunk? Apparently I wasn't the only one who felt that way about these two athletes and then Jenny and Heather created the Michelle Kwan Forum (MKF) and the rest is history. All in all, it's just Big time FAN FICTION created by a bunch of us fans who've probably read too much Romance books on the side (least, I did) One big time RULE of thumb, we try to keep the FAN FICTION where it is, only at the Boyfriend Fan Fiction (BFFF) topic on MKF and not spread it around other boards 'cause we don't want to spread any rumors. We just keep wishing they would get together even though we know in our hearts they probably never would. Side's the stuff we put in there are so outlandish, they can never be anything else but fiction. Sorry for being longwinded, but it had to be said. Mano, I brought up the MK-PK idea in the CBS forum after the Olys at about the same time. I noticed PK long before you. I have the advantage of living in Anaheim. :-) I went to MD games during the 96/97 season and decided PK was my favorite MD player right away. I got the MK - PK idea in the spring of 98. I didn't get that idea earlier because MK wasn't old/mature enough for PK. MK's mature look and very introspective talks in '98 convinced me. The girl I have watched since she's 12 has grown up enough for a boyfriend and I couldn't think of anyone else better than PK! That's the brief history of MY BIG IDEA! LOL! As for sports, I'm the free agent fan. I don't necessarily root for the home teams. I picked the athletes I want to root for, not the teams. :-) Isn't it great that our bubble didn't burst? This called for a celebration! Raise your champaign glasses! Let's toast the perfect couple! Hope they realize they were made for each other very soon! :-)

I have never posted here before and I don't know if this is OK. I hope so. Don't want you to be mad at me :-( I was working on my story for my fantasy of MK at the SLC 2002 Olympics and I wrote a section for #9 but decided I better not put it in there in case it only belonged here. I thought I would give it to you in case your fiction ever gets that far :-) ************************************************ This is at Michelle's gold medal ceremony: As the medal and flower presenters clear the ice Michelle notices #9 walking toward her and stares at him quizzically. "Ladies and gentlemen before we conclude our ceremony someone has a few words he would like to say." #9 takes the microphone and walks over to the podium. He then gets down on one knee. She sees Frank and her Dad looking misty eyed by the boards. At this point Michelle begins to sob. "Well Michelle. Are you going to answer my question?" At this moment the crowd begins to scream "Say Yes" as loud as they can. Michelle is speechless with emotion and simply hugs him while bursting into tears. He gently dries her eyes and slips the diamond onto her waiting hand.

There was no MK, <font face=wingdings size=4>L</font> but there was no other woman. <font face=wingdings size=4>J</font> I had to work last night, so I missed it. The Elvis & Michelle scenario has infiltrated our suddenly porous defense. What's up with that!!! BTW GREAT STORY MARCEllA!!! Honestly, as I was reading your whole 2002 SLC Michelle fan fic I was enthralled and wishing it were true at the same time. But on the other hand I kept waiting to see when PK would make his entrance. LOL, I didn't think you would include him in your story, but gosh, wonderful, wonderful!!! On another note, I always pictured PK proposing after MK's exhibition in the 2002 Olys. If you read a couple of chapters back, Yingshan, myself and a couple of others had proposal scenarios. I think Yingshan scheduled it for 2005. And now for the downers. This Elvis thing is really getting to me and it isn't helping that my sister is spouting things like "Maybe they are going out?" and "You'll see they're going out, you'll see!!!" I threw her out of my room of-course. In FSW, they got "eye contact" stories 'tween Elvis and Michelle in COI and the Disney special, etc...AAARGGH, my head hurts. It's like Luke and Leah they are. Can't have big brother/sister type relationship suddenly grow into something passionate. Like hello, ET phone home. Okay, I'm alright now, I just had to let that out. Time to take out our banners again Chemy. Like "Michelle and Elvis? Fuhgetaboudit!!!" As for the quotes? We posted one from an article on OC Register way back when they just met on the Mighty Duck's Fanfair so that was "in the beginning" type of quote. Other than that, we've heard nothing from either 'cept MK is mentioned in articles when she attends a game or in Blades on Ice where they said she rooted for the Ducks. So we are all technically running on fumes, but one of these day's they'll see they are perfect for each other. When that will be, only God knows.

June or July in 2002. Anaheim Pond. COI. After Michelle performed, the announcer told her to stay on the ice. She looked around in puzzlement. PK skated out in black turtleneck and black suits with a bouque of red roses in his hand. The crowd started cheering and Michelle started smiling with tears in her eyes. She tooked the bouque and let PK kiss her cheeks. Then PK dropped down on his knees. The audience, including me, goes crazy. PK pulled out a small sky blue box ....... Why Anaheim, not SLC? Because it's much easier for PK to have all facility people and the PA announcer cooperate with him in Anaheim. Plus, it's home to both of them. So their friends and families can be there. Third, I can witness it. :-)

But it's not public. It will be at a party or something. A few days before the party, PK will ask MK's parents for their youngest daughter's hand in marriage. They say yes, of course and "welcome to the family, my son." (J/K about the 2nd part) So at this party, the word has spread to everyone except MK and she doesn't suspect anyhing. When PK asks to talk to her privately, she thinks nothing of it. They go outside and find a bench and sit on it. MK is wondering what this is about. PK starts "You know we've been seeing each other for quite a while..." Right here MK's imagination starts to run away with her. But I think we should start seeing other people she thinks. As PK continues, MK can feel herself getting upset. PK gets to the end of his "little speech" and he says "...and if you'll have me, I'd like you to become my wife." Then he gets down on one knee in front of her and says "Will you marry me?" MK already has tears in her eyes because she thinks PK wanted to break up with her. Her tears of sadness turn to tears of joy as she sits there (plesantly) surprised. She can only whisper "yes". Then she hugs him and he stands up, still hugging her and spins her around. Then he slips the ring on her finger. When they go back to the party, everyone turns and looks at them. Even the music turns off. After a couple of seconds someone yells "did she says yes?" Neither of them say anything and MK just smiles and holds up her left hand. Then everyone claps and cheers and of course everyone has to hug and congratulate them. And that's my plan!

This is a story I wrote, with help from Mano. And yes this is mushy, so don't say I didn't warn you. Sports Arena, San Diego, CA... Philippe Candeloro skated around on the ice. He rubbed his butt and about a minute later screamed at a woman sitting in the audience. The woman screamed back with surprise. While all of this was going on, Michelle Kwan stood by the entrance to the rink, waiting to go on. She had never been as nervous before skating as she was right then. It wasn't competition jitters or performance jitters, she was nervous because he was here tonight. They hadn't seen each other since the Anaheim Mighty Ducks/Detroit Red Wings game. After Philippe's routine ended, she stepped onto the ice for a mini warm-up as Philippe took his bows. She scanned the crowd for a certain guy (probably in black), but she couldn't see anything because it was dark except for a spotlight on Philippe. As Philippe left the ice, the announcer said "Ladies and gentleman, from the United States, Michelle Kwan!" Michelle raised her arms and smiled at the audience, but inside she felt like she had a bunch of kangaroos jumping in her stomach. This is worse than the Olympics! she thought. She managed to skate her performance, with a wobble here, a two foot there, before making up her mind to land her final jump solidly, and doing it. As the audience clapped and screamed as the took her bows, Michelle smiled, partly annoyed at herself at not skating her best and partly excited that there was just the finale and then she would finally get to see him again. After Michelle had washed up and changed into her street clothes, she came out of the ladies changing room and she saw him. Paul Kariya was wearing jeans, a black t-shirt, a gray jacket, and whatever shoes Yingshan thinks goes with the outfit. She ran to him and he gave her a big bear hug and presented her with a red rose. Michelle thanked him and apologized for not skating well, but Paul exclaimed "No way! You were beautiful!" and hugged her again. After they had done all the "small talk" about his foot, etc., Michelle asked if he wouldn't mind while she went to sign autographs outside for a few minutes. Of course Paul didn't mind and he said "I'll be bringing the car around." Before they separated, one of the skaters walked by and said "It's chilly out there. You might want to put on a jacket." Michelle started to go back to the dressing room, but Paul said "Here, you can wear mine." and took off his gray jacket and put it over her shoulders. He offered to hold her rose for her, so he went off to the car and Michelle went to meet the fans. After Michelle had finished signing autographs, she went out to the other parking lot and looked for a Lexus, but didn't see one. In fact, the only car she saw was a big black limo. She frowned. She had already told Tom Collins that she was getting a ride to Anaheim, so he wouldn't have held the Champions on Ice bus for her. Suddenly, a window on the limo rolled down and Paul's face popped out. "Ready to go?" he asked. He opened the door and stepped out and after a few moments he grinned and said "Well, are you going to just stand there with your mouth open? You'll probably enjoy it more in here." Michelle finally got in the back seat and Paul got in after her. (By the way, the limo had tinted windows.) She gasped when she saw the other 11 roses with all of the thorns plucked off. "Took them off myself" Paul said, smiling and holding up a hand with a couple of Band-Aids on his fingers. He asked her if she felt like a late dinner and she did, so the limo drove to an out of the way 24-hour diner. There were hardly any customers inside so they didn't have to worry about mobs. As they ate and talked, the old waitress looked at them and thought [i]Aww...young love. Aren't they cute? They reminded her of herself and her husband about 50 or 60 years ago. They left the diner in the limo. Michelle laid her head on Paul's shoulder and closed her eyes and soon she was asleep. He saw a beautiful, quiet, and private beach and asked the limo driver to stop. He picked Michelle up in his arms and carried her near a romantic spot where a bon fire is going on and softly laid her on a blanket on the sand. Michelle woke up and sat up on the blanket and looked around. She saw the surroundings and whispered, "You planned this? It's so beautiful." Paul whispered back "Good. I was hoping you would like it." Michelle exclaimed "Like it? I love it! I think this is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, don't you?" After a deep breath Paul said, "Nah, just the second." Then he looked into Michelle's eyes and at the same time hoped that she wouldn't think that his statement was corny. Luckily for him, she didn't. She looked back and didn't say anything but she could feel her heart fluttering and she blushed a little and looked into her lap demurely. "Really?" she asked softly. But the look on Paul's face answered her question. Michelle slipped out of Paul's jacket since he and the bonfire were keeping her warm. Then they looked up at the full moon and stars and talked a bit. Paul asked Michelle if she was glad that the tour was almost over. She said she was. She sighed. "I love touring, but it's tiring going from city to city sometimes. I can't wait until the end of the tour and then I'm going on vacation right after and then I'll work on my new programs with Frank and Lori. Plus sleep in my own house in my own bed." She kept talking put Paul hadn't heard anything after "vacation". "Your...your vacation?" he asked quietly. "Yeah, after the Seattle show a few of my friends and I are going to..." Michelle trailed off, seeing the frown on Paul's face. "I'm sorry, I'm just really excited. I didn't mean to bore you." "No, you're not boring me, it's just that..." "What?" "Well, the NHL Awards are coming up and I was going to ask you if you would like to be my date, but I see that you'll be busy." Paul wasn't angry or upset with Michelle, just disappointed and a little sad. "Maybe I should have asked you back in January" he said, trying to joke. But Michelle understandably wasn't amused. "I'm so sorry! I would really love to go with you, but I already promised the others and--" "Of course you did, and it's not your fault. Tell you what, you go on your vacation and have fun and I'll go to the awards and we'll get together and do something special after you get back, okay? Just be sure you have access to ESPN2 on June 24." he joked. Then he added "Elvis won't be there, will he?" and Michelle laughed. "Well, who will you go to the awards with?" she asked. Hopefully not some beautiful woman. she thought. Paul seemed to know what she was thinking and grinned. "Don't worry" he said. "I'll go alone and keep an empty seat just for you." Michelle laughed again and then they hugged. Michelle began to let go, but as she pulled away she noticed that Paul was still holding her. They looked into each other's eyes and Paul kissed her on her forehead and then her cheek. Then their lips met softly. After a while Paul pulled away and said "I better get you to the hotel before a search party is sent after you. They packed everything up and got back into the limo and begin the ride to the hotel. Michelle laid her head on Paul's shoulder again, but this time she didn't fall asleep and they didn't talk, they just enjoyed being together in each other's arms. When they got back to the hotel, Paul got out with Michelle and walked her to the front door. The doorman respectfully looked the other way as they said their goodbyes. Holding her roses, Michelle said, "Thank you for everything and especially for inviting me to the awards. I'm sorry I can't go." "The pleasure was definitely all mine and it's okay. Remember we're going to see each other afterward." Paul answered. They kissed again and Michelle pulled away and whispered "good night." Paul watched her go inside. Michelle turned back and smiled and waved just before the door swung shut. Then as Paul walked back to his limo, he pumped his fist in the air. Inside the hotel, Michelle walked toward the elevator. The front desk clerk called out "Good night Miss Kwan" and a couple of tourists staying at the hotel pointed and whispered as they recognized her, but she didn't notice. She got into the elevator, which was empty. After the door closed, she slid down to a sitting position and sighed. "I hope Elena is still up so I can tell her everything. And if she isn't, too bad! I'm still telling her!" The End

You know, I thought it would be interesting to see if we'd incorporate Elvis or Ilia into the storyline, but after reading all the posts of Elvis and MK potentially being together, it doesn't feel right. IMO, they don't have the chemistry that MK does with PK.

Paul's foot rehabilitation was on schedule and its healing well. Paul just started undergoing complete work outs and is back and skating well. Here's a quote from the Orange County Register... "Im feeling great," said Kariya,"it took a long time to heal because it was such a bad break but I was still able to work out with it." Good news for our #9, ESPN reported today the Paul Kariya received a new three-year, $30 million contract that will match him with Colorado's Peter Forsberg as the highest-paid player in the NHL. It's a good article with quotes, etc. although it's short. It's at ESPN.COM in the today' s headline stories. I'm really happy to hear this because I'm a big Mighty Ducks Fan. I saw him on local TV news today, talking about his new contract. He said the money was the last thing on their negotiation list. The most important thing on his list apparently was the three-year-term. He said that's exactly the term he wanted. He apparently doesn't want to be tied down with a long-term contract. Just for you curious fictioners, he's wearing a heather grey T-shirt and blue jeans, the most casual he's ever been to a press conference (reflecting the much easier negotiation?). But he looked good, as always. :-)

Some reports put PK's contract at $32 - 33 millions, instead of $30 millions. LA Times also said he got signing bonus on top of his annual salary. No figure was confirmed by involving parties. My guess is that $2 - 3 million extra probably is the signing bonus. That made him the forth highest paid athlete in S. Cal., behind Shaq (Lakers), Brown (Dogers) and Mo (Angeles). Not bad. :-) Another correction is his outfit. He did wear a black t-shirt at the press conference. Either my memory was failing me or the news clip ABC used was old footage of him, I saw him wearing jeans and heather grey t-shirt yesterday. :-) He said now the contract is done, he can concentrate on "other things" (hmm.....what other things? :-)) He also told reporters that his foot is healing and he'll start skating again in August as he always does. So that leaves him the entire month of July free. I wonder where he'll spend his July. My imagination runs wild. :-)

I think that the particular site you are talking about has listed Paul as married for a very long time. He was engaged before that and the person who runs the list had a little blurb written next to it that said, "yes I'm sure, so please stop asking." The only way I can think that she would be sure is that she knows the wife personally. It would have to be a top secret marraige, which in this day and age is almost impossible to pull off; but if anyone could, it would be PK. It is possible that he is married, even though he says single. Wade Boggs was married for years, but nobody really knew it. There was a woman that used to travel with him that everyone thought was his wife, they used to call her Mrs. Boggs and so on. When the real Mrs. Boggs that no one knew about found out, she divorced him. So, it can happen, but I personally think it highly unlikely.
