hi all... a quick question: since i'm just starting... iwanted to buy some protective shorts... the ones where they have the padding for your hips and your tailbone. i found one on sandra loosemore's pro-shop ... but it looked kind of bulky... i was wondering if there is one that you guys could recommend. are there ones filled with gel?

Susan ba, I think Bunga has come out with a protective short filled with gel. There are some hockey Web sites that have the ones filled with foam, too.

I know there is a site that sells nice..non-bulky gel protective pads...I will try and dig out the URL for you and post it here.

Did you finally get the gel protection pad? How did you like it?

i didn't buy the gel ones... but i did buy compression shorts that has removeable pads... i got it from rainbow... i bought the single layers pads and they seem to be enough for me. of course, i'm only learning the first two singles and ususally have rolling falls so it's been ok. the other skaters tell me that the pads (the tailbone one actually) get the most beating when you learn the loop.

lol, i'll let you know how the tailbone pad holds up once i start learning the loop.

Thanks. The gel set is around $160. I hope someone would tell us whether it does work. BTW, what is rainbow?
