It depends on what type of flutz. If the change of edge occurs
late, like right before you launch up into the jump, it's a pretty
minor detail that can be fixed by thinking about pulling your
skating leg straight back as you jump up. This is what my friend
said at least. What you don't want is to have your blade come
around as you rotate in the air which will result in the blade
changing to a flip entrace.
If the change of edge
is happening way before the jump then you just have to try to
hold the outside edge longer. It helps not to be on a really
severe outside edge since that makes it very hard to pick straight
behind you. Keep the hips square, hands in line with your direction
of movement. Get on a secure edge and don't try to rotate your
body to maintain the edge because it'll cause problems.

Hope it helps! Happy jumping!

I don't!!! Not most of the time anyway. Problem is that I find plenty of other ways to screw up my lutz so that even if it isn't flutzed it's messed up and I usually fall:(
I think I probably used to flutz, I think it just takes a while to get the feeling of the jump. When I was doing single I think I flutzed a lot, but now I'm doing doubles and I think I have to focus on the technique more. Maybe that's why.
Aww who knows I'm tired right now and I still have a long day laft. Heeelp me! AAAAAAAAA!
Sorry about that:)

I've done a true lutz my entire life, but I also "lip" sometimes. Sigh...I can't win. :\

I hope I don't learn how to flutz, lip, etc. It's hard for me to skate since I'm 5'8 1/2" and I live 90 miles away from the nearest ice rink. I think there might be an ice rink next winter around my hometown.
