Hey everyone!

I was thinking it would be great to have a list up of when everyone's competitions are -- that way, we can be sure to deluge you with support and congratulate you on your success!! :D Over at FSW, they often post competition reports in their participant skater forum and it's a great motivator and useful tool for other skaters in the group, to help them know what to expect at the various levels as well as to help motivate them further for their own upcoming competitions....

So, any takers? Who wants to be first?

Icesk8r1 and tara 637,
GOOD LUCK! What level are each of you competing? Don't forget to have fun when you compete.
I'm not certain when I will compete next, but because I am finally 25 I can compete this summer in several competitions I haven't been able to before.

As far as nervousness goes I used to get really nervous at competitions and fall all over the place and be humiliated after it was over. Then, I changed coaches. The new coach prepares me for every situation, anywhere, anytime so no matter what happens I know I can go out there and do my best. He has me coming to the rink to do a 5-minute warmup, then waiting 30 minutes and skating a program, doing a short warmup and skating right away, skating early, skating late, skating two programs back to back, doing the hard parts of the program after an entire program. He also helped me to see that it's not about places or medals, but about my own goals. If my goal is to skate a clean program and I've done it practice 10 times than why shouldn't I do it when I'm the only one on the ice and don't have to watch out for bodies flying in every direction around me? Now I go into competitions not caring about any of the other competitors, the audience, anything. For me, it's a constant challenge -- me against me -- to prove to myself that I can skate a clean program, express the music, center spins, get six revolutions or more, etc. That way I win every time. Hope this can help even a little.

Has anyone been to ISI Adult Nationals before? This year it's Sept. 15-17 in Las Vegas and it's open to skaters 21 and older. Is anyone planning on going?

FYI on USFSA Adult Nationals. It's going to be April 25-29 next year.

Brieanne -- CONGRATULATIONS! :D ;) :D

tara637 -- How did your competition go? I bet you were great!

icesk8r1 -- Good luck next month!

As for me, I may or may not be competing this weekend at State Games at the Adult Bronze level...I have to see how my ankle feels to see if I'll even be able to skate. I really would like to, as State Games is probably the "Nationals" of our area and I've been working really hard for it. I'd love to come home with a medal of any color, as it looks like I'm going to be up against another big group (there were 9 of us at my last competition in the group). Eeek! I'm getting nervous just thinking about this... :eek : :eek : :eek :

Heya Sammson!

I haven't been to ISI Adult Nationals before, but I am hoping to go (although I might be pregnant by then and if so, I probably should skip it, as I have enough balance problems as it is!) ;) The only problem is that although I use FS5 elements in my Bronze program (lutz and sometimes, backspin), I have only tested up to FS3 (can't quite get that tricky FS4 footwork to the level I want), so everytime I skate an ISI, I have to skate at the FS3 level, doing salchows and toe loops instead of my usual lutz/loop and flip. I wish the ISI would have a policy that would allow people to skate up and NOT have to use required elements, as USFSA does. If so, I would definitely be skating at FS4, which is probably where I should be competing at ISI.....what do you guys think?
