Just curious I have been trying for I don't know how long to be able to rotate in the air and I can't. How do y'all do that? I am pretty good with a one foot spin on the floor just can't do any jumps in the air on the floor. I can do half an axel on the floor in the air but that is it. Please tell me what y'all's secret is so that I can do the rest of those jumps myself.

the key thing is just simply"PRACTICE",It came pretty easy for me cuz i take ballet and jazz.I'm not sure how i can help you but You really just gotta be tight on the air, legs tight and arms tight and body straight.(except the position on the your leg is quite different when your'e doing a jazz axel or any kind of ballet jumps)YOU really just gotta attack whatever jump your'e doin. The axel is my favorite cuz it's a forward jump that i can get alot of hight and distance on that jump.3toe is one of my favorite as well ,Now the loop is quite similar to a ballet jump called a tour.Oh and one more thing that will definetely help you is to warm up for about 30 minutes.do stretches and whatever exercise you feel comfortable doing before you practice any jump.

I agree, "practice makes perfect". I jump everywhere I can or feel like jumping.......Im like a bundle of atoms, very energetic. I can do all doubles on the floor, and occasionally the DOUBLE AXEL Im bad at spinning....because on the floor its hard to spin unless I wear some really smooth socks.......I've been jumping for like 2-3 yrs? of all the doubles, I find the 2axel and 2salchow hard to do. We all know why the 2xel is hard, but i have troubles w/my 2sal. I can land it 50% of the time.
I can do 2toe/2toe, and 2lutz/2toe. I just wish that I can do that on the ice....
Beth, just try to jump upward with straight body position and land w/both feet. Until you feel like you have enough height to do a double, just do singles. Thats how I got started. I love it, i think floor skating is very important for any skaters.....if they can do it on the floor, they can more likely to do it on the ice. Thats how I learned how to jump on the ice. I've never taken any lession, maybe thats the reason I can't spin.
But Im going to take lessions this summer, hopefully.
I just simply love the figure skating.

Thanks y'all I will try it! Of course it might help if I had some more room and wasn't afraid of running into the furniture!

I adn do all of the single jumps, but how do you guys get doubles and triples going? I haven't practiced much lately (I'm at school!), but besides getting your arms in fast, how do you get multiple revolutions?

How do you do a 3loop on the floor???...

Kwan Luva

3loop is extremely difficult to do on the floor but I've been practicing them and nail it 70-80% at a time..believe it or not I can do this jump..i do it out of shanae(not sure how to spell it)or susu turns then pop up on the air and land on 2feet in first position or a samurai position.Male ballet dancers do theses kinds of jump...but most of the time I land it on one foot like figure skaters.I wish i had a camera to show you guys and download it..I really wish i can!

How would u do a lutz? You need a back outside edge...(on a foot?????)

Kwan Luva

My technique on the lutz is very unusual..if I was to add this jump in one of my dance routine it would look really ugly so when I practice this jump I do it out of a spiral or the arabesque then as i'm lowering my vaulting leg down with pointed toes,i'm still in an arabesque position then I pop up on the air and do a double...BElieve me it is no picnic..it's very difficult...i hardly even do it truthfully.
