What jump are you working on? I'm currently working on the axel. It's pretty hard to get around! But I'm still working on it.

Before I took time off the ice -- and once I get back on again in a week or two -- I was working on the axel and double loop, since the loop is my best single jump. Both have been quite a challenge! I worked on the harness on both -- I kept getting one and a quarter times around on the axel then land on both feet, then onto my back side. :( I get plenty of height on the double loop but my body has not quite figured out how to do two revolutions off the ice, so it just turns into the most humongous giant single loop imaginable. :/
I'm looking forward to working on these again -- I hope I'll be landing both by Christmas, that's my goal! :)

Hey guys!
I am kind of screwed up when it comes to double jumps.
The hardest I am working on is a double lutz. I don't practice it often since it requires stroking in the opposite direction. I have landed it once (though it wasn't a pretty landing and was probably flutzed).
With this I can not do the easiest of the doubles, the double toe. I hate toe loops.
Keep up the good work everyone!!

HEY AXEL KID,
I also hate my toe jumps.... It always spoils my dream LP. I usually toe footed the landings. My fave jump is the loop. My aerial jump is the Triple Flip. I got so much height going into jump and still have a foot before the landing.. But when I fall on the jump i miss it big time. 8)

Triple flip?? Wow, that's so great!!!
For me, maybe sometime in the next lifetime. Though it's great that you have a BIG triple flip. I love Irina's triple flip (when it's not too telegraphed)...the wonderful suspension, it just takes your breath away.
Yes, I can't STAND the double toe.
and oh yes, good luck on your interviews!! Let us know if you get the job.

I'm sure you'll get a triple jumps within this lifetime axelkid! My friend, Skateberry, could do all the single jumps and laughed every time I said I'm sure you'll be able to do doubles sometime! We thought it was the most far off thing in the universe but she lands double salchows all the time!
That is so awesome that you are doing triples quad lutz!!!!!!!!!
Everyone seems to be working at doubles but I'm stuck down in the 1/2 and single zone! :b :lol For me the hardest jump may be salchow! They are the easiest yet to me they are really hard! I've been going skating a lot more than I used to though and my salchows have made some improvements. I don't have a teacher right now (she's going to have a baby soon!!) so I am trying little things on my own. I can do half jumps but I tried a whole lutz...just a try!! It didn't really work but it's fun!!
Best of luck to everyone with their hardest elements!

Thanks for the wonderful encouragement Skate517!
There's nothing small or easy about working on single jumps. They represent their own challenge in being the first exposure to the different jumps that exist and are certainly important for developing the proper technique and form. And there's something great about singles because they have a floating quality that you can't get with the other jumps.
I know this wonderful skater, she's more mature and she's in awesome shape. She sometimes teaches and she doesn't do doubles. But her singles are the most breathtaking thing that I've seen. She goes into them with the speed you'd expect for a triple and she probably gets a good two and a half feet above the ice and she travels about 5-6 feet across the ice. I'd take that over a little, done from a standstill double jump any day.
So good for you! Working on singles and half jumps is awesome.

Thank you as well axelkid! Wow...that's amazing...2 1/2 feet off the ground! I'd love to see something like that...well I guess we all get to see it everytime we see an elite skater pop a triple into a single! They practically split in the air! I was watching Michelle Kwan in her warm up for Skate Canada long program and she did a waltz jump....whew! It was a split jump basically! The most amazing waltz I've ever seen! (besides the one Elvis does in his Star Wars program!)

hi, well skate517 already sort of told you this but now i'm working on double toes... but the axel really took me a year and a half (aah!) i still don't land them at all consistently but double salchows are easier for me than axels. after the axel, the easier double jumps really aren't too hard. i have only been working on double toes for a few weeks and i can almost do it! for some reason though, i haven't been able to land any jump harder than a lutz for a few days (it might be because i fell on my hip but i dont htink so!)
to anyone who is working on the axel, don't give up! i know a lot of people who told me they used to skate but gave up on the axel! and maybe for some people, it's easier, but for a lot of people axel's take forever to learn! but as long as youre not afraid to keep trying, you'll eventually do it! :) :) :) :)

Hmm...they would probably have to be double salchow and double loop. (Just starting doubles! :D )

Well I am not really learning any new jumps, I am really trying to get my 2 axel consistent before I move on, and I really want to pass my Juvenile moves test!!!!!

My jumps are interesting. I have worked on triple sals and triple toes in the past, butsince my Double flip and lutz disappeared I had to stop working on Double axels and triples and get them back. Now I've finally gotten a consistent Double flip (praise be to the skating gods!) and am on the verge of getting my double lutz back (it's sooooo close I just can't stand up on it!) and am allowed to work on my d axel again! Woo Hoo! I think. I have to dig out all the extra padding for that one...
