I have no idea if someone posted this already as I am all protested out,a and I am ready to call it a night on the Kwan protest campaign.

Howeva,

you can protest here because someone else already has on another board: www.isu.org/vsite/vform/p...rt,00.html (http://www.isu.org/vsite/vform/page/feedback/1,11038,4844-130886-132194-74548-user-feedback-start,00.html)

US Figureskating is not being discreet about this:

i sent the isu a note with the above link, this is what i wrote:

i am outraged upon hearing of the unfair travestry that was the ladies short program involving michelle kwan. i sincerely hope that the tapes are reviewed to see if kwan really did exceed her time limit. if she didn't her .1 should be added back to her score in all fairness, why penalize the athlete for the mistake of a referee. if kwan is penalized for her timing, so should others for cheated jumps, slight two footed landing and flutzes, under rotated jumps ect. people are already arguing and believing that figure skating is not a real sport, do you really want to reafirm this? this will all leave a sour taste, people will loose faith and the ratings for skating will decline. why watch such a biased "sport" when there are other problems in society to worry about. please consider this and all the other responses that i'm sure you have gotten regarding this matter. thank you for your time.

i couldn't help it, i had to put in my 2 cents.

Sorrowfree, thanks for the link. I just e-mailed the ISU. I had been wanting to do this all evening. Just letting them know how I feel about what happened made me feel a lot better. Now what we need are links to all those "journalists" who are showing their knowledge by writing about the situtation. (being sarcastic).

you guys rock! we are all waiting for news on this!

it's up to the interpretation of the officials, but something like this should not be so ambiguous. it's clear she starts moving way after the music begins.

I actually just sent off my comments:

Dear ISU:

I am writing to make a comment on the decision rendered at the World Championships in Dortmund 2004 during the short program of the Ladies event.

I feel there was an abuse of the rules that determine the length of time a skater is allowed to perform her program in the case of Michelle Kwan of the United States.

To make a skating analogy, the deduction of .1 from each of Kwan's marks was like judging a triple flip with a 1/8 of a turn cheat as a double flip.

Figure skating is not basketball. It's not football. The clock is not an aspect of the sport that should figure so deeply into a result. If a skater misses the end of her music she would only do so for a mere second because it takes that long to know that the music is over in the event the skater lost track of her monotonous music for a few moments during the load roar of the crowd.

Miss Kwan finished all of her elements before 2:40 of actual momement and skating.

She did not make such an error that she needed to finish the revolutions of a final required spin past the designated 2:40 for 4 or 5 more seconds pass the allotted time therefore making a gross violation of the rules.

On Friday, March 26th, 2004 there seemed to be an abuse of the rules out of spite for a very successful and affluent American champion. This idea can not be proven, but this is what the aggressive punishment for a rather subtle violation of a secondary regulation seems to project to worldwide audiences.

It may have been a correct ruling by the slimmest of margin, but it was not an appropriate ruling.

The intention of the rules do not appear to attack situations like these that seldom happen and aren't indicative of some gross error in composing and performing a program.

If a more accurate measurement of the extent of Miss Kwan's error is needed than a reinterpretation of the rule should be made in a diplomatic spirit out of interest of the image of the sport of figure skating and its governing body the ISU. Miss Kwan should not have been penalized for the flourish in her final pose that creating movement for an extra second past the allotted time of her program. .1 should be added to all of her marks, and her placing should be reassessed and calculated before today's free skating portion of the ladies championships.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

i just used the F word 30 times and Azz word like 10 times. I already new the result and it was too late to do anything. What infuriated me was that her arms barely moved!! and she wasnt doin an element or finish up an element. It was an ending pose. What the F$%%$#%^# is up with that?? I woke up after 4 hours of sleep to find out this crap?? excuse my language, i am really really upset about this blatant corruption/conspiracy/hidden agenda. BTW, to any Mk haters, this IS an obvious corruption/conspiracy/hidden agenda.

please help me so we can email them as well and tell the ISU we are doing so. Please consider following up emails with snail mails as this will show we are not just a fly by night protest with too much internet time on our hands mail bombing the ISU out of spite but instead that we are serious fans. I know the USFSA sponsors but help me track down the sponsors advertising on the boards at Worlds plus the most common TV advertisers.

I not only sent a protest to the ISU I sent one to the IOC as well! It is time for them to step up to the plate and remove the ISU as the governing body of figure skating!

So don't you guys feel silly now? I mean, MK made a mistake. She won't let that happen again. And since COP will probably be voted in next year, what's going to change?

Well the ISU is going to do what the ISU wants to do, no matter what we write them. However, if you want to get their attention, mention only one thing:

Until figure skating is cleaned up, none of your hard earned money will go to an ISU or ISU sanctioned event. $$$$ is the only language they understand.

I sent a letter to the ISU:

"After being able to watch Worlds, I am extremely upset with the way things turned out. This is especially with Michelle Kwan. The short program scores were ridiculous. Shizuka Arakawa should have been 4th with two cheated landings. I understand Michelle Kwan was penalized for being over the time limit. That is fine. However, she still would have been 2nd after the deductions if the judges did their job. Because of this Michelle Kwan ended up bronze at Worlds. Shizuka is our champion. That is a hard reality to swallow. I also understand that if Shizuka Arakawa would have been 4th, she still would have won Worlds because Michelle Kwan beat Sasha Cohen in the long and Shizuka won the long. Michelle Kwan should have been in Silver position. I am just so disgusted. You are not conquering the judging problems. No one is being held accountable. This is why a figure skater should be head of figure skating, not a speed skater who is clueless."

That's what I said. But, in the end, I am proud of Michelle and Sasha. Good day for US ladies figure skating as I have said but the results would have been different.

penalized for errors yet MK was. I wouldn't be mad if *everyone* was treated the same.

As for CoP I am sure that judges and/or officials will find a way to not notice requried deductions unless it suits them just as they do under 6.0 and have done all season in the GP.
