I've joined the ranks of the spoiled. So now I'm coming to see everything that's happened. Anyone want to give me a quick run down of everything that's happend. I know what happend in the qualifying round but nothing after that but the podium. I'm gonna read all the past posts, but a quick synopsis would be helpful.

Michelle skated a great short program but went over 2 second. The line judge Jan Hoffman deducted her.1 off every mark for going over the time limit. She also got some very low scores for tech marks (5.1 fo 5.6)

Arakawa skated a great LP with two triple tiples and won the FS, Michelle was second with a great skate (a lot of 6.0's) but doubled one lutz and Sasha skated a some what decent LP but had a huge bobble on one jump and some problems with anothr o get 3rd in the LP.

Overall
Arakawa got the Gold
Sasha the silver and Michelle a hard fought bronze.

The judges gave out ridiculous scores for flawed programs and didn't deduct where they should have.

There was a bit of controversy in the sp, apparently did a clean short but the ref said she skated 2 seconds over so she got a deduction which put her in 4th place after the short program. The USFSA filed a protest for the deduction but the ISU did nothing about it. It was on CNN, Foxsportnet website, ESPN and there was also other articles.

Basically in the SP Michelle was flawless and just wonderful. The referee told all the judges that her program was 2 seconds too long, which is a .1 deduction from each score on both sets of marks. One judge gave her a 5.1 on the technical mark in the SP. Michelle was 4th after the SP. The USFSA filed a protest that the program wasn't too long that it should be counted from the time she starts moving until the time her skates stop moving. The ISU rejected the protest and the standings stood. Michelle skated well in the LP with 6 perfect 6.0s and finished 3rd overall.

Not to pick only on you, GoldenMichelle, but I wish posters would stop posting extraneous threads and add their comments to threads that are already up, as it just pushes interesting, informative threads far down

During high traffic periods such as this I look for threads on topics I'd like to add to instead of starting new threads with comments that repeat topics that have already been started in other threads.

I don't know if anyone else feels this way.

For instance, GoldenMichelle, you can get synopsis by reading all of the fascinating reports and posts here. You don't need to start this thread. You could have posted your comments under the thread started on the topic of non-spoiled people to point out that you have become non-spoiled and why.

I know this is hard to control, but the high traffic and continual starting of new threads makes many of us miss interesting threads.

Sorry LuvMK, but I thought it would be easier to find out what was going on if I could just get a synopsis. I didn't think anyone would care. There are TONS of posts from the last 2 days, and I didn't want to miss anything important. I don' think my post is extraneous at all. I'm sorry you feel that way though.

Sometimes it takes too long to read the really long thread and if a person just wants to quickly know something its sometimes better to start a new thread. And for someone who was trying to go unspoiled, but then found out there is a lot to read and GoldenMichelle just asked for a quick recap to catch up on what happened. There is no need to pick on her.

Thanks Yzer...there are 17 pages of posts since the SP started...It would take me all day to go through them. LOL I appreciate the info from everyone.

Like I said not meaning to pick on you. Like you said it can take all day going through to find things, but that's simply because there are a lot of extraneous threads posted.

To me its easier for there to be 10 or 12 substantial threads to look through and read, rather than having to search for informative threads through a lot of one and two comment posted threads. Of course, you are really not the one person I should have used as an example. However, because your topic is not as extraneous as some, perhaps people will come to this thread, see what I had to say, and maybe make an effort to post comments in threads that have already been started. However, I doubt it. :)

My complaint, I'm sorry, is not with you directly. Its just a bit frustrating, that's all. By now, some very interesting threads are buried in the heap. Oh, well, I guess it all comes out in the wash, or the rehash, anyway!

BTW, why did you decide to become unspoiled? Are you glad you did?

It is frustrating on many topics when people choose to go unspoiled, or only check into MKF periodically, then want people who have been there all along to summarize things, answer questions, rehash everything, tc. rather than reading on their own. But as long as someone doesn't mind answering, I guess it's ok. And I don't mean to single out GoldenMichelle in any way because s/he is a wonderful MKF member.

And right before Michelle skated, some guy ran down into the ice... really.

You also have to keep in mind that some people have really slow computers and reading those really long threads takes them a lot longer with all the images that have to be loaded, etc. It may seem practical to you to only have 10-12 long threads, but that punishes those with the slower connections. There is no harm in asking what they missed.

I didn't decided to become unspoiled...It happened accidentally. And no I'm not glad. I really wanted to remain unspoiled for this competition. I'm totally bummed that I found out.
