I have been practicing the Mohawk for many weeks now and I am still having trouble. For the transition part, I have difficulty placing my free foot on the instep of my skating foot. It seems that we have to open our hips really wide, kind of like a spread eagle to me. And do we have to pre-rotate our body before the transition? It's also hard for me to stay on an inside edge before the change of foot. It's a little discouraging. Skaters at the rink seem to execute it so easily. Any suggestions?

Don't worry, I'm struggling with that move too...
It seems to me that most skaters put the inside rocker on the ice instead of the inside back edge, so if the hip isn't that turned out it's still okay since the foot kinda slides into the correct position. Just an observation on my part, since I can't do a mohawk either..

hmm good question. Well, lets see. I skate so, a mohawk. My advice your gliding on one foot right? Try doing it very slow to get it. Also try it on the carpet it helps a lot!
