Hi!
I'm 17 and just started skating 6 months ago. Now I'm in intermediate level (it's the same as beta or gamma level in ISI) but in Australia we call them basic, novice, intermediate and advanced for learn to skate levels.
I can do f & B crossovers, 2 foot turn, and other basic stuff. I need help and advice on my technique, when ever I skate I always have funny feelings on my other foot which is the weaker foot (my right one), but I'm a counterclockwise skater. I can do a F crossover on right-over-left foot easily, but I can't do it on the other way. My right foot seems so weak and they tend to be on the inside edge sometimes. when I do one foot glide on my right foot, i can;t hold it any longer, not even up to a second. I practice it all the time, but I always end up falling down and I have the worst T-stops ever, when doing it on my right foot!
My right foot cannot hold my body! It has little balance
It drives me crazy all the time!!!! I can do all single jumps OFF the ice, sometimes an axel, I jump to the left and land on my right foot successfully, why can't I have more consistency on my right foot when doing simple skating?
Please someone help me, what should I do to improve the balance on my right foot?
i think it's really funny cos I can do B crossovers on both ways, but I'm hopeless in forward crossovers, i think i'm a bit traumatic, cos when I used to practice F crossovers, I fell down all the times, that gave me bad memories hahaha!
btw, do u think I can take up private lessons now, since i'm still a beginner? I've seen sooooo many young kids taking private lessons even though they're still in basic levels.
I only skate once a week every weekend, do you think I should skate more often??

thx guys!

Don't worry about the left foot-right foot thing: all you can do is just keep practicing on the other foot and it'll get better! I used to be so afraid of doing left-over-right crossovers but now they're pretty comfortable. They still feel somewhat funny, but it's probably because I feel the outside edge more with the right skate than the left...I'm suspecting my left blade of being misaligned but the rink that I skate at is staffed by hockey guys so I don't know what I should do, LOL...I'll keep at it some more and if it's really obvious that something's wrong, I'll have to go somewhere else to fix it, I suppose...but for now I'm more suspecting myself of doing things funny on my different sides, LOL..:lol

But reading your post, it seems that it might be the right blade that is at fault, worse than my situation...I can hold edges out a lot longer now and my balance is fairly equal on both feet (I still favor my right foot somewhat because I can control my edges more on my right foot), but my edges are still iffy, especially on my left foot. If your blade is really off, you'll have to go to your pro shop to have it fixed, but hopefully your rink will have more people into figure skating, LOL.

My crossovers are better right-over-left as well, but that's probably because the rink makes us skate CCW when I'm practicing...:) I really should go there more, since I only practice once a week as well, but I'm improving...somewhat, LOL. As for getting a private coach, it might be a good idea but I haven't really thought about it yet. I'm more of the leave-me-alone-and-let-me-figure-it-out person anyway, though I could probably still use some help on my three-turns, LOL...
