I have to say Aarakawa won BECAUSE of TT. She is a great coach and great coach comes with great students and that means WIN. She knows how to train her student. I wish Michelle took that chance to be trained with her when TT left Sasha. I seriously sometimes wonder what would happen if Michelle is trained by TT.
Can somebody give me some reasons why michelle doesn't wanna to be trained by TT?

TT isnt a jump coach.... RA is. TT even said when she had sasha that they were going to get someone to work on the jumps.
MK went to RA for the jumps. She doesnt need TT's artistry.

lets not forget who got the 6.0s in presentation marks. Mk's jumps are HIGHER now, RA is somethin, workin on magic.

How does anyone know that Michelle didn't want to be coached by TT?

I kinda think that MK could pick her own coach. If she had wanted to be coached by TT, she could have been. She didn't want to leave California.

Maybe she didn't want to move to CT.

i don't know, maybe she just doesn't like the woman..she can be grating on you....
on eurosport...alexai yagudin said that when sa came to them 1 and 1/2 months ago they changed some things but mostly worked on her artistry...now we KNOW michelle doesn't need that help !!!!! and i truly believe, if she had done the last lutz...even with 6 triples vs. sa triple-triples...michelle would have won the free...but i'm so proud of her anyway what with this crazy week and all...

I think Arutuian is a wonderful coach. I haven't seen Michelle's jumps with this much height since the days of Salome. She just need time to really work into those 3/3 combos. I think with Michelle, just one 3/3, no matter what they are, is enough to win her the gold at 2006 Oly.

We don't know whether this was even discussed between TT and Kwan. I know TT respects MK a great deal, and if it was ever discussed after 2002 Olympics, at that point I don't think MK wanted to bear down and have a taskmaster coach. She wanted to take her time, see how she felt about skating in 2003 and take a more casual approach, which she did with fantastic results working on friendly, no-strings tied basis with Scott Williams.
When MK was ready to bear down and begin working harder with a taskmaster for a coach, she chose RA. Obviously, if MK had ever considered TT, by that time it was out of the question, as TT had already been hired and then fired by SC contingent. I like TT and am eager to see how Shizuka has improved.
I love MK and her choices. I wish I could bottle her spirit, determination, and belief in herself, especially in the face of such efforts to pull her down.

Although I agree that TT made Shizuka win the gold, I don't think it would bring the same results for Michelle.
Like someone mentioned, TT is not a technical coach and rather more of the style and artistic side of things. Michelle already has her own style - which everyone knows is better than anyone else. It may just bring more conflict to her skating if she works with TT.
Rafael on the other hand is just who Michelle needs at this point. Bring more technical difficulties to her programs and do the rest as she's always done them.

Michelle should stay with Rafael. Period.:)

Raphael must be the right coach for Michelle, which is why she selected him.
IMO, Raphael seems to be a class act just like MK. They look like the perfect team in the K&C.
TT would be the wrong choice for MK. She doesn't need a wacky Russian lady yelling at her across the rink. (sorry, don't want to offend with that comment).

:D Agree! Michelle should stay with Rafael!!! I've watched the videos and I still think SA's presentation looked labored - she doesn't have the lightness of Michelle, and if you take away the triple-triples and replace them with triple-doubles, her artistry can't hold her above Kwan. I really think this is Shizuka's moment in the sun, I just don't see her keeping this up for two years. But I'm thrilled she won as Michelle couldn't! I can't tell you how relieved I was when I checked the results dreading that I was going to see Sasha's name as winner! I cheered when I saw she wasn't!
Sorry, but I did. I couldn't stand the thought of Sasha and Robin crowing. And TT can say to Sasha: "you see, it isn't my coaching that's at fault - I took a skater that one month ago nobody would have believed could win - but she did. You did not beat her - yet again, you did not skate a clean long program." Or something like that.

MK has two dogs, she's afraid TT is gonna wear them, hehehe.

TT is a perfect coach for Shizuka. Shizuka always had the technicals, but she suffers in the presenation. I guess TT finally helped her fault over enough so with the tech she was unbeatable. This was same with Kulik and Yags.
OTOH, she's not that much help for someone like Michelle or Sasha. They need technical help. RA is great for Michelle for that. It's a good partnership. I don't know what more TT can do for Michelle that Michelle can't already do.
That's my take on it. And if RA can figure out a way for Michelle to land 3/3s and quads, then Michelle will truly be unbeatable.

Michelle doesnt need TT. She needs someone to help her with triple triples. I heard TT doenst even get on the ice with her pupils. shes yelling over the boards at them while smoking like a chimney. Michelle Kwan and Sasha are way to classy for that.
