Which of these scenarios would be MOST painful??

1. If Michelle WON the GOLD after being 2nd in the short
2. If Michelle won the GOLD after leading after the short
3. If Michelle won the GOLD after being 4th after the short
4. If Michelle won the GOLD after being 6th after the short
5. If Michelle won the GOLD after being 7th in the short

After all the media attention and the media's underestimating her, I'd like to know what the FANS think.

Personally, I'm not sure about what I think, but as long as Michelle skates well, I don't care.

What does everyone else think??? Which outcome do you think Michelle would want? I've seen video of Nagano and Salt Lake, and I am still not sure which one would be best.

Which one do you think will happen??? Which one of the outcomes would disappoint you the MOST?? DISCUSS!!!!!!

Can't decide between scenario 3 or 5...hmmmm but 2

Probably scenario 2 would be the most painful :lol ;)

None of them are disappointing or painful...no matter what placement she was entering the long, if she won, wouldn't that ultimately be the best scenerio possible? Actually, the best scenerio possible would be after her long program in the kiss & cry, she blows a kiss to a special someone and gives a wink to a person unmentioned *cough* G MAN *cough* but that's another story!

How about -- None of the above!!! :lol

Frankly, Michelle has skated so wonderfully throughout her career, I can't imagine being disappointed with any one of those scenarios. Some might be a little more fun than others, but I wouldn't be able to get to a state of true disappointment with any of them. :rollin

If Michelle qualifies to go to the Olympics, then....

6. If Michelle winds up very sad and disappionted for some reason, then I will be disappointed for her, not in her, and still thrilled for her that she earned her way to the Olympics 3 times in a long and brilliant amateur career.

7. If Michelle walks away truly happy and at peace with the results, then I'll be doing a happy dance!

8. If a Gold Medal happens to comes along #7 above, then I will add some cartwheels and back flips to the happy dance! :D

If I'm limited to only 5 the choices you provide, then my answer is still none of the above. :lol

Along with the new rules, comes the possibility of coming from way behind after the SP to win. That could be actually quite thrilling. Sort of like your favorite football team being down 28 to 0 at half time and coming back to win 31 to 28 with a field goal in sudden death playoff.

So you know me. I'd ask the question a different way using your 5 scenarios:

"Which of these scenarios would be the LEAST thrilling?" :D

Edited to add:

G-Man--ROTFLMAO!!!! We were posting about the same time and I didn't see your reply until now. Good one! :lol

None of the scenarios would be disappointing to me.

As for Ginny's suggestion, which would be the most thrilling? I'd have to say "all of the above." :lol I don't like to think too far ahead, but assuming Michelle is there in Turin, I will most probably be so far beyond thrilled there isn't even a word for it. If on top of being there she won the gold, well, I can't even contemplate how I would feel :) I think I'd be overwhelmed :FL

If michelle wins gold (any scenario), I will jump on the beam and perform 5 arabians on a row(even if my injured foot can break in pieces):eek . However, if she is 7th after the short, I don't know if I will be able to stand the heart pain. I just hope she wins.:D

None of them are painful if she wins gold. I don't care if she's 10th after the short if she wins Olympic gold.

What would painful would be for her to win the short again and not win the gold. <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/embarassed.gif" /><img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/frown.gif" /><img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/sick.gif" />That would be knife + heart = PAIN

None. As long as she wins gold at the end, I don't care how she did in any preceding rounds. On the contrary, it'd be most exciting to see Michelle come from behind and take the title!! This will also show the judges aren't all that bad this time around.

I don't think that it's about the medal really. Michelle has said time and again that she coudn't continue at the level she is at right now if it was all about the medal and getting the gold.
that said, I would love for her to get the gold, and nothing would be disappointing about that at all!

3-5 would add tears of sadness between the short and the long.

1-2 wouild probably give me tears off happiness between the short and the long.

Each would give me anxiety leading up to the long.

All would give me tears of happiness after the long.

Actually, the question for me is what would be the most thrilling.

I can see her having what would end up being called the real "skate of her life" and blowing the rest of the field away OR coming back from way down in the pack after a poor SP score and still winning.

Either of the above would be fantastic. Any other scenerio in which she ends up with the OGM would be fantastic too but a wee bit less thrilling in the drama dept.

I just want to see her skate at the OLY's and let the chips fall where they will.

GO MICHELLE

Eeyora - I just wanted to add that placing out of the top 3 can mean a variety of things with the new system....so there may not be a need to cry any sad tears before the long program! If the third place skater is like 15 points ahead of the 4th place skater (for instance Michelle) then she'll need to skate really well in the long, but usually, the points are clumped together very narrowly, so Michelle could be say 7th, and still be within a few points from 1st place.

At first when I saw this post I thought there was some mistake and didn't really understand the thread. All the options said Michelle wins Gold so I thought "None of those choices are disappointing to me". Then I read the other comments in the thread and understood. My answer is " None of the above".
