I would love to live near there and go to that state of the art fitness center. Forget ice skating. I'd fall down and go boom, but that fitness center is awesome. What a beautiful place that is as beautiful as Michelle Kwan herself.

I was vacationing in LA last week. My girlfriend's daughter is now training at MK's rink. I went with them to see the place. It is awesome! I think this is the best ice skating rink i've ever seen. The layout is very efficient with state of the art equipments.
i don't know how true this is but that was what i heard. Saw Karen Kwan and Danny Kwan. Karen is in the rink helping the kids with their lessons while Danny Kwan was actively watching everything and everyone who goes in and out of the rink.
edited out time

I've been trying to get a trip planned out to visit, and now I'm going to wait til this gallery opens before going. It sounds like it will be really neat! Maybe they'll put some of Michelle's dresses on display as well. :SP

Thanks Heather for editing the time out. The privacy issue didn't occur to me when i was writing the message. My sincere apology.
On the side note, i noticed a security patrol car in the parking lot. There is at least one security guard in the building. I was told that the area - Artesia Blvd. - apparently is not a very good area. The building is nice and you can smell the "newness" of everything.
Awesome

violinstarfish: the gallery is in the second floor. the shelves made of heavy woods with glasses are ready but are still empty. It looks very nice which I am sure is going to be very special when ready. I think the gallery leads to the ballet training room.
The ice surface is an Olympic size rink.

It will be interesting to see if the MKF medal is one of the items on display when they get it set up.

When I first learned of this Ice Palace-rink deal my initial thought was that it may have been built on the land in Downey that they made the Space Shuttle engines (Hollywood ended up with that land).
