Here is my idea. I have no idea how to make it work or if it is workable. But I would like to post it on this board and maybe get the ball rolling. On February 21, 2002 Michelle Kwan will skate her free skate in the Salt Lake City Olympics. Personally I only care if she wins for her sake, if it makes Michelle happy then I am for it. But she certainly doesn't need to prove anything to me. She is one of the greatest skaters of all time period; what happens in Salt Lake City can not change that.

But whether Michelle wins or loses something positive should come of that day. So my idea is that on Feb 21, 2002, we all go to the Children's Miracle Network site and make a donation in Michelle's honor. That way even if Michelle doesn't get a gold medal she will get the satisifaction of knowing that a lot of her fans have done something to help sick children. As long as we can figure out a way to let Michelle know. Anyway this is the web site.

So how do we make this work?

I didn't see that Diane's birthday project is a year round thing now when I posted my idea. That is great Diane. Though I do like the symbolism of everyone donating on Feb 21. To me the Olympics are an overblown circus. And I like using that day as a way to do something positive, instead of just catering to the whole commercialized Olympic madness.

Sigh I am not explaining this well. I hope my idea is getting through anyway.
