Well you did it again, congratulations Michelle!

I'm so proud of you! Each season you continue to grow both as a skater and a person, meeting new obstacles and overcoming them time after time. This season was a big challenge for you, but you and Frank had a plan, you both stuck to that plan, and it payed-off!

When I saw your qualifying round at worlds, a perfect performance after the separation of your boot, I knew then nothing could stop you from reclaiming Gold. Your short and long programs were inspired and full of joy, and I found myself crying along with you at the end of your long program performance...a truely special moment! (Believe me, many people were along with you during that skate)

Michelle, as you know the reality of Salt Lake is right in front of you now. Fans, the skating community, and the media will be looking to you, yet again, as the Gold standard with many expectations to meet. Don't let the pressure get the better of you, stay cool and calm and all will go well. Don't listen to certain media critics and the scenarios they'll come up with over the next 10 months, continue to believe in yourself and you'll continue to succeed, you've proven those "critics" wrong two years in a row now! Look back on your career so far and reflect on what you've achieved and what you've learned over the years......you're ready for anything now!

There's nothing I can say to you that you haven't already heard or will hear from people this coming year. I do want you to know that the most important thing to me is when you are happy and full of joy, for when you're in that "sweet spot," you can't lose. That's always been your greatest source of strength on the ice.

Godspeed Michelle, stay healthy, strong, focussed, and happy! The coming season doesn't end on foreign shores this time, it ends in the United States where you'll be skating in the company of thousands of supporters. What a comforting feeling that must be.

I'll be at 2002 Nationals along with my mother cheering you on and hopefully getting an opportunity to say hi. Until then, have a great summer and best of luck this coming season Michelle.

Undaunted Courage!

All my best,

Greg :-)

Dear Michelle,

Congratulations on your 4th World title! You were amazing at these championships from start to finish. People have used words to describe your long program performance such as beautiful, joyous, exquisite, masterful, powerful, gorgeous - and I agree with all of those and more. All of us here at the MKF (Michelle Kwan Forum) were praying for you - to be healthy, to skate from the heart and be thrilled with your performance. Those prayers were answered, and the Gold medal is just icing on the cake. After the last lutz when you went into the split falling leaf, you jumped higher than I have ever seen and the unrestrained joy and emotion on your face made many of us shed tears of happiness and awe.

Goodbye, odd year jinx! And good luck next season, Michelle. We are all rooting for you. I am continuously grateful just to have the pleasure of watching you skate.

Michelle,

you have brought so many smiles to my face. I have seen you grow up in front of my eyes. You are very special.

I am wishing you the best for the up coming season. I would love to be in Salt Lake City to cheer you for the Olympic's but that isn't possible. I will be home with my husband and our son cheering you. Just listen to the camera's and you will be able to hear me.

Please stay healthy and stay focused. Don't ever believe what the critic's say because they have no idea what they are talking about.

Michelle congratulations for winning your 4th world title. The way you've skated during the 2001 World Championship was breathtaking, mesmerizing and magical. Michelle,
How do you do it? Class, Skating, and boyfriend. I'm your age, and I attend college, but for me its just so hard to keep up with all of my classes. But this semester I have Anatomy. Do you have to take that? It's so hard, but I'm surviving. I can't wait till I get out of that class. Well, I just wanted to say congratulations on adding another title to your repertoire. I wish you luck with everything especially school and of course skating. My e-mail address is jfrishb@clemson.edu if you ever want to talk. We don't even have to talk about skating--just stuff. Good luck in the future. Kick some butt!

Michelle,

Congratulations on your win at Worlds. Simply wanted to express my gratitude to you, for sharing your love and heart with us through your extraordinary skating, and through your magnificent interal beauty. Thank you for sharing such a splendid and mesmerizing World Championships with us, we were very touched.

The qualifying round, the short program, and the freeskate were truly great. It is that smile, that uplifting theme in your skating that makes the difference. East of Eden was so full of freedom and joy, everyone was touched by it. I loved the way Song of the Black Swan evolved; from a rather dark mood at Skate America, it turned to a program with joy at the worlds with your smiles. Romantic, uplifting, joyful pieces of music suit you best, and music with fire and power gives the program that extra oomph. In the freeskate, I saw moments and Lyra Angelica, and after you struck your end pose, I saw a 15 year old Michelle Kwan with the same fulfillment expression. Salome was one of my favourites too, simply because the music made my heart beat faster, attracting me to it. I hope you will have very powerful, yet joyful music for your programs next season; that spark combined with your spark equals first rate, which can give you an extra edge.

Take some well-deserved rest, and enjoy the tour. Remember to take some time for yourself. Good luck training for the Olympics, and hopefully you will be back in Lake Arrowhead to skate in the altitude. I really hope you will be back there! Best of luck in your journey.

"Ask, and it shall be given to you; Seek, and you shall find; Knock, and it shall be opened to you." Matthew 7:7

Undaunted courage! Just let it go. Take a deep breath, and smile!

Really has a nice ring to it, huh? Michelle, as a long time adoring fan (I have watched you through all of your world championship years and the years in between) I really have to say congratulations to you. I think this performance is one of my all time favorites because not only were you fabulous, stunning, and brought tears to my eyes, but you looked so happy. I hope you felt as happy as you looked because seeing you on the ice made me feel better about myself. I guess you have that influence on me, you really make my days a little bit easier because you bring a smile to my face, a tear to my eye, and joy to my heart.

As a 15 year old, you serve as my hero. I truly love you for what you are on and off the ice. Thank you so much for once again sharing with the world some of your magic, and you deserve all of the glory that you will ever get X 1000 because you truly have the heart and soul of a champion! Congrats!<3 :)

For the people who love your skating and love the person who you are - without even having met you! - there are no words that can adequately describe the feeling we get when we witness your strength and beauty and the pure joy that you skate with and share with each and every one of us. Congratulations on an incredible week at Worlds!

After winning Gold in Salt Lake next year, don't take too long to get back to Westwood! UCLA will be anxiously awaiting your return with many an awesome experience to offer!

Congratulations on your fourth World Title! You really deserved it. Your programs have grown so much this season. I have enjoyed all of them. I was so happy when you won this it. It is a moment I will forever cherish because I shared it with my wonderful friends here at the MK Forum.

Ever since the first time I saw you skate at 98 Nationals, your skating has filled me with so much joy. The lightness and effortlessnes of it is just truly amazing. I don't know how many times I have been down, only to be brought back up by watching you skate. You possess a special gift to make people happy.

I look forward to seeing all of your future programs. Take care of yourself!

Hi, Michelle!
I fell in love with you and your skating when you skated at the '94 World's. I watched as you floated over the ice with your ponytail flying in the wind-the joy that you felt as you skated was seen in the smile on your face.
You have often brought me tears with the emotion that you exude as you skate.
People at home call me with congratulations when they hear that you won a competition, because I talk about you as if I really "know" you.
My students hear your name throughout the year because I consider you THE best role model for our youth today.
You have been an inspiration to me as well. I have learned to endure even when the odds were against me...and to celebrate the victory even if I wasn't on top.
My prayer for you is to have an enjoyable tour with COI, and a productive summer where you do everything that you want to do to prepare for Salt Lake City.
Please know that there are more people than you will ever know that agree with Frank...you are the greatest skater in the world.
Your fans love you-no matter what!!!
Thank you for all the joy that you have given to us...just for being you.
Good luck in Salt Lake City!!!
Even though we can't be with you in person...we will be all screaming in our living rooms!!!
Tell Frank "Hi". We love the way he loves and respects you.

Forever for Michelle

Dear Michelle,

Congratulations on not only your fouth world title, but for an extrodinary skate! It was simply amazing. No matter what the critics say, you remain strong and that is what I admire most. They said you were down and out and you proved them wrong... not once, but two times in row! In the process, you broke your so called "even year jinx" and was able to successfully defend your title which is a rarity in itself. You are not just a legend in the making, you are a legend and I have the utmost faith that you will make the United States of America oh so proud in Salt Lake! I hope you have a nice and relaxing off season... you really deserve it!

Most heartfelt congratulations on your fourth World Title! Your programs this year were absolutely magnificent, and you again raised the standard for your sport.

As you might be able to tell from these messages, your fans form a very diverse group. I often mention you to my students when I talk to them about grace, hard work, and excelling under pressure. You are the best example of these virtues that I have ever encountered.

Thank you for sharing your goodness and wisdom with the world. We all wish you fun and success throughout the coming year.

Congratulations on a well deserved 4th World title! ;)

I just wanted to also let you know what a huge inspiration you are to fellow skaters of all ages and levels. I have recently gotten back on the ice again after a tough delivery and c-section 7 weeks ago, and it's been hard to get myself going and deal with all the adaptations I need to make in my skating because of the pregnancy/delivery. Seeing your inspired skating at Worlds has really helped to motivate me to keep trying to do the best I can and be patient with myself and my skating. As a result I am working harder than ever to get my skating back up to par to attend one of the adult USFSA events at my State Games in May, only 3 months after having baby Sam.

Congratulations again and thank you for being such an inspiration to us all!

Dear Michelle,
I want to thank you for giving all of us, who love figure skating, so many exquisite and memorable performances. You are not only the best figure skater competing now, but the greatest figure skater of all time. Remember that, when you skate at the Olympics. Just treasure the moment, don't hold back and let the joy show through. The rest will follow. Give my best regards to your wonderful family, Frank Carroll and Lori Nichols. You couldn't have a better family, coach or choreographer.

Michelle,

I've spent most of the last year anticipating my trip to Vancouver to watch you win what I knew would be your 4th World Title. I was not disappointed!! Moreover, I was overwhelmed by the whole experience and absolutely mesmermized watching you skate. You have given such a gift to all of us, not only in your wonderful skating, but also in who you are and how you express yourself. I respect you for the way you stick to your values, whether its about your programs (skating the complete package), your education (bettering yourself & seeking balance in your life) or your goals (keeping options other than skating available for you.)

Congratulations on all your accomplishments, and especially on your 4th World Championship, which is well-deserved. You will be MY favorite going into SLC and I hope it all turns out the way you want it to.

Dearest Michelle,

Congratulations this season! You won your fifth National title and your fourth World title, improving your technical difficulty the whole way. All of us fans are very proud of you. You are truly the full package, and you have been demonstrating that all season.

I wish you the best of luck in the upcoming Olympic year. I hope that you can defeat your competition with grace and prove to the world that you have what it takes to wear an Olympic gold medal.

And of course, I cannot write you a note without mentioning a certain musical selection that I would love to see you skate to. The soundtrack to the movie "The Joy Luck Club" is full of beautiful music that I can imagine you using your magic to interpret on the ice. The moods range from sweet to tense, all the time incorporating sounds from authentic Chinese instruments. Please consider this for one of your future programs.

Once again, I wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors,

Dear Michelle,
This has been a really enjoyable skating season for us fans! We got to see two new short programs, two new long programs, a new exhibition, and 503,394 new costumes! (Just teasing!) :p I love what you have done this season. It's absolutely spectacular. I am soooo proud of your three wonderful performances at Worlds. I was watching the Qualifying Round on iskater.com practically biting my nails after reading that your boot broke. Then you went on to deliver your best skate of the season. The Short Program was dazzling and the Long Program was just magical. I hope you bottle up that determination, gutsiness and undaunted courage from this year's Worlds and unleash it at the Olympics next year. I and the rest of your fans are behind you 100%! Good luck and I can't wait to see you at New Jersey COI! :) :)

You're so darn good! I'm in awe of how brilliantly you skated in Vancouver; I loved both of your programs, and I can't wait to see what you have in store for next year. With your mind-blowing ability to flourish under pressure, you will, I know, stay strong and proud and powerful not only in the next tension-drenched year, but long after you've hung up your skates.

You have so many wonderful, faithful fans, and you deserve all of their adulation.

Go get 'em, Michelle, you woman!

From Salome to 4-time World Champion I have watched you grow through skating's challenging and demanding lifestyle. You truly rise above the physical talent and create an artform all your own on the ice, your canvas. You have inspired me to reach deep inside and to give from my soul. And at such a young age your maturity on ice is astounding. Thanks for continuing on and growing in ways that amaze every fan. You are truly a joy to watch as you grace the ice. (Well sometimes it's quite stressful watching you live :) I love watching you on tape :)

The best to you as you continue your career. I respect your priorites and wish you success in performing up to your fullest potential. I am rooting for you all the way to 2010 if that's where you are going! You are like no other! I love that you are so real, so polite to your fans, so grounded despite your growing "fame". Hats off to you and your parents.

Have a great spring and summer!

Dear Michelle,

Congratulations on winning your 4th World title!! I am so very proud and awed by your three flawless performances in Vancouver. When I saw your qualifying round freeskate after your boot problem, I was SO impressed, and it was even more exciting to watch you do it a second time for the free program! :) Just when we think you have shown us perfection, you show us how you CAN grow and get better year after year.

I want to wish you the very best of luck next season and going to the 2002 Olympic Games. No matter what the outcome, you will definitely go down in history as one of the finest legends not only in the sport of figure skating but also as a role model for sportsmanship and kindness. Best wishes for more health, happiness, and good luck in the coming year!!

Thank you for sharing your gift with us.

Dear Michelle,
I'm a singles and a synchro skater and I just was previleged enough to compete in synchro nationals. We skated very well, and what this has to do with you is that when I watched you skated your long at worlds, I was amazed that you could react exactly the same way I did. That you could be just as excited at being at worlds and skating wonderfully for the umpteenth time as I could for skating my best at my first ever national competition. I guess that feeling never changes.
I also wanted to let you know how nervous I was watching you skate. At some point I relized that you looked much more calm and in control than I felt, so that you would be ok.
You really inspire me to go out and skate my best when I skate, and I hope someday I could even be somewhere close to being as great a skater as you are.
Congratulations again! Good Luck next year!

I never admired a person until I saw you in 1995. My sister was undergoing a major operation and I was waiting for her in her hospital room...silent...contemplating. I scan the channel and got to see the LP of 1995 worlds. And a teenage girl caught my attention and I realize...this girl is good. I remeber her name and it was Michelle. Three years had past and here I was scanning channels...it's good that we have a cable in our house - considering I am living in a third class nation, the Philippines. I was scanning the channel and I seen a beautiful girl dress in powder blue in the middle of the ice rink and starting to skate. Her music was heavenly.... As she skated to the music and glide as an Ice Princess. I remember a commentator saying in the end part of the skate "WHAT A JOY!" Then I realized is this the girl I admired three years ago...she looked familiar. When the marks came out...Oh my God...It is Michelle...Michelle Kwan. From then on, my life change. I developed this major admiration on Figure skaters. thanks to you MK. You had given us JOY.. I thankr God for loving us. He shared your talent to us. God loves us. Once again, I thank you MK. Though I cannot watch your competitions here in Manila because FS events are not usually shown here. How I wish I can see all of your skates on tapes.... But I cannot find anything here not even a pic. I am thankful there's this information revolution that paved way for the Internet.

Dear Michelle,

You know, this semester's been a crazy one for me, full of ups and downs, I'm really far away from home, etc, etc. I'm actually studying in Paris, and unfortunately I haven't gotten much of a chance to watch skating as much as I do at home. However, when I discovered that almost every single event at Worlds was going to be broadcast *live*, I couldn't miss an opportunity like that. My school actually planned a free trip to Burgundy that weekend, and when I passed up on it, all my friends were calling me crazy. But I am so glad I got to stay up until five or six in the morning each night and watch you skate your way to your fourth World Title!! You brought such an incredible amount of joy to my life that weekend, and every midterm-filled day since. I am so proud of you, Michelle! You keep proving everybody wrong, showing the world that you are not only the champion athletically and artistically, but also one of the heart. I cannot wait to see what you have in store for us next year. Please, always continue to be just who you are, have faith in yourself, and you will fly!

Michelle, Congratulations on your 4th Worlds title! I'm so glad that the internet is around at this time. I couldn't wait for the results of the qualifying round, short or long programs this year. I had to be on the internet to get a blow by blow commentary from Paul Martini. Boy, was I praying hard for you when he said there was something wrong with the heel of your boots. I think things happen for a reason, and I believe that you were scheduled to skate 6th in that group of the qualifying round. I hate to think of what would have happened otherwise! God was really watching out for you during this whole competition. Thank God for your father too! I'm so glad that he has learned over the years to fix your boots for you and was able to repair them in time for your skate. Tell him thanks from me!

God bless you and your family!

Dear Michelle,

Congratulations on winning your 4th World Title!!!

Your grace on the ice, and graciousness off the ice is truly rare, and very special.

As actors, my mother and I are aware how hard it is going out in front of an audience with so many intangible things that make a performance what it is.
However, you always are so far above the field, it is magical to see.
Your attention to detail, such as the pose with your arm crooked above your head in the "East of Eden" program, that was just like the Julie Harris pose with James Dean in the "East of Eden" movie....that was incredible!!
I've been following your skating since 1994, and I am continuously amazed and inspired by you.
With all my best wishes, and thank you for your wonderful skating, and heart.

Love,

Michelle,

Thank you so much for staying in the eligible ranks of figure skating! Your fierce competitiveness, amazing athletic ability, and natural grace on the ice have provided inspiration for your fans, a role model for young athletes, and deservedly, a 4th world title for you and your "team."

I couldn't possibly add up the total amount of happiness and delight that has been brought to my life through watching your skating, but believe me, it's A LOT! Multiply that by your thousands of fans, and you have already given this world much more than could be expected of any one person. As you continue your skating career, please remember the amazing feat of what you have accomplished thus far, and know that your fans will appreciate you and love you no matter what the future holds!

No other skater's skating has ever truly touched my heart as yours does, and so for that reason I will be watching the upcoming skating season with great anticipation, nervousness, and hope (thank goodness your nerves are so much better than mine...I don't know how you do it!).

One of the best things is being able to share in this hope with your many other fans. The incredible joy that you bring to us has nothing to do with the numerous medals, titles, and competitions that you have won; rather, it has everything to do with the way you skate, the way you compete, and the way that you make the best of every situation that you find yourself in. Your bright talent on the ice has already been proven time and time again. As long as you continue to find the challenge of skating enjoyable, we will continue to enjoy watching you face that challenge.

With much love,

Dearest Michelle,

First and foremost, congratulations! It was absolutely breathtaking to watch you "let go" and skate so free towards a well deserved fourth world title.

When I first found out that Heather would be able to pass messages to you at COI, I was extremely excited. As I began to think about the task of succinctly summing up everything I have wanted to tell you, I realized that such a task would be almost daunting. So I took awhile to think about things and I'll try my best! :) Your perseverance, hard work and dedication are a breath of fresh air. As a fellow university student, I fully appreciate and admire your ability to excel not only in academics and as an elite athelete, but most importantly as a person who lives life to the fullest. Thank you for all the moments of joy you have given me. I know that down the road when I look back, I'll always remember those times I was staying up late trying to finish an assignment while watching a fuzzy clip of you skating on my computer. Being the same age as well, it has been cool to grow up with you, as you continually learn and grow in all aspects of your life. You have a beautiful perspective on life, don't lose that.

With each performance you give, I feel that I am able to get another glimpse of the amazing person you are. Congratulations again on your fourth world title. Have an awesome summer and all the best in the upcoming year. I know that you will handle the challenges ahead with as much grace and determination that you have shown us in the past.

The scene lies starkly before us, like a tableau cast in relief on some ancient Grecian vase.
A hunting scene, or perhaps a warrior princess in quest of her foes.
The huntress, sister of Diana, hurls herself into the pursuit, leaping from peak to peak.
Traps lie at every turn. One slip, beneath lie hungry
Jackals lusting to tear her flesh and gnaw upon her bones.

What joy she feels from the chase!
Springing, twirling, she laughs at the jackals.
From her bow the arrows fly true toward her sworn enemies:
Dishonesty, Ugliness, and Hypocrisy.

The brief, simple tunic of a huntress adorns her; it hides not her beauty!
Warrior eyes gaze upon her--admiration swelling.

Many times has the course been run; some think the path grows stale.
Does she begin to question herself? How hard it becomes to lace one's boots!
Heroes are not welcomed in our soulless age.
The cross-eyed cynic squints at the butterfly perched upon his nose and brushes it away.

Some few yet watch and turn their yearning eyes toward the view.
They stare transfixed as it metamorphoses into a winter scene,
Engraved on the cold blade of a samurai warrior!
Gliding on the power of her singing steel blades,
The warrior princess springs from icy rock to frozen pond.

She marches not to common song that others endlessly chant.
Instead sweet celestial strains seldom heard accompany her, befitting her noble blood.
Descendant of Zeus, Mulan's daughter, her strength stems from all human culture.

Her steel-cold will, sharp as a razor, where does it come from?
From true techniques, long taught her by a greying wizard!
A magic talisman about her neck, she relentlessly maintains the pursuit.
Her laughing medicine casts mighty spells!

Beneath an icy bridge, trolls lie in wait,
Gibing and gibbering their spiteful hate in the gloomy dark.
Spinning on her pure white boots, the warrior maiden daintily tosses her darts
Piercing their stunted hearts!

The course has been run with abandon, all foes vanquished.
A savage world; her inner peace becalms it.
Warriors, sing the song of the Mighty Kwan!
Let it reverberate amongst dying hearth fires till time comes to an end.

Michelle,

First, congratulations on your forth World title. Your programs were beautifully and the win was well disserved.

I would just like to thank you for all that you have done for me. You grace and sportsmanship has taught me so much. I now understand that the work put into something is worth more then the out come. Thank you for the wonderful programs you produce year after year that have left me with a smile on my face and tears in my eyes. Good luck next year!

Dear Michelle,

Congratulations on your fourth world title!! I was there in Vancouver, holding my breath for you throughout each of your programs. Before the qualifying, I prayed that there was nothing wrong, that you were alright and would be able to skate. Before the short program, I waited breathlessly for the first notes of East of Eden, and burst into tears as you soared through the beautiful change edge spiral. Before the long program, I stood with my friends and helped wave the UNDAUNTED COURAGE banner, hoping to cheer you on and encourage you. Clasping my friend's hand as you skated, my only wish was that you would let go and fly, and skate so that you could be proud. As you finished, I jumped to my feet, cheering excitedly. And then, while you stood atop the podium, your gold medal around your neck, watching the American flag rise, I stood proudly and sang the Star Spangled Banner with you.

You granted me an unforgettable experience this March. Thank you so much, and the best of luck to you in all your future endeavors!!

With love,
Amelia

Dear Michelle: Your "Victory in Vancouver" was truly unforgettable. You skated "Song of the Black Swan" with such purity, purpose, and passion that I couldn't quite believe what I was seeing. When you finished your spectacular performance, I joined the other 17,000+ skating fans in a thunderous standing ovation that reverberated through the GM Place. At that moment, I felt it wouldn't matter what your scores were or where you finished, because I had just witnessed such a magical and thrilling four minutes and saw the joy on your face when you knew you had skated the very best you could have done that night. The fact that you did, indeed, win your fourth World Championship gold medal made it even more memorable for me and for the thousands of fans who were wishing you the best that night. Thank you, Michelle, for the many wonderful performances you have given us over the years. Thank you for still loving skating so much that you can put in the many long hours of practice needed to polish your technique so that it can invisibly blend with you, the skater, allowing you to skate through the music with an open heart and share your joy as you fly across the ice. Best wishes and blessings always, Skatingfan5

I'm closing this thread because the deadline is already WAY past, and I don't want someone to think their message got in when it really didn't. Now, I just have to figure out what I'm going to say...
