that.... however, I did drive out to the HealthSouth Training Center in
El Segundo today to deliver the earrings.
The rink was really cool! I'm excited that now when I read about
Michelle's trianing with Frank I can actually picture it in my mind
perfectly. ;) When we got there (I dragged my sister with me) Frank
was in the middle of coaching some guy on one rink, and there were some
young ladies skaters being coached on the 2nd rink. The place was
pretty empty. We watched for a quite a while, and then I went into the
front office to find out if I might be able to talk to Frank and give
him the gift to give to Michelle. The people in the front office were
really nice, and they told me that Frank would have a 5 minute break in
about 10-15 minutes. They also told me that Michelle herself was
supposed to be there! She was supposed to be back (from where I don't
know, but that's what she said) the day before, but she hadn't shown up
yet. Needless to say, I was suddenly on alert to the possibility of
Michelle walking in the door any minute!!! So, I went back down to the
ice level and I waited and watched some more, and sure enough, Frank
exitted the ice in about 15 minutes. He walked right by me, so I
started to say that the people in the front office had said he might
have a quick break to talk to me, but he apologized and said he had to
be on the 2nd rink right away for his next session. He said he'd be
done in an hour. So, my sister and I decided to go to a nearby mall to
kill time (and take care of a few errands). When we got back to the
training center, Frank was still on the ice. There were a lot more
people there this time (though it still wasn't very crowded). We
watched and waited for another half hour, but it didn't look like he'd
be coming off the ice any time soon and we needed to get home. I was a
little disappointed that he wasn't able to come talk to me for a minute
(I think he saw me standing there, but there was nothing he could do),
but I totally understood because obviously Frank's coaching must come
first (that man is such a hard worker -- it was really neat to watch him
in action!).
At that point I went back to the front office and chatted again with the
very nice ladies in there. They totally understood my dilemma about
leaving the gift there, but they assured me that it would be locked in
the safe and that they would get it to Michelle ASAP. I got their
names & number and gave them my contact info to let me know when
Michelle got the gift. I watched them lock the gift bag up in the
safe, and that was that. Hopefully Michelle will be there tomorrow or
Monday (I'm pretty sure she's scheduled to be there next week and then
they said she'll be in Toronto for something -- is that where she works
with Lori???). Anyway, it would have been cool to give the earrings
to Michelle or Frank personally, but I'm very confident that they will
get to her safe and sound, so that's all that matters. I think this was
much better than mailing them somewhere -- that would have made me even
more nervous. I don't know if they'll call before I'm away
but if they do I'll let you know!!!

p.s. The gift looked really nice -- I tied the jewelry box with a gold
ribbon and I put it in a really pretty red gift bag. I wrote a card to
Michelle from everyone on MKF, and included the list of things everyone
came up with as to why we picked rubies. We took a few pictures of
everything and I xeroxed the card, so I will post the pix and the exact
text of the card once I have more time!!!

Now, I just thought I'd add a few things. They said that Michelle was supposed to be back, but Jenny didn't know from where. I wrote a little about it on my site, but Michelle was on (a well deserved) vacation in Mexico. Guess she's back now. :)
Also, yes, I'm pretty sure Toronto is where Michelle meets up with Lori. So she's going to be working on her new programs in the next few weeks. :)
