As fans of Michelle Kwan and fans of skating in general we have all seen the unfair judging practices that take place daily in figure skating around the world. From holding down scores, to politics, political loyalty, obvious cheating, and the unfair practices of letting crooked judges to continue to work; its a dirty realty in the sport that must be stopped.
Recently at the 2002 world championship an ice dancing couple submitted a valid protest that was denied because now the eyes of the world are no longer on figure skating (as at the Olympics) the ISU believe its back to business as usual.
Im not sure if any of you know this but the changes that the ISU have proposed so far make things worst and are not really changes at all but the same old system under the cover of news rules.
FOR EXAMPLE
They ( the ISU) want to keep judges working for there current federations! Which causes judges to vote for there country or region! We need independent judges who are trained and paid for not by their country but by independent governing body!
The want to double the amount of judges and toss out seven of the 14 scores after the event. Well, if we still have block voting what will this fix!
AND THE most horrible change would be that we no longer see the countries listed next to there respective scores! This would allow countries to do whatever they wish without answering to anyone! If it wasn't for us (the public) just imagine how things would have been at the Olympics!
Well, we must put a stop this and so I ask you here to day, NO I BEG you please write the ISU at the following E mail and let them know we want change. Below is their address, E mail, and telephone number! It will only take a few moments to express your opinion and who knows we may help your daughter, son, brother or sister, friend, or idol be the next Olympic medalist when they would have never had a chance before!
