I would like to see us do a medal, larger rather than smaller (3"). Someone earlier brought up the idea of crystal and platinum. Crystal signifying the Ice. This would keep the cost down. Maybe a round crystal with about 3/4 of its edge in platinum almost like a crescent moon. I would LOVE to see her falling leaf engraved on the crystal or whatever!.

I think motherlode has a great idea! I just looooved the Albertville medals with the Lalique crystal in the middle--they were the most beautiful Olympic medals I've ever seen! I also think it would help keep the cost down.

Kwanboy had an interesting idea in the other thread... a solid gold heart suspended in the center of the crystal (or quartz). Don't know how easy that would be to make, but it sounds stunning...

The heart would both make the medal unique, and would also add special significance, especially if the inscription included something along the lines of earlier suggestions, such as "Champion of our Hearts", or "Skating From the Heart"...

or maybe... "Forever Our Champion, Keeper of Our Hearts"
