View Full Version : Possible Gift Idea for Michelle....

The idea just dawned on me while i was watching David Letterman (don't ask me why)..... please tell me if someone has already done this.
Michelle has numerous medals for her unprecidated number of accomplishments. As many medals as she has, she doesn't have one from her fans that shows her just how special she is. Well I was thinking maybe we could award Michelle with a medal of our own. There is a little shop near my place that makes medals and we could write whatever we want on it. The medal would be from her fans for being an incredible role model, a kind caring and compassionate person, or for just being Michelle!
The medal could say something like (generic examples):
Forever A Championm, The People's Champion, Champion of Our Hearts etc.... feel free to suggest some yourselves
what do you guys think? it won't be hard nor will it be expensive but it will truly be meaningful.

Yes, I do like the idea- we have to pick a good thing to say on it though, so it doesn't sound like some over-used expression or something corny. At the moment I'm not feeling very creative, but if we really do this, I'll put on my thinking cap. :)

annabelle, that's a great idea! i'm not too keen on The People's Champion though...a little too political. But I totally get where you're coming from with that one. This is going to be fun!

I love this idea. Maybe we could put, "Our Olympic Champion" or something like that. I don't know but I believe Karen told Michelle "You'll always be my Olympic Champion." :)

After Nagano, my friends made me a card (oh the crying they could not stand ;) )and they wrote "Michelle will always be the Olympic Champion in our hearts"! I love the medal idea, and I also like "Our Olympic Champion" :) But I'm also kind of thinking of something down-to-earth. Anyway, that's a great idea!

BUT....I don't think we should put Our "Olympic" Champion. Even though I think she is in my heart, I don't think it's a good thing to remind her two or three years later that she is *not* the official Olympic champion. To make matters worse, I can't think of exactly what to put, but I still love the idea!
This is only my very humble opinion. What does everyone else think?

I agree with Sharon about avoiding the Olympic theme. I think something to do with how special she has been to her fans and for the sport is more appropiate than any one event.

Well I think the Olympic term is true to many of our hearts, and that is why I like it. However, I also did express that I like something *down-to-earth*, which does reflect that putting Olympic champ would not be realistic (yet, I hope!). Keep thinking I guess.......

I think a medal from Michelle's fans is a great idea. I remember someone called Michelle the "Skater of the decade" because of all the gold and silver medals that she has won in her skating career in the 1990's. How about, "For her many accomplishments, MKF fans award Michelle Kwan this medal as, Skater of the decade-1990's" or "Michelle Kwan, Gold Medal winner of MKF fans hearts"?

I had already responded to your suggestion and do not know if I deleted the message or sent it. If I did than this is new if not than you will be getting this message twice. One of my students called me today and mentioned that we should give Michelle a People's gold medal award. I contacted an artist that designs jewelry to see what the cost would be. I just wanted to get an idea for cost, logistics, etc. I want to find out if it is workable. If someone is working on a project such as this than I want to participate or donate money. If not than I would like to follow through, work out some logistics and see what we can do. Is it allowed to share e-mail address with those that are interested or is that against forum policy? I am somewhat new to forums so not sure. I do know that this is a very positive action and one that would let Michelle know how much her fans love and admire her. If someone else has already taken action than please let me know. By the way I like the fact that people on this forum are very courteous and polite. Their love for Michelle is very evident.

titled "Lets do something for Michelle"-- the idea of a medal has been brought up already and there are lots of pages of responses. It probably will need to be transferred to "Projects" The topic over there needs your input.

Perhaps it is too long, but there is so much to say. It could read on the back something like this:
Michelle Kwan, the culmination of grace and athleticism on ice. We love you, not only because you are the best, but because of who you are. We may not know you personally, but we all feel we do. It is that undescribable something that only few people possess, you reach us in ways no others do. Continue with your greatness, we will be waiting.

I started thinking this yesterday. And wondering where something like that could be done.
So, then are we still with this?? Avoiding any "Olympic" term is good. And Susana's comment is great. I'll go to bed and think over any titles for Michelle to suggest.
We gonna do it or what?
