How much do you want to put into the medal project? Help the organizers get a general idea of how much money will be available for the medal.

At this point, if the voters so far (59) contribute this much at least, it's $1118. Not bad, considering there are still about 150 people who wanted to help in the original thread! Thanks for posting this Shallah!!

We aren't ready to send money just yet, but I appreciate the enthusiasm!! Before people send money, we need to finalize everything and get a final cost for construction. This poll is just to get an idea of how much money we can expect, and to keep everybody motivated!

February 26th, 2002, 08:41 PM
before we finalize the medal size and whether the core will be gold or silver coated with platinum. If you are not sure how much you can and want to give vote for the smallest amount you are *sure* you can contibute so we don't over estimate our resources.

Folks i am happy to contribute $1,000 ... this is a measure of my esteem for Michelle Kwan ... I want her to know how much I care ... but I do NOT need her to know how much I contributed ...
I also wish to acknowledge that a gift of $1 is as meaningful for those who can only contribute $1 because of life circumstances -- I have been there, too ... I truly understand ... but life is starting to be very good for me, so I want to share what it is I can ... I don't want to miss this opportuity to do so ... please understand my motivation ... I am sure many others in the $50 or more camp will meet or exceed my contribution and I welcome that ... all for Michelle Kwan ... a chance for all of us to express the depth of our appreciation for all of her hard work, for her character, and for the excellence she represents ... she is truly America's role model and I truly love that ... Thank you, Michelle ... Thankyouveryverymuch!!!!!!

$50.00 for me.
skatingfan5
February 27th, 2002, 07:04 AM
and so much money pledged already! By my last count (with 110+ people voting), there was almost $3000. And that is just assuming $50 from the contributors in the last bracket. It is also heartening to see from the other poll that a large majority favor donating to a charitable cause, in addition to the medal for Michelle. I think this will mean a lot to her. When I indicated how much $$ I would be willing to contribute, I thought it was just for the medal; now that it seems likely that we will also be making a donation to a charity, I will be giving much more.

February 27th, 2002, 09:19 AM
I second everything barbnf said. I already voted for $50+ but I'm pledging in $500 if we can actually get this together. I don't want to be acknowledge for the amount I'm giving either and I prefer to be anonymous among all the many fans donating, and we need all the $1 or $5 donors just as much! I or anyone here alone cannot make this happen. This will only happen with the efforts of all of us.
Thanks.

The totals are $3113 so far.....
And once again, that's if the $50 and over donations are JUST $50......so it's for sure over $3113 at this point. :) And that is with 153 poster pledgin money......
Thanks everyone.....keep responding...

...LOL on the 50-cent check idea!!! I have so many extra checks, I should just write a whole bunch of those and send them in...:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol
Seriously, I'll give as much money as I can. I voted in one of the lower categories, but that's because I'm 20 years old and living on my own trying to earn college money. I just wanted to make sure I could give what I pledged for. If circumstances allow, I will give more, since apparently my heart is bigger than my wallet (which isn't necessarily saying a whole lot, but I LOVE Michelle and this whole project idea!). Cheers to everyone -- you are some of the most generous and caring people I've ever met! :) :) :)

I just want to reiterate that every bit counts. If you would like to contribute, but aren't able to contribute $$ - then please consider giving ideas and/or time.
I love that so many people are willing to open their wallets, along with their hearts. Let us all remember, that some people have deeper wallets. Recently (in the past 5 months), elementary students gathered pennies for the victims of the September 11th tragedy. Those pennies added up to very real amounts, and have brought joy and laughter to those that never thought to smile again. Once again, every cent counts.

if you cannot afford it. As much as I would love to I am unable to make a large one myself. do what you can, the idea here is for lots of small donations from many fans adding up to buy one big gift for Michelle. Sometime later if you are doing better and wish to honor Michelle make a donation to CMN in Michelle's honor, donate to your favorite charity or to the USFSA Memorial Fund (which helps poor skaters keep going) again saying it is in her honor. Many charities will notify people when gifts are made in their honor :-) Do what you comfortably can. I am sure Michelle would not like her fans going into debt for this.

Sorry it took so long for me to vote. This is the first day that this board has loaded in a decent time since the Olympics.
Hey, DO NOT FEEL BADLY if you can not donate as much as the next poster!!! Every bit counts! :) No one needs to know how much anyone donated.

I think this is a great idea. I read that Russia is presenting Irina a special gold medal. I think it is great that michelle's FANS are probably giving her a platinum. Oh, i didnt vote in that post, but i would say platinum would be best!

Again, like some have said before me and I've said in other threads, do not feel badly if you can not give a big donation- like Shallah said, the idea is for a bunch of smaller donations that really add up- and they do! :)

I have been a fan of Michelle's since she was 13 years old. She is a like a daughter to me.
I have watched her grown and mature into a lovely young woman. It broke my heart to see
her lose again. I never prayed so hard to God to let her win. I want to contribute. Please let
me know where to send my check.

Hello all. I have been to this site many times (best MK site..so much info) and I finally have to write something. YES YES I will chip in $25 needed for my Michelle. She is like a daughter to me I have watched her for 10 years and am so proud of her. I have often fought with myself on the best skate Michelle has ever performed and after seeing her skate to Fields of Gold at the exb. I now know. That skate was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. I was in such shock after the long program I could not cry and Michelle help me thru that and I cried like a baby as she skated to FOG. She is the Greatest and will always be!
By the way after that skate she made Hughs look like Reba McEntire in Drag!
