I've unstuck the other donation topics, moved them to MK Projects, and closed them (so people wouldn't reply to them, which would be confusing.)

BTW, Anna, did you get my last e-mail?

Whoa! So now the donation to Make a Wish (that's the charity we chose, isn't it?) will be larger than the actual cost of the medal! Eeeek! I can't wait to see how this turns out! BTW, when does voting start for the medal design?

I'm very happy about this! When this all began, I don't think any of us would have thought that we would be raising this amount of money for this project.

Just amazing! :)

I didn't think that we had reached a final decision on what charity (or charities) we were going to contribute the "excess" money raised for this project. One that I remembered being at the top of the list of those mentioned was the Children's Miracle Network -- which is different from "Make a Wish Foundation". I believe Michelle is still involved in CMN -- at least she was as of last year. Another idea discussed was to give at least some of the money to the USFSA, towards their Memorial Fund, which supports skaters with training funds (they give $$'s to all levels of skaters -- financial need is the only criteria). I believe early in her career, Michelle was a recipient of these funds. I'll have to go back and check the most recent additions to the project folder, but I don't think there was ever a "vote" or poll on what particular charity to donate towards.

BTW, even if we choose the "highest end" medal route (with a fully-sculpted image on both sides), the total costs should be no more than $3,500 at the highest. If that is the case, then we have nearly twice the cost of the medal that can be donated to the charity -- and if we reach $10,000 (which I'm sure that we will) and the cost of the medal is more moderate ($2,500), then the ratio of $$ for charity:medal could be around 3:1. Very good, indeed!

How inspiring! I, personally, would like to see donations to both the skating fund and the CMN. Both foundations are dear to my heart.

I am overwhelmed at the love shown by these donations. I am in awe of just how well hundreds of people have worked together in the effort to make this project a reality. I am totally convinced that God has made this possible.

Thank you, Lord, for your divine faithfulness. And thank you for allowing us to be witness to Your goodness and eternal beauty in Michelle Kwan.

Is it possible that we let Michelle decide which charity the money would go to? I'm sure at some point we'll have to contact her about the medal presentation, and we can let her decide? Just a thought.

I like your idea ProbativeV. We raised the money for Michelle so she could decide which charities/charity to give the money from her fans. It would give it more impact I think.

Hey can I ask a really really supid question. I have been away from the forum for a while...and I just really got back on with enought time to really take a look around and see what has been going on. I would like to donate money . So I can just write a check to:
Anna Kanauka
P.O. Box 10784
Marina del Rey, CA 90295
right? What is everyone basically donating? I can't donate all that much though, cause i'm a poor college student. Sorry but pretty much what are the donations looking like, so i can get an idea on how much i should make a check out to...thanks!!!!

Every bit counts! There have reportedly been some very large donations, and there have been some of $5, I believe.

Even if you can only send $1, that is $1 more than is currently being given to whatever charity this money will go to - and $1 more to help someone in need.

I believe the amounts have been all over the spectrum, so I urge everyone to give as their hearts and conscience dictate. If you are unable to give financially, please consider donating your thoughts and prayers.

Each person's contribution matters! You DO make a difference!
