Ya'll, let's be proud of what Michelle has accomplished this week. With all the controversies, she was able to comeback and placed 2nd in the LP and was able to capture bronze over all. Again, she has proved that she is still the one to beat in the upcoming season. Michelle is still our US champion, Sasha may have won the qualifying and SP, but Michelle won the LP over her. To Richard Callahan, what do you have against Michelle? Without Michelle in this competition do you think that the Americans will have 2 competitors in the podium? To all Michelle's fans, let's celebrate her victory at world championship this year!!! :TOS

This is the right attitude to have. Yes we can be mad at the bad judging in the SP, but we should also be thrilled that Michelle's LP was a great performance. 6 6.0s sure has a nice ring to it. I think the last time we were all this upset was the '02 Olympics. Michelle came back the next season with such energy and spirit, that it really makes me look forward to next season.

Shizuka and Sasha won their medals and I congratulate them, but after all Michelle went through this week I am so proud of her for having such a great skate and getting her 9th straight medals at worlds.
I loved these quotes from the USFSA article:
The "streaker" proved that one never knows what to expect at a figure skating event. ......What one can expect is the composure and emotional strength from Kwan. ....

I was surprised at how happy I was that Michelle won the bronze. I never thought I'd say that, but this bronze, even with all the drama, left a much better taste in my mouth than Olympic bronze!

Michelle will be back with fire! This experience will motivate her and Rafael in the upcoming season. Can't wait.....

ITA! I had a blast watching Michelle tonight. I went unspoiled for the LP and had no preconceived notions about the outcome. With all the stuff that happened to her in the past week, she just rose to the top like cream. There wasn't a skater out there who even came close to the indelible impression Kwan leaves on the viewer. She is in a league of her own. The medals are trinkets folks. There she is, every year on the podium with the next-latest-phenom. The unsinkable Kween :angel

yes, yes, yes to all. I too was actually happy she won the bronze, go figure.
Some can't keep it together when everything has fallen into place for them. Kwan steers the straight and narrow in the face of fire and storm.

And I know that she will just get out this stronger and more motivated than ever. Even though she did not get gold, she was still golden in how she skated and how she handled herself this whole week. Champion personified!

I totally agree with you all. I was very proud of her today. That bronze was won inspite of a tough QR, poor judging of the SP pogram, and a streaker, as well as those people who were ready to write her off (Richard Callahan you turkey). In fact, I think she is skating very well. I don't think the judges are sending her any messages.

All the Michelle had to deal with this week:
a bad Q. round
a time deduction in the SP
A security breach right before her LP
Considering all she went though I am so gald that she fought her way back to claim her 9th medal at worlds. Remember y'all this is not a very important year for Michelle we still have 2 more years to go untill 2006 if she decides to go.
I am super proud of Michelle to come back in the long and recieve 6.0 in the process. She goes down in history to be given the last 6.0 in compitition. Also Michelle came in 2nd the Long. To me that says alot.
9th meadal at worlds
career medal count
5-gold
3-silver
1-Bronze
A complet set at worlds!!!! Go michlle

Ahhh, nine straight medals at worlds! I was expecting the worst when the little trolls crept over to the "Unspoiled" section earlier today, but Michelle just continues to amaze me competition after competition. Anyone else would have fallen apart over the week she's had, and yet she manages to end it by earning 6.0's for a grand total of 50 in her career! This is definitely a victory for her- not a defeat. You can see it in her face and in her eyes. She's positively glowing :)

I always knew Michelle was a fighter and a real tough cookie to say the least. This week has just justified that all the more. With everything from the short program timing to the streaker, Michelle just let the skating talk. What an incredible skater, competitor, and person she is. She never ceases to amaze me. Congrats Michelle on your 9th World medal!! WOOHOO! And know you have a full set of world medals!
