Are you intersted in having a scrapbook that includes everyone who participated in this project and explains to Michelle why it is we're giving her this medal? It will be a unique "list of participants" to show Michelle how many great fans she has that care about her and want to show her what her career has meant to us all.
Cole50 and I had both thought of doing something like this and we both separately emailed Kwadruple and then Heather to ask about making such a scrapbook, and we now have the okay from Heather to work together to put it together, with all of your help of course.
But we want to make sure that a scrapbook is something everyone is interested in. We have some general ideas and basically what it would entail is everyone who contributes sends us their name, where you're from, small bio, and possibly a small picture and/or note to Michelle if you want and we put it together into a beautiful scrapbook for Michelle. No one has to give any information they don't want to, and people can remain anonymous if they prefer. If everyone agrees to making a scrapbook we will have many more polls and idea threads to get everyone's input about what it should look like. If you have any questions about this, or you have any ideas about what should be included, feel free to email me knight@swns.net and put Michelle Scrapbook in the Subject, or post them here. :)
We will keep this poll open for one week- we'll take the results Monday March 18, and the whole thing will really get going after Worlds. :)

I think that this is a great idea:) , but I think we really should concentrate solely (is this the right word??) on the medal first, then work on the scrapbook/charity/etc...

silliest putty- Thanks for your thoughts. We started this poll to see if this is really something that everyone is intersted in so that we can come up with a draft of what we want the scrapbook to look like. If it turns out that this is something people want then we will get going with it more following Worlds. By then an address for money should be posted and I think that is a big step towards our final goal. Of course there will be other things to discuss and decide about the medal, such as the design, but I think it is appropriate to at least start thinking about the scrapbook too, even if it's only me and Colleen coming up with a draft. We have to come up with exactly what will be included, with everyone's input, and people have to send in their stuff and then it has to be put together, and this will all take time. If we wait to do all this until the medal is completely finished I believe it will hold up the project unneccessarily. And we want to get this to Michelle as soon as we can! :)
Glad you like the idea! :)

Splits: Giving Michelle a scrapbook of some sort with personal messages, pictures, or other things is a great idea. Somewhere in the first medal project thread (I think -- there have been so many threads about this project, that I'm afraid I've lost track of all of them), there was discussion about maybe presenting a "scroll" with names of all the contributors to the project. Someone also mentioned making a specially decorated box for the medal (I'm sorry, but I can't remember who suggested this). I had an idea of including a brief description of the medal (the symbolism of it being platinum, the design, etc.) and the names of all contributors a small book. This book could be one of those "accordian" folded one, and perhaps be the same dimensions as any special presentation box or case (I know that the NWTM sends their medallions out in special presentation cases). It would be sort of like a "glorified gift tag" and could be quite compact (it might even fit inside the box, which could also hold the case provided for the medal. The scrapbook would be something different, as it could/would include much more extensive information and special messages about what Michelle and her skating has meant to us, her many fans. Just one more idea. I'm excited that this project is moving along with such enthusiasm and am looking forward to seeing it progress even more in the coming weeks.

Splits (and Cole50) -
I think this is a GREAT idea!!! Actually, I had sort of the same idea, and posted a topic about it in Chat, not knowing this was here.
If you'd like to read my post when you have a chance, it's here:

I really like the idea of a scrapbook, and think it would be nice to include many of the great messages that have been written to Michelle, either in the scrapbook or maybe along with it. Really glad to hear you're pursuing this, and will be interested to see where you head with it. Will also be glad to help in any way possible.

Springerluv started a thread a while back that is a real gem.
She describes Michelle as "The Flame That won't Extinguish"
IMO that would make a great slogan to use on the cover of a scrapbook or even on the medal itself.

I think a scrapbook idea would be a wonderful gesture.

Just read on another thread that all the medal (and inscription) ideas be presented in the scrapbook. I like that idea. Sort of shows how the medal evolved, how many great ideas there are out there and how much heart went into the production!
