HI Forum,
I can't believe this will be my first time writing to you all. Over the years I have bumped into most of you either on Champions on Ice, Competitions, appearances (even while I'm here in Hong Kong!) I hope you know how much your support has meant to me over the years. I don't have a website of my own because I don't believe I could do a better job than you have! It's funny because you guys are so on top of things with me that I have to go on this website to see "what I'm doing!" Hee hee...
Thank you for the awesome gold ring from Gucci. I love it. I will cherish it forever! I've got to run (dad is waiting for me at the gym)
See you all soon,
love MK

Edited to add: Now that it's confirmed, WOW! We all love you so much!

Michelle I have been a fan since '94 and devoted ever since. I've always been too shy to meet you - after volunteering 8 hour shifts for nearly 6 months at the NY Goodwill Games, I called in sick when it came time to meet you!! But I finally got another chance recently at the Today Show and Toys R Us in NYC. Here are some pictures: www.picturetrail.com/kkola917 (http://www.picturetrail.com/kkola917)

But mostly I wanted to say THANK YOU!!! not only for your skating (which is beautiful beyond compare) but also for the generosity and sincere kindness that you show to everyone, especially your fans! :D You skating seems so joyous from within, and you are able to spread that good feeling to everyone watching!

Good luck this season, and in whatever endeavors you choose carry the undying support of your loving fans!

Love,
Kristen

It sounds like MK....if it is, omg, wow...I'm speechless (good thing I'm typing). If this is your post, then it made my day, and I'm in shock!--on top of the fact that seeing your short program made my week! Well, folks, it's either her or someone who is darn good at impersonating, so in either case, a warm welcome to the forum!

Edited to add: OMG, it really *is* you, I just found out heather confirmed it! It's just that we've had impersonations lately....
I feel so honored you took the time to post here, it means the world to a sea of people. I cannot even begin to say how much you and your skating means to me. Some days when I'm discouraged from practicing music, I watch one of your programs, and then I feel so refreshed and motivated, and ready to face challenges head-on. And just how you're so classy too on top of being the greatest artist ever. It's a bright side of human nature that is rarely seen. I saw you at the interview in NYC, and was too shy to get your autograph, but just from standing some feet away I could feel this warm glow that you radiated. It was a bright spot in my life. Thank you, thank you for taking the time to achknowledge your fans. You're one in 5 billion!

No Michelle, thank you for all you have given to skating fans all over the world. As you can see by this forum, you have touched so many people with your talent and grace. You are an amazing young woman and I hope my 8 year old daughter grows up to be just like you. In fact, I would really like it if you would marry my son (he's good looking and a sweet guy)!!!

Ok, enough of that, really thank you so much!!!

Michelle, thank you so much, Sweet Soul, for blessing us with your wonderful gift of skating and pure graciousness. When I watch you skate, you motivate me to be a better actress. If I could wear the role of a character the way you wear your music on the ice, well, it just doesn't get any better than that. I'm so grateful to you. Thanks again for your joy.

I wish you good luck for the rest of the season and can't wait to hopefully get to meet you at COI again this year. You gave my mom and I the memories of a life time last year when we saw you and meet you afterwards at the Ames show.
Thank you once again you all that you have given to the sport of figure skating.

Thank you for that- It is truly a special thing that you do!!!!

Hey Michelle! This just goes to show what a great person you are, I mean, going out of your way to post on a messageboard devoted to you! Not many skaters would do that, but not many skaters are Michelle Kwan ;)

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*jumps up and does happy dance and screams silently* (sure it's possible):)

I had this whole post all ready for Michelle and then everyone here is so subdued waiting for Heather's approval that I didn't even post it! I guess we've been fooled one too many times.

But from the first line, I just knew it was you. You sound so soft. Thats the best word to explain it. It is you. My heart smiled (I think it smiraled!). It is you. Michelle is here.

Michelle, the one thing I've ever, EVER wanted to tell you was THANK YOU! For so many things I can't even begin...(is this Ican'tremembermyownname amnesia thing for talking to Michelle via the Internet as well?) ;) Yikes, I know I'll be kicking myself later..."Why didn't I tell Michelle..."

And now you come here and bless us all with your presence.

Sweet Michelle, do you know how loved you are? How much happiness you bring? How much pride and JOY our hearts are overflowing with because of wonderful you?!
Congratulations on everything...and look in the mirror and check out that GLOW!

See ya at Worlds (here come the tears)...we'll be the sobbing, screaming ones with the "I Believe" signs.:)

You've inspired me in every way imaginable to be a better, stronger, and more courageous person. I've followed skating since 1976, and I've never been touched by any skater the way you've touched me. Your skating simply reaches our souls. It's difficult to explain, but you heal us with every performance.

Thank you so much, Michelle, for sharing your wonderful gift with us for all these years. And, we only hope and pray we will be privileged to see you for more years to come.

Please remember this always ... it's not the medals you win, it's who you are and what you stand for to all of us here. We admire so much more than your skating; your dedication, your grace, your sportsmanship, your smile, your desire to always try your best, your family values, your wisdom, your courage, your ability to turn lemons into lemonade!! That's how I got my posting name at this forum!

Nothing makes us happier here than to see you happy! Keep that smile and the beautiful glow always, knowing that you have truly enriched so many lives and given us all a little more joy in our lives than we would have had without you.

THANK YOU MICHELLE!!

Wow, what to say. I too was waiting for confirmation, but now that I have it...well I'm speechless, or well...typeless (I don't think that is a word...but oh well lol).

I have had possibly the worst day, and well this just made my day. Perhaps this won't be the worst day of my life anymore.

Michelle, I have no idea what to say. Your spirit, love of skating, attitude, smile, soul, emotions..you know, they are all things that have drawn me to figure skating and to just love watching you. You are a legend!

Over the summer I work with kids at the park. I am a Park ground leader. We take the kids on feild trips and since I love skating, I wanted to share this love with the kids. After our trip to the local rink, they kept begging to go back, and took to calling me Michelle Kwan. I was so touched that they would even consider to call me the name of such a legend, such a wonderful person.

I just wanted to say Thank you for inspiring me to not only figure skate, but to live my life to the fullest, and to be happy and know that what ever happens happens as long as I put my full effort into it, that is what matters. Thank you for everything Michelle! You are the Greatest!

WOW!!! :eek :eek :eek

It's really you, Michelle!!! What a wonderful post. Thanks so much for taking the time. I hope you are enjoying Hong Kong with your family.

And you are absolutely correct. You have bumped into most of us somewhere along the way. I was at 5 of your glorious Champions on Ice performances this past summer plus the 2001 Skating Tribute, the 2002 Nationals, and the 2002 Olympic LP and the incomparable 2002 Olympic Exhibition.

I was lucky enough to get to see you skate to "Fields of Gold" 8 times and I could have watched all 93 performances in all 85 cities if I could have managed it somehow. Unfortunately, I have to keep my day job so that was out of the question. :lol

Since I was so totally lame at expressing my gratitude when you were kind enough to give me your autograph backstage at this year's Champions on Ice in Las Vegas, I am re-posting here something I wrote in another thread.

Below is what I really meant when all I said was, "Thanks, Michelle...."

After reading Mano’s account of how “tongue tied” she was when she met Michelle at Toys R Us in NYC, I was reminded of my own “Kwanstruckness” backstage at the Champions on Ice it Las Vegas. Not that I am a big fan or anything, but that was my 8th viewing of “Fields of Gold.”

As someone who has posted volumes of gushing about Michelle myself, I understand how you can totally freeze when you are faced with the dilemma of how to condense all of your feelings into a few words in a few seconds.. I failed miserably at the COI in Las Vegas when I stood there getting Michelle's autograph.

All I could eek out was, "Thanks, Michelle."

Now, I am sure she walked away thinking I was just being polite. But my THANKS, MICHELLE, was loaded with so much more meaning than that. I could kick myself for being so inarticulate.

What “THANKS, MICHELLE” from Ginny really means is:

”Thanks, Michelle,” for skating so wonderfully that you made me feel as if I were skating too. This inspired me to take up figure skating at the age of 49. I have skated on and off since then and am once again taking lessons and finally feel as if I have my legs under me. My new instructor was teaching me how to do a 3-turn last week. This is something that was a no-brainer when I roller skated at the age of 13. So I am loving this right now and getting lots of great exercise at the age of 52 years young.....

”Thanks, Michelle,” also means, thanks for one of the best weeks of my life from Jan 6, 2002 through Jan. 12, 2002 when you won your 6th National Title. The entire week was a religious experience for me.

The practices alone were priceless. I started the week with a very bad cold and was practically cured by your Short Program practice, where you warmed up by skating your Long Program with no music. Then you immediately followed that with a flawless practice of your Rachmaninov SP, that was as great as your performance in the competition.

Then of course, you had your wonderful Scheherazade Long Program performance, where the audience was on its feet roaring 10 seconds before you finished.

”Thanks, Michelle, also means, thanks for your courageous performance during the Olympic 2002 Long Program and for not giving up. I was there, as the result of a last minute decision to go. Thanks for having the grace to be so respectful to your competitors and not "whine" about the results.

”Thanks, Michelle,” also means, thanks for the most incredible Exhibition skate in the history of the sport with your "Fields of Gold" performance the next night at the Olympic 2002 Exhibition. Had you not skated off the ice, I think the audience would still be there cheering you…..

”Thanks, Michelle,” also means, thanks for still being here and competing again this season. What a wonderful and unexpected gift to your fans.

I could go on and on.

Finally, “Thanks, Michelle" also means, thank you for giving back so much to your fans at Toys R Us in NYC. Thanks, for taking the time to acknowledge them, to look them in the eye, for listening to them and laughing with them, and for appreciating all of these beautiful souls who are your fans and also those who frequently visit the Michelle Kwan Forum.

These individuals are indeed a beautiful reflection of the incredible person that you always have been, and still are!

Cheers & A Big Hug,

I saw you when you made you made an appearance at California Adventures last summer and you made my day. I'm the one who asked you about the coach. You really made me happy when you mailed me an autographed picture of yourself doing a spiral. You an inspiration to many. I'm so very proud of you.

I thank you from the very bottom of my heart for being such a wonderful athlete, but most importantly for being such a gracious person. That is what makes you so enduring. You have made a fan out of me for life.

I wish you much happiness. Please know that you have many fans that are behind and support you.

HI Michelle!!!!! Wow, I'm so excited that you posted on the forum, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! This has been such as awesome day, like everyone before me has said, first the short program, and now you posted!! Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to post here. You are my absolute favorite of all time. The Feeling Begins short is AWESOME!!! And may I mention that the footwork is absolutely BRILLIANT!! I am feeling a bit "typeless" also, as someone else so elopquently put it, lol.
Thank you Michelle for all the joy you have brought into all of our lives, through your skating and the way you handle yourself off the ice too. We support you all the way Michelle, and you have made us SO PROUD I can't even say it. I have been so inspired by you, not to mention the fact that whenever I need to relax I only need to pop in a tape of you skating...Fields of Gold, East of Eden, Hands, Dante's Prayer...anything...thank you so much for everything Michelle! Best of luck for Nationals, we will be behind you all the way, no matter the outcome. Although that short KICKS SOME MAJOR BOOTY if you ask me! And congratulations for making the Grand Prix Final even if you never meant to in the first place...like you said, you just keep getting pulled back in! But we are so happy that you are! OK, I will stop typing now because I am afraid that I would go on blabbering all night! AHHHH! I don't know what to say!

Happy MK Day everyone!!

Love, Kim :)

PS- Thank you so much for skating to Linda Eder, she is now one of my favorite singers and I had never heard of her until you skated to This Time Around. She's my personal pic because I figured since I am posting at the MKF everyone already knows I'm a fan of you so I wanted to show off my adoration of Linda! Anyway, thanks!

I feel like I'm going to cry! Michelle, you'll probably never get to read this post seeing as how many responses your post has elicited and since you're so busy but nevertheless, I have to voice myself in that little chance that maybe you'll come back and check these messages. :) Since I have never been able to personally meet you, this is the closest I've come and for this I am soooo grateful. You have touched each and every one of our hearts deeply due to your resplendent presence. We love you not for your gold medals (although you have tons of them ;) ) but for who you are. You are a beautiful, classy young woman with a lot of dignity and grace. In each obstacle that you are faced with, despite how difficult it may be, you seem to somehow rise above it in an eloquent fashion. Every time that I watch you glide across that ice so effortlessly, you give me such joy that I can't find elsewhere. There is no one as special as you are Michelle and I hope you realize that. No gold medal or anything else for that matter compares to the beautiful and wonderful person that you are. We LOVE you and we will *always* be behind you. You're so awesome Michelle!

With much love.

Thank you so much for posting Michelle! WOW! I'm so glad I signed on just now.

I have so much to thank you for. First thank you for coming to New York last month. I saw you at Rockefeller Center and Toys R Us. Thank you for signing my books and the Champions on Ice photo... that was very kind of you. I'll treasure these forever. I was so nervous when I met you that I messed up what I wanted to say. Let me take this opportunity to say it correctly now:

"Thank you for skating this season. Congratulations on your wins at Skate America and Campbells. Good luck at Nationals and I hope to see you at Champions on Ice next summer"

Thank you for all the joy you bring to us fans. Thank you for being the wonderful, kind, beautiful, humble, athletic, honest and generous person you are! You are truly one of a kind! :) Hope you come and post again!!

Ok I'm gonna go print your post and place it in my scrapbook now! :)

What a day this has been for skating fans and for me especially! First getting to see the short program from Skate America (it was beautiful), next going to Dallas and standing in line for two hours with 350 other skating fans to get my volunteer credentials for Nationals. Then I got home exhausted about 10:00pm and signed on to the forum and found your message to us. I feel very honored that you took the time to visit us and post a message.

My volunteer assignment is at Reunion Arena (the practice arena) in the hospitality suite for chaperones. I know you don't really need a chaperone anymore but I figured your parents would be there to watch you so I will be serving breakfast to your mom or dad or whoever you have designated. I'll take especially good care of them.

I want to say thank you for all the wonderful performances that you've gifted us with over the years, and for inspiring so many people with your work ethic, your gracious behavior in defeat as well as in success, and your sportmanship. I first saw you as a 12 yr old and I knew right then you would be a star. But I had no idea then what a role model you would turn out to be. Thank you so much.

Hi Michelle!! All I can say to you is tha you are simply the best. I have admired you and your skating for almost ten years now. I knew when I first saw you nine years ago at Olympic Summer Festival that you were destined for great things. I am glad I was not wrong. You have exceeded my expectations. You continue to surprise me each and everytime. Good Luck with Nationals and Worlds and Happy Holidays to you and your family.

Thanks, Michelle, for all the joy your skating has given my family over the years. We have watched you grow from a cute little girl to a beautiful woman and a wonderful role model. We cried tears of joy for you when you won all those medals and tears of sadness when you didn't reach your goals in the Olympics. Through it all we said, "What a gal! She is the greatest!!"

Good Luck at Nationals '03. Our family is glad we will be able to continue to enjoy your skating.

Merry Christmas and best wishes to you and your family in the coming year. :)

Hi Michelle!! I cannot believe you posted here! LOL :D Honestly, I am quite shocked at the moment and this coming from a person who regularly posts at another board where both skaters have posted more than some regular members!! LOL :D THANK YOU so much for all the years of phenomenal skating, for your wonderful personality, grace, and sportsmanship, and for being such a great role model for the youth today. I work with the youth group at my church and just seeing & hearing about what all they have to deal with today just makes me even more grateful to you for being who you are and I cannot thank you enough. :) Welcome to the MKF and I can't wait to see you skate again at Nats. Your posting to the MKF just turned one of the not-so-good-days of my life into a fantasitc one! If you have been visiting from time to time, you know how much we love you.

Your courage gives me courage, and that's a magical gift. Someday, when you no longer skate, and wonder what else you might do to knock peoples' socks off (like you should have to after the gift of your skating!), I can really see you as a sports psychologist:) OK, I'll stop:)

Best of luck at the Nationals. I know you are competitive, but you 'win' with me every time you take the ice:) I can't wait to see you skate again!!!

WOW! No, double WOW! I just can't believe it. I really don't know what to say.......here I am, at 12:30 at night, with my alarm set for 5:45 am for an early morning basketball practice, and I can't seem to get myself to bed. This is all too exciting, too wonderful and too awesome! Michelle you are amazing! Time and time again, you have gone out of your way for your fans......you shouldn't be thanking us, we should be thanking you over and over and over again! You are simply incredible.......not only are you a beautiful, magical skater who is a champion a millions of times over, but you are also a great role model off the court (oops, I mean ice.....see how you have inspired me, I strive to hold my head high with a positive attitude off the court just as you have time and time again off the ICE), continually keeping your head high and simply being who you are. Thanks SO MUCH!! You are an inspiration........And like someone said, a lot of popular sports stars wouldn't go out of their way to do this, but then again, there is ONLY one Michelle Kwan!

Thanks a millions times over.

We welcome you with open arms to the forum.......enjoy your time here!!!! And best wishes in EVERYTHING you do. Never stop believing (and I know you won't)!!!!

Hi all, ok so I am an MKF virgin, and I actually hardly ever post on the internet at all, but I just wanted to add a quick message to say "hi"!

Michelle,

I'm sure after all these years you wouldn't remember me, but back when we were both 15 or 16 or so, I skated at Ice Castle for a few summers and roomed with a certain Taiwanese-British-American skater/model great-granddaughter of Chiang Kai-Shek with the initials of ylc, who I believe you know. along with a few other crazed British skatin' ladies. I remember those summers at Ice Castle as some of the most fun ever, getting to meet so many skaters from all over the world, hanging out in california, and so forth. I particularly remember how nice and welcoming you, Karen, and your mom and dad were. when my mom came to visit, your mom and my mom hung out together rinkside! If memory serves correctly, I think we had a near collision once on the ice (long before the days of sasha.. hehe)... thanks for not coming after me with your skate blades after that...

Anyway- I've always respected the hell out of your skating. now I teach some college skating classes on the side, and I always show my kiddies videos of you and G&G to demonstrate the gold standard of skating. I find my job is easier when i can just point to these programs and say, "now boys and girls, this is exactly how it's done."

Thank you for being you, Michelle, for facing all the ups and downs with honesty and never without a smile on your face. Thank you for inspiring in so many of us a love for figure skating and all that is good about figure skating. For giving us all those memorable programs.

We live precariously through you and feel ourselves flying when you skate.

You must have moments when you don't want the attention but you don't show that and in every way move through life with grace and a laid back approachability :)

I'm behind you in whatever you choose to do in your glorious life ahead. Stay true and be yourself!

Love,

I have watched you skate since you were 14. From the first time I saw you perform, I knew you were the special one, destined to greatness. Watching you grow as a person, and a skater, seeing how you handle yourself, the joy on your face as you glide effortlessly across the ice, and the manner in which to represent your self and your sport...only confirms that you really are a Gem of the highest quality.

Your grace and beauty on the ice never fails to catch my breath, bring tears to my eyes, and joy into my heart!

It's quite simple Michelle...and can be said quite simply:

I can't believe you actually posted here, THE Michelle Kwan. Finally, it's about time......hehehe. Just had to let you know that I think you're the best and your post plus the video feed of your short program together has managed to bring a smile to my very, very depressing day...seriously. In fact, before I went online, I actually watched your '98 Olympic long program to unwind. MK, you rock and I can't imagine skating without ya!

OMG! I can't believe it's REALLY you!! I'm at a loss of words :p I just want to say how much I LOVE YOU! You truly are my all time favorite skater and I truly admire everything that you do. You are a wonderful, gracious person. You don't know how many times I've taped your competitions and shows and re-watched and repeated it to the point that one of my tapes actually broke :lol (which most of us fans admit) Best of luck in Nationals and other future competitions. We here at MKF support you in every decision that you make! Thank you for being YOU. I love you and Take good care of yourself. Keep doing what you love, cause we sure do :)

For the first time in the 3 1/2 years of posting here, I am speechless.

I don't think you really could know the effect you have had on so many lives. Because of you, I have met so many wonderful people both on-line and in "real life." More importantly, you have helped me survive some very low points in my life. Long before you ever skated to Lyra Angelica, I thought of you as an angel.Your humility in victory and grace and dignity in defeat have been a constant source of inspiration for me.

Thank you for the wonderful gift that is you.

Love, kwanette

Welcome to the MKF and thank you for posting here. This year has been a very difficult one for me and I repeatedly find myself turning to this forum for a break. Everyone is so nice and supportive. It's like a big family at the dinner table having pleasant discussions.

I have said it before and now I will say it to you...You are a national treasure. You have given me inspiration and courage to face what life throws at me.

Thank you...for everything.

I never wanted to watch figure skating. I started to because someone I cared about was involved in the sport so I decided to give it a try. Along the way to comprehension between a flip and a lutz I saw a little girl with a ponytail who caught my eye. I saw her grow into a woman and claim her first of many World Titles. I saw someone who never made excuses, who never coped out on anything, who always did her best and smiled even if they were through tears of personal disappointment. I saw someone who, on the ice, touched me in ways I didn't think were ever humanly possible. I learned to view figure skating as something much more than just a girly sport. I found a rare piece of art.

I never wanted to watch figure skating but this young woman drew me in. She made me believe in her magic, in her power, in her grace, and in her dignity. And I now, in turn, believe in her.

If someone could take away every title, every skate, every performance you have ever given or earned there would still be a very special and gifted lady here posting before us. She would still have magic, power, grace, and dignity. And we would all love her just the same.

I never wanted to watch figure skating. I still don't watch figure skating. I watch beauty on the ice. I watch love and strength. I watch passion. I watch Michelle Kwan.

I never wanted to watch figure skating. But, even though I do now, I blame it all on you. And I thank you for it each and every day.

Welcome to the forum Michelle. You've made us all VERY proud. I think I speak for everyone here when I say.....

.....WE love YOU!

:) Have a great day!

Hi Michelle,
My name is Joyce-Anne(Liza's daughter.) I wish you could come and visit Nipigon. When you where at Garrett's rink, did you get a present from me? Because I sent you some jewlery.
I know Garrett, but not personally. We chat online and sometimes talk on the phone. You are the best skater in the world! Nipigon has a rink and our coach's name is Stacie Furlonger.Well, anyways you have the best backwards spiral.
My birthday is on the 14th of December and I'll be turning eleven. It's nice of you to stop by.

First things first ... to render kwanette speechless is something I think only one person could do! LOL

I want to express so much of what is in my heart ... thankyou for all the joy and happiness you have brought into my life. You have shown us all the qualities of a true champion. I never had any children of my own, but have 'adopted' you in my heart. What a beautiful, caring young woman you are!

I thank God everyday for the wonderful gifts you have given us ... not just the joy of watching you skate ... but also the new friends I have made because of this forum and you.

Always know, that no matter where you are, or what you are doing ... that you are with us in our hearts ... and I hope you can feel the magnificent love we have for you always!

Big MKF Hugs

P.S. See you at Worlds!!!

Thanks so much for dropping by here, and for everything else! You have inspired us all for many years with your magical performances and just by being you throughout your amazing career.

Your skating has brought me so much joy, shivers, and tears (good tears) - words can't really express it. I hope I can continue to watch you for a long time to come.

Good luck at Nationals, Worlds and (if you go) the Grand Prix Final. You know we are always all behind you 1000%.

Best always,

P.S. As you can see, we all are in love with your new short program (as skated at Skate America), which a devoted forum member managed to get a hold of for us. Fantastic performance!

Thank you so much, Michelle, for taking the time to post here. You are such an inspiration to so many people. I've always been a casual skating fan, but when I watched you skate at the Olympic Festival for the first time, you absolutely stole my heart! I have become an informed, avid fan because of you ... and because of you and your inspiration, I started skating lessons three months ago at the young age of 51! I am now in Level 2 Adult Basic, and I'm about to move up to Level 3. I never would have thought to do this had it not been for you.

I thank God every day for sending someone like you to serve as a role model. I truly believe that He has chosen you to be an example of how we all should be.

Thank you for all of the memorable performances. Thank you for sharing your emotions with your fans. Thank you for being true to yourself and for being yourself. Thank you for sharing your extrordinary gift with us. We will NEVER forget how special you truly are.

Be blessed and happy holidays to you and your family and friends. BTW ~ I think you and Scott are a good match.

Hi Michelle!!!

I hope you come back and post again..:) :) :) :) :) :)

There is SO much I have been wanting to say.. but like everyone else I am speechless (ok.. maybe not... but still I'm close enough!!) LOL!

Dear Michelle,
I want to start by thanking you for everything you have done since you were just a young teenager. You have brought the skating level to a higher place. You have shown alot of average everyday people that skating can be fun and it doesn't have to always be who wins what. Skating is a practical sport, no one knows how something is going to turn out, untill it's done. (no i.e.'s here... everyone knows what I'm tlaking about - I think) If you were to (hate to say it but I will) die tomorrow - just think of how many people you have brought to love skating! Because of you alot of us sit down during the summer, and put a tape in the VCR and watch from 1994 - present day... and half way through we realize that we're crying. You are a very sweet, kind, thoughful person on and off the ice. The way you skated Lyra Angelica and Fields Of Gold (Olympics) just showed that you have emotion, you can skate WITH emotion, and you are a wonderful beautiful skater STILL emerging.
Life is hard, but that doesn't mean we can slack and make it harder, Life is easy, if you take it with the correct hands.
(continuing...) Now it's time to get to the "Thanks" part..

Thanks for being there and always looking beautiful
Thanks for always skating hard
Thanks because you made everyone see you can still skate - even after 02 and 98
Thanks for your necklace!!!
Thanks for Lyra Angelica...
Thanks for Fields Of Gold, the one you did that was different then all the other times (Olympics) - It was awesome!
Thanks for the tears - happy and sad-
Thanks for the hopes..
Thanks for your dreams :)
Thanks .......... for everything you do.
Thanks for being you.
Thanks...... Just 'cause I wanted to say that... again.

.......................Cry hard, live harder, skate hardER, leave easy..................

.................................... Love,
Your fan since Salome,

Danielle M. B.

:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

P.S. whenever you skate - think of how much all your fans love you!!!
;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

(To bad they don't have a smilie crying.. - with a smile that is.. a happy cry..:) )

I admire so much about you~the way you handle tough situations, your beauty, intelligence, personality....the list goes on and on. I also love and admire how close your family is~anyone can tell that they are your biggest supporters and you all have a wonderful, close-knit relationship.

I hope that you are enjoying your stay in Hong Kong with your family~I think it's wonderful that you got the chance to go there. I understand what you meant when you said it's like being at home; I felt the same way when I went to my mother's country, Korea.

Good luck in all that you do~you'll always be our strength and beauty!

My breath was taken away and your skating has swept me off of my feet. Through the years to this season, I've admired your determination and integrity. Thanks for all that you are, all that you've given to us. I'm glad to hear how you are doing, from yourself :) (This is such a joyous moment, I'm tearing up) Thanks for taking the time to post here, to let us know how everything's going. I, like many others, am pretty much speechless. I'm in tears because I have always wanted to say this to you Michelle.

Because of you, three years ago I finally learned to skate...and it's been one of the most rewarding things in my life. I don't compete, I can't do triples or anything difficult...I just skate for the joy of it, for myself, to become one with my music, because that's what you've done for years...I follow your example...and I thank you for that every time I'm on the ice.

What you've brought to this sport is something that can't be described, it's intangable, but I do know it's there in every program, every movement, every big smile and subtle gesture you make.

Many thanks for showing the world what a true champion is and giving others the courage to aspire to be the same, on or off the ice.

You're a beautiful person and inspiration to us all! Thanks for posting...we love you and we'll always be there for you. :)

Anyhow, my family and i would like to say a million thank you's for being the lovely role model that you are. As many people have said already, no matter how many wins or losses you have gone thru or will go thru, we want to say we just love you for the person that you are - a great role model for young people of all different color and background today, one of the greatest athletes ever, and most importantly a genuine person whose modesty, dignity and poise shines thru and thru. You have held us in awe with your exquisite skating and continue to mesmerize us with your amazing abilities, both as a skater and as a person. I as an adult have been inspired by your determination and hard work ethics, as i know you've inspired many other people as well. Again, thank you so much!
We wish you much success and happiness in your future!! :) :)

Thats right!!!

...And as we're all screaming our excitement in rooting for you and believing in you at Nationals and ALWAYS, I want to tell you what that means in MKF terms.

Rooting is not rooting for someone to win.
Rooting is not rooting for someone else to fall.
It is the overflow of excitement and pride that we have felt ever since we saw the Glow-worm Michelle emerge a few months ago...my theory is that it started with a bronze medal.:)

It is from February 21 when we saw you smile
It is from Febraury 22 when we cried with you and hugged our TV sets, and each other.
It is from April 16 when a group of MKFers went to Hershey's (HI!) to cheer for "Our Michelle" in hopes to simply tell her two words "Thank You."
It is from a summer of COI's when you touched a nation and report after report came back to the Forum about a "glow" and the developing collective hunch that "she's not done yet. No way!"
It is from the day we found out that you had a new coach.
It is from the day in October when we first saw Aranjuez.
It is from the day we read reports of an AMAZING short program that rocked the house and was FULL OF POWER.
It is from November 13, when at about 8:40 am, a collective scream was heard around the world with the sentence "...And that's why I've decided to compete this year...":)
It is from November 14 when you met many MKFers and made dreams come true.

So you see, Michelle, the outcome of Nationals is not important to us. It is the fact that you are there. That you are following your heart every single day. That is why we are crying. That is why we will root for you, cheer for you, love you, believe in you forever. True, your skating is more than magical. Many, inlcuding myself have said that it takes you on a journey. It can heal, it can move hearts and move mountains.

However, it is MICHELLE that we are proud of.

I'm telling you, I would pay to see you sit on the ice and I'd be there cheering until I had no voice.

We all would.

Have a blast at Nationals...can't wait to see that smile (and SMIRAL!!-thats our name for your spiral, by the way...it's your SMILE that makes it the best!) :)

Wow, even though school has kept me so busy, I still stop by, and this was an incredible suprise to see! At least if I type here, I can at least make sure I'm saying what I want to say before I make a fool out of myself like I did at those Binghamton Events where I tried to say hello and felt like a bumbling idiot ;-)

Well, there are a million and one things to try to say, but I think everyone's already said it. So I guess the one thing I will say is:

Michelle, thank you so much for being such an inspiration.... In all aspects of life. I don't think any of us could have picked a better role model: You know what's important in life and you are following that with your heart. It means a lot to us.

Love,
Heather

To borrow from a Christmas carol, "Although it's been said many times, many ways," you're an inspiration to so many of us. Thank you for sharing with us!

Happy holidays to you and your family.

Thank you for posting on the forum. You will forever be my hero and you are the epitome of grace. You skate with so much freedom and grace, you conduct your life with grace both on and off the ice, and when you fell in Salt Lake City, I swear that you even fell with grace!!! We, at the Michelle Kwan Forum, will forever be here for you. That said, I hope to see you in Turino. We don't care if you win gold, we just want you to skate with freedom and joy. By doing that, I know that you will gain satisfaction. I recently inherited a large sum of money. My mom asked me what I wanted to do with it. The first thing that came to my mind was that I wanted to travel to Turino in 2006 to see you skate. But regardless, I will be happy as long as YOU do what makes you happy, whether that be the Olympics or not. My screen name is "Undaunted Courage". This is what you have and that is why you are my hero.

Dear Michelle,

Welcome to MKF! You've made all of us very happy by posting your message.

I just wanted to say thank you for all the joy your skating has brought to me. I've been a fan of many skaters, but it's only your skating that I've felt an emotional connection with. It's been a pleasure watching you grow from a girl to the young woman that you are today.

I think TFB is one of your best short programs, and can't wait to see it live at Worlds!

Michelle! I knew this was for real when I saw that it had that 'tack' icon next to the thread! :)

You are such a beautiful person. I remember hearing about you skating in the Olympic Festival back when you were 12 and I admired you ever since! Most celebrities try to put on the image that they're gracious and humble and care about their fans, but you don't put on that image-- you ARE all those things, for real. It isn't just an image for you. I appreciate how thoughtful you are of all of us. Every single encounter I've read about how people have met you at COI or wherever has always been extremely positive, including my own! I swear I was walking on Cloud 9 after I got really lucky, received a pass to get backstage, and meet you at the San Jose COI earlier this summer. Seeing FOG in person... a dream come true! You are so elegant and so exquisite!

I hope you like the book I gave you ;) Chicken Soup For The College Soul. I know you plan to go back to school sometime, so even though you're not in college right now you can read the funny stories and prepare! (or you can even relate to them, since you did attend for awhile!)

YOU ARE WONDERFUL!!! WE LOVE YOU :) :) :)

Michelle;
I don't even know how to begin. Everyone else has pretty much covered the things I would like to tell you. Just know that you are now, always have been, and always will be the GOLD standard in figure skating. No one can even touch you, ever. No other skater makes me weep with every single performance. In fact, no other skater has ever made me weep at all, period. You completely move me and your skating transcends time and place until we are transported to where you always take us: heaven. You have no idea how much I love seeing a skater who actually skates with her heart. I would rather see you do the beautiful in-betweens that you bring magic to, than to see another skater land quintuple/triple/double combinations that mean nothing at all.

Thank you, thank you, thank you...for everything you have done for figure-skating, for giving of yourself for us to enjoy and cherish, and for just being a wonderful person. You are truly my hero, and everything I could ever want my daughter to grow up to be. We love you so much.

YOU GO GIRL!!!

For EVERYTHING you give to everyone.
I've never really been a "fan" before (and I'm 60) but I am totally captured by the beautiful way you skate, by your respect for others, for your dedication to the sport, for being the best you can in every moment and for your competitive drive that has made you stay on top of your sport. I simply love the way you skate and the YOU that is skating.
When I thought you may not be skating this year, I started looking at other skaters to appreciate them more. However, I haven't been captured by anyone else's presence on the ice as well as grace and technical ability. Each person has their strengths, but in my eyes, you have the qualities I admire the most.
So THANK YOU, again for sharing those moments with us on the ice.
And thank you for signing pictures, and all the fun stuff you do for us, your fans.
I love you, Rose Mary

I just HAD to post to say hello, and thanks to Michelle for all her wondrous gifts she had given to her fans. I treasure all my skating tapes, my anticipations for her skating events, searching for Michellabilia (books, snowglobes, mags, etc.) and the enjoyment of all her wonderful fans who bring me such joy, celebrating and sharing Michelle Kwan's skating in our lives.

I did not participate in the gold ring, but still love and support you, Michelle. Just ask my co-workers at my nursing facility.

We just experienced one of the worst ice storms in Duke Power history, with power outages, and workers could not come to work d/t hazardous road conditions. I spent the night at the facility, forgetting my car was parked under a pine tree, which quickly became laden with ice and snow.

Concerned staff members reported the tree hanging onto my car, and one male CNA wanted to move it for me. When he asked which car was mine, two other staff members piped up, "The Michelle Kwan car!" and "The Michelle Kwan tag is a a dead giveaway. Where have you been?" :) :)

After having such a stressful two days at work, coming home to power off and no Michelle news, :( you can only imagine my delight to read this topic. :) :) :)

Yes, I support you, Michelle in my own way, and having my "Michelle Kwan fan" on the front of my car, is always such a joy to me.

Thanks again, Michelle for sending all MKFers a message of how much you really care.

Thanks, for being Michelle Kwan. My fav sports celebrity/hero.

And, thanks to Heather for all she does for this extraordinary MK site for all her fans. :)

Love,

Michelle,
How wonderful it is that you took the time to post here. Everyone here just adores you and this is just the icing on the cake. You bring so much joy and beauty to skating and touch people in a special way. That is an unique gift that you should be proud of. Your parents have raised you so well. Your sportsmanship sets such a wonderful example for everyone. My kids(21&23)and I have watched you skated since you started. They both played lots of sports over the years and I really feel like you influenced them in how you handle yourself. They looked up to you and you were a great example for me to use to show them how to be a great sport. Keep on reaching for your dreams and we will keep on loving to watch you skate. Thanks for stopping by and writing to us. You are just the best!

Welcome to the Forum Michelle. I just want to tell you that u have touched so many people. I also want to tell you what an inspiration you have been to me(i also have such a big crush on you), Iam only 16 and having someone like you to look up too is amazing. I met you in toyz r us in NYC(i cut skool to meet you) and you were so beautiful much more than that you were so nice, you even gave me a hug which was so wonderful(not to mention a fellow fan and I went back online twice just to meet you again and you were So SWEET. )The way you handle everything is so beautiful, after the olympics in 98 and 2002 you showed such class. You showed many Americans how a Champion is supposed to act. Once again thank you so much Michelle. You are just the best there is out there.

What can I say...As a long time lurker, I felt I could not let this INCREDIBLE occassion go without saying SOMETHING!

I have been a fan since you were 12 years old...I fell in "like" with your charm on the ice at such a young age, and fell in "love" with the elegance and grace that you now portray.

I had the opportunity to watch you skate live this year at COI in little 'ole Fresno, California, and all I can say is that your beauty (both on and off the ice) bring me to tears of joy. Most of us mere mortals only dream of being able to feel and express the type of joy/happiness that you exude as you move over the ice.

There are few people in this world who can recognize perfection when they see it. I, along with the thousands (millions?) of fans on this forum and around the world have the opportunity to see perfection for a few minutes of our lives. Not just perfection in the completion of jumps/spins, but perfection in the artistry, emotion, devotion, desire, grace, heartache, elegance, sacrifice, love, and joy of someone fulfilling their destiny in life.

Thank you for showing us what perfection looks like, and for sharing it with us.

Michelle: And I thought watching tapes of you skating was the best feeling in the world but I was wrong. Knowing that you know how much so many people love you and how many people's lives you've touched is even better. You pour so much love, heart, & soul into your skating but its returned to you a thousand times over!

Michelle, thank you SO MUCH for taking time out of your extremely busy life to communicate with us -- you have made us more excited and overjoyed than you can possibly imagine!

I have been a fan of yours ever since 1998, and I can't tell you what an amazing experience I've had "growing up" with you (I'm 21) and watching you skate over the years. I have laughed with your ups, cried with your downs, had fits of joy over some of your victories that caused my friends to label me "psycho" :lol , gone to outrageous lengths to post here and find out about how you're doing, and screamed with joy (along with the entire forum) when I got the news that you intended to compete eligibly again this season. You've been a beacon of joy and a wonderful role model for me and countless others all over the world.

When you've won competitions, you've talked about the joy of skating and the fun of the moment rather than bragging about your impressive accomplishments.

When you've lost competitions, you've been sweet, polite, and deferential to the winners and the media.

When you've performed for fun, and when you've skated in practice sessions, you've always taken time to acknowledge, talk to, and sign autographs for your fans.

When fans have written you letters, you've always written back.

When judges have been unfair to you, you've been kind and courteous to them.

When the media has wrongly slammed and criticized you, you've just smiled, refusing to utter a single harsh word.

When you've fallen, you've risen with a smile.

When no one has given you a chance, you've spiritedly proven them wrong, then smiled graciously.

When pressure has hit you, you've hit harder.

When life has given you lemons, you've made lemonade.

When faced with grueling work and tough odds, you've pressed on to overcome all.

When you were bumped to the alternate spot on the 1994 Olympic Team, you said, "Nancy deserves to go."

When a controversial decision cost you Olympic gold in Nagano, you said, "I like you, Tara."

When another close decision cost you Olympic gold again in Salt Lake City, you helped the winner to step to the top of the podium.

When you owed your sport nothing more and planned a well-deserved vacation but your federation requested you to serve as a last-minute stand-in, you agreed to help them.

When we think you've stepped so high that we wonder how you can possibly be sweeter or achieve more, you always surprise us, to our joy.

Ever since you stepped into the limelight, you've been a model of grace, courtesy, spirit, perseverance, intelligence, sportsmanship, kindness, humility, cheerfulness, loyalty, and, most of all, JOY.

The world is a better place because of you, Michelle! You are a great and gracious champion! Take care of yourself and remember WE LOVE YOU!!! God's blessings on you now and always!!!

Dear Michelle,

It is so wonderful that you took the time to come and post here. Thanks so much for doing such a sweet thing. By now, I guess you have figured out that you mean a lot to all of us. For many, the reasons are the same, and for others, those reasons are different. All of us have been touched in some way by your grace, beauty, and dignity on and off the ice.

Thank you, Michelle, for always bringing joy and happiness into my life. On days when I felt really down, I would pop in a tape of you skating, and, lo and behold, I would start to feel much better. Seeing the gentility and sincerity of your heart expressed through your skating...well, I have been brought to tears many times. Seeing you strive to reach all your goals and always be the best you can be has given me inspiration to do that in my own life. I am probably 14 years your senior and yet, I have gained so much from watching you over the years. By the way, watching you skate to "Fields of Gold" and "East of Eden" bring tears to my eyes every time. I never grow tired of seeing your joy that shines through, and knowing that as you skate your spirit is soaring.

You are a wonderful role model. I have a 10 year old daughter and she adores you too. I am glad there is someone like you for her to emulate!!

Thank you for stopping by here, Michelle. We all are ecstatic and are thrilled to have the chance to post back to you!!

I've been at this forum for a few years now but I rarely post. That being said, I just have to add my thoughts here on this special occasion. Michelle, If you read this, I know you've heard it all before, but you are really something special. Before I started watching you skate I didn't know a thing about the sport. But you've educated me and kept me interested in figure skating. My friends all think I'm nuts for all the fs I watch, and they are impressed when I pronounce all of the russian skaters' names with ease (LOL) I got my first pair of skates for my birthday, so at 27, I'm going to take my first step on the ice, and I'll be thinking of you. Thanks for the inspiration..and for your beautiful skating.

Luv, Naomi

P.S. If you're ever in Vegas, come see the show I perform in at the Stratosphere, it's called American Superstars. Byeee!

Michelle I know I have already posted but, like Kwanette I ended up speechless.

I truly hope to see skate for a long time. Whenever my husband and I are out and we know you are going to compete we always and I mean always eat chicken so that you you will compete well :lol In fact I think a lot of us at this forum eat chicken for you every time you compete.

You mean more to us then you think. When you are sad or hurting we feel it and we all so much want to go and give you a hug and let you know that is okay and that everything will work out.

Like Mano said you ARE figure skating and without you figure skating is nothing. You have brought so much to the sport. I will forever remember the little girl that stepped out on the ice for the first time as a Senior and the joy on your face when you skated. That joy is still there and I still see that little girl.

I do hope when you get time from your busy schedule that you will stop by and post again. You have made so many people happy especially me. I have been on cloud nine since yesterday. Thanks for everything Michelle. We all love you :)

Wow! I guess I missed all the excitement on the forum last night! But, I now have seen the absolutely marvelous new short program and have read a message from the one and only Michelle Kwan...a very pleasant end to a very stressful week of school. :)

Thank you so much, Michelle, just for being you. You are a wonderful skater and, even more so, a truly special person. The gracious, humble way in which you have conducted yourself over the years, both on and off the ice, has shown me, as well as many others, what it truly means to be a sportsman (or woman); through your actions, you have taught each of us how to accept defeat graciously and how to win with humility. I am so ecstatic that you are competing this season; you never cease to amaze me! I wish you nothing but the best, because you only deserve the absolute best. May you always follow your heart...it will lead you in the right direction. Keep smiling...and believe!! :)

God bless you and your family richly...

I remember watching you on television, Olympic Festival, in 1993 where you won the gold medal. When I saw you, I knew you had something special --- that you had 'it' that makes champions. I knew you would go far in your figure skating career, and I was right.

You have the heart of gold and I'm proud of all your skating accomplishments. You have proved to the world that you don't need an Olympic gold medal to achieve being the greatest figure skater of all time. I think you already proved it to the world all ready. I have always been inspired by how you bounce back from heartbreak with a smile on your face.

I wish you the best of luck for anything you do with your life. I will always rememember you and your skating.

Thank you,

WOW!!!! this is so exciting. Thank you so much Michelle for being such a great role model for teenagers like me. You are so awesome.I remember you saying have no regrets in life, but I really regret that one time about two years when you sat by me at the airport and I didn't know who you were!!! I can't believe myself, I would never let anything like that happen again. If only i could turn back time, I would tell how much you inspired and changed me from a d student to an all A's student.Once again thank you for just being you.

Oh My God!! To think I ignored this post thinking it was another imposter!!! Then when another thread kept saying what an amazing day thursday the 5th was, I thought to myself...could it be that she really posted? I frantically searched for a post from Heather confirming it. Once I found it, I got so nervous!! Oh my God, Michelle Kwan posted on this forum. I don't even know what to write!!! I'm so star struck..... well, here goes...
Michelle, I have followed every minute of your career since 1997 and it has been like a beautiful gift from you to me. You have become such an important part of my life. I can honestly say that some of my happiest moments have been because of you. Whether it was watching you on tv or live at a COI show. Thank you for being such a wonderful role model and especially for always being that beautiful person so many of us have grown to love. Often times when a die hard fan finally gets to meet the star they have grown to love, they are let down in some way. That has never been the case with you. I have read post after post from people who have met you in every situation imaginable and never has anyone complained. You are always sweet and thoughtful. I hope you know that we will always love you here at MKF no matter what. I'm sure I speak for everyone here when I say that win or no win, all we want is to know that you are happy. Also, we want you to know how much we love you. We will always be your unconditional supporters. Good luck at Nationals! That short program is to die for!!

I could go on and on about how great you are but the posters before me have pretty much said it all. It pretty much brightened my day to see a post on the MKF from someone I consider one of the best figure skaters of all time.

Thanks for the post and all the great skating memories!

LOL! I keep thinking of all the training time you might lose just reading this ONE thread! :rollin Although I know you may not be able to post often, it means a great deal to all of us that you popped in. If you ever have a bad day, just come here!

I can't possibly add any more to the wonderful posts that precede mine except to say quite simply: Thank you. :)

Hi Michelle, you are truly a very special person. Your on and off the court beauty, inside and outside, shines through every single moment. I'm never a figure skating fan, but I'm completely overwhelmed by your incredible talents, personality and character. I discovered you just last year and I have been watching figure skating since. No sorry, correction, I've been watching your skating only since. It's become catharsis for me, the pure beauty and joy of your skating just takes away all the negativity and lifts my spirit when I'm down and brings me to a higher level when I'm up.

I'm 12 years older than you yet I've learned so much from you how to handle life. Now I always remind myself of your extraordinary character when I face all my trials and tribulations. You are certainly a role model for all of us who come from all walks of life. You show us what life is all about, its ups and downs and how to rise above the downs and appreciate the ups.

Last but not least, You must always remember that every one here and all your fans out there love you for you just being Michelle and not for your medal accomplishments which have made you one of the all-time greats. Just go out there and skate and enjoy the hell out of it. We don't care anymore if you win or lose. You have nothing else to prove.

Thanks and God bless our special young lady, Michelle.

Michelle, I can' t believe this is happening, that you actually came to the Forum to post. This means more than you can ever imagine.

I've been away from the Forum for about 4 days and look what has happened. The Forumers went to Hong Kong and met you. We were finally able to see your Short Program and most wonderful and gratifying of all was that you wrote to us. I've been weeping ever since I signed on to MKFan Chat this evening and read all of these wonderful events.

Thank you Michelle for everything.

Thank you Leon for alerting me.

Dear Michelle, welcome to the MKF. During the last few years you've heard about 'the forum' from fans around the world and now I hope you'll see that we are really just harmless souls who happen to love you and think your skating is the best in the world, bar none. I'll bet you were surprised when some of us turned up in Hong Kong!! :)

I'm a California girl just like you and have had the honor and privilege of watching you skate live on several occasions, I too was at that wonderful dinner party in Anaheim during the COI tour. You were wonderful at California Adventure Land. The Q&A were great. I can only think of one thing that even comes close to the joy you bring and that was watching our Angels beat the Giants in the WS in October. I'm glad you were able to make one of the games. Wasn't it awesome?

Take care and thank you for taking the time to stop by. The Internet brings so many people together and our wonderful forum admins, Heather and Jenny, have made this moment possible for all of us.

If you have time, and you haven't been there yet, you really should check out Heather's Michelle Kwan webpage. It's awesome.

Hi Michelle,
I don't know if you'll get to read all these replies, but I thought I'd better jump in here before it gets too far along and add my thanks!!! When I saw Heather's confirmation that it was indeed you, my eyes filled up! How sweet of you to take the time to send a message to us all!

I can't do much more than stumble around an ice rink, but when I watch you skate I'm right there with you, flying! For that, I thank you. For being so willing to openly express your emotions to millions, therefore making your skating so real and
lovely, I thank you. For representing our country with such grace and class, I thank you.

Good luck with Nationals, the GPF, and Worlds. Go get them!

Hi Michelle!

I can't think of anything smart, witty or funny to say to make you smile but I do want you to know that you were, are, and still will be an inspiration to me. I've been a fan of yours since 1998 and I've never once thought of you as anything less than the best. Good luck in everything and don't forget to always, always have fun. This really made my day!

Hi Michelle, for years I've been hoping that you might pop in and say Hi, and now that you actually have, I'm speechless.

It was so nice of you to take the time out of your very busy schedule to stop in for a visit.

I'd like to tell you that you are my all time favorite skater. You have brought me to tears and left me breathless more times than I can say. I just watched your SP from Skate America and was totally in awe. It was exquisite.

I have to admit that I was feeling a little selfish this year. Many people thought that you would probably be taking this year off, but I was selfishly hoping that you would continue to skate. I just can't imagine Figure Skating without you. You have given us so many beautiful programs and believe me, we watch them all the time, but I can't help longing for more. I remember when you came out with your 1996 programs. (Romanza & Salome) You already had my heart before that, but you totally blew me away, and I thought that those programs were so great that there's no way you could ever top them. But your programs the next year were even more beautiful, even though it was a tough year for you. It got so that I couldn't wait for the new seasons to start just to see your new programs. I have loved each and every program you've ever done. So much so, that I've put together tapes of your best performances. So far I have 2 hoping for enough material to get through Vol. 3 hint hint

I have to chuckle whenever I hear you talk about your age and how so many people think that you must be 30 or something. I still think of you as a very young girl. I know that you've grown up, but you still have so much to offer the skating world. We know that you love it. Your love and passion for the sport shows everytime you step on the ice.
And we love you.

I can't wait to see you at Nationals. I love your new SP.
Good luck Michelle. Be happy.

I have written a million letters to you, but never sent them. Don't ask me why. But I think you have a couple of poems that I've written.

Anyway, it was so nice to see you here. I hope you can come again sometime.

Take care,
Love,
Cherie

Michelle--

I cannot believe you are actually here--no wait, I can, because that's just the kind of person you are. You have always taken the time to greet each and every one of us who approaches you--many of us speechless, with so many emotions waiting to pour out they all get lost in the absolute amazement that you are you.

Thank you so much Michelle, for everything that you have done. I do human rights work, and almost every day I feel some of the weight of the world lying so heavily upon me. I find myself so lost in sadness it is sometimes hard to come out of it. But when I watch you skate--just for those 2 1/2 minutes or 4 minutes or anything in between-- it brings such an incredible amount of joy to my life. I always find myself crying when I watch you--sometimes out of sadness, but mostly out of joy. The kind of art you create, the beauty, strength, humility and grace that you just exude, is like nothing I've ever seen before. Your art inspires me. I know it's cheesy and strange to say skating inspires me to keep working to help people, but you are truly a role model in that you have so much courage to keep going after incredible disappointments. And you are so humble that you will never wish anything bad upon any of your competitors--you never blame anyone for what happens, you just keep moving on with your art. You do it for yourself, but also, I think, because of the joy you bring to people. In a way, you, and your art, heal people. It helps me to move on.

Thank you, Michelle, for being everything you are. I cannot express enough how much you and your art have helped me throughout the years--from being a skater in the early 90s, watching someone exactly my age pass her senior test in '93 (at 13!! We had never heard of it), to 1996, when I had to deal with losing skating for a variety of reasons, through the rest of high school, college, and now. You are truly special.

Thank you Michelle--please continue to be exactly who you are, follow your heart, and kick butt at Nationals! I believe in you :)

All my love and respect,
sarah

Michelle, you really made my day by posting here. When I opened my browser last night I was tired, cold and aching after shoveling 6 inches of snow out of a long driveway, but that quickly faded away when I logged on to MKF. First the posts from fans who were following you in Hong Kong, then that wonderful video of your SP at Skate America, and then a post from you in person. I sat there reading the posts while practicing boring scales and arpeggios on my horn (I am a professional musician and like you I must practice the fundamentals regularly to keep my technical skills up) and before I knew it more than an hour had passed.

I just realized that it has been four years since I wrote you a fan letter and you responded by mailing me an autographed picture from the '98 Nationals. It arrived on the eve of my birthday. I scanned that picture and enlarged it to poster size to hang on a wall in my home. Thank you so much for that souvenir and for all the pleasure you have brought to me and millions of others over the years.

Best wishes,
Keith

Michelle, you are an inspiration to all of your fans around the world. I was fortunate to see you in person at Champions on Ice here in Albuquerque in July. My husband and I have watched you since you first came on the skating scene. We absolutely love you. When you are on the TV, we don't let anyone or anything disrupt the time you are on. Your skating is so beautiful, it sometimes leaves me in tears at the grace and beauty of it all. We wish you the best at Nationals and Worlds.
Thanks for your autographed postcard. I treasure it along with all my other MK books and memoribilia.

May you and your family have a wonderful holiday season.

Hi Michelle!!! I hope you actually have the time to read all of these posts.... especially since mine is at the tail end of 13 pages, Wow!! See how much you are loved?

Michelle, I've adored your skating since I first saw you in 94. You are such a special lady, with all of the special qualities that everyone else has so eloquently talked about already on this thread. I couldn't put it better if I tried!

I saw you live for the first time at COI in Fargo, ND this past June...You were lovely!!

I wish you the best of luck at Nats and Worlds this year, and at whatever you do!:)
