WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. She is just a phenomenal person. With all this crazy stuff thrown at her, she ramained calm and compose. What a CLASSY, CLASSY lady she IS. A true champ! A true role model.
Again, what she's gained is more than the title, more than the gold! Respect and the heart of the world.

She has won, count 'em, 9 world medals overall. Now Michelle has the complete set -- gold, silver, and bronze. Do you think this is a good omen for 2006?

SHE'S THE BEST!!!
Thank you, Michelle, for another skate for the ages!

Great omen! I much prefer MK skate without the weight of the world on her shoulders and everybody expecting her to win Gold. She needs to up the ante technically though... and so does Sasha. Now on to a full set of Oly medals for MK!

I am all for Michelle completing her collection in 2006! She is simply the best! Any other person would have folded under all that pressure, but Michelle just grew stronger! Nerves of steel! I am so proud of her!

I don't think I have ever been quite this happy for a MK less- than- gold competition....This week MK competed against herself, a clock, an over-zealous referee, sight-impaired judges, the ISU, the media,a streaker...and she still emerged a "winner".Once again, her skating was brilliant...and the grace, class and dignity that made me fall in love with a tiny 12 year old were on display once again....
Legend, thy name is KWAN.

Something I posted in another thread, but I think it fits perfectly here:
I couldn't be more proud of her had she worn the gold medal...it doesn't matter what she does on the ice, it is WHO she is that makes all the difference. She skated with heart and emotion, and she overcame the most battles to come back and truly win! Michelle is wearing the bronze at these world championships and I am so incredible proud...and regardless...gold, silver, or bronze...or no medal at all....Michelle always shines like gold! It may be cheesy to say, but it is the plain, absolute truth!!

Kwanette, you hit the nail on the head again!! I totally agree! I am just sooo happy for this 6.0 bronze medal winning performance. I was teaching all morning and just waiting anxiously to get back here and check the results and the 1st thing I saw was about the streaker. I couldn't believe what I was reading! Of course, after the tension of this week Michelle probably needed the laugh. What a strange Worlds and none of it rattled her. Not that I expected any less.
Michelle, how do you do it?

kwan and history at worlds go together, this year alone
last person to receive 6.0
only person to receive 6, 6.0's and win a bronze medal
only person to have a streaker
the whole 2 sec, .1 deduction thing (that we know of)
i'm sure the list goes on

Awwww, kwanette - you made my cry again! So many emotions associated with this championship - disbelief, outrage, disgust at the way things were handled by TPTB, but also hope, gratitude and immense pride in the wonderful young woman we all support. What a rollercoaster ride this one was!

When I started reading this thread I was going to go to Pauline's AIM profile and get a quote she had in there that I had read and liked so much. Then I got to kwanette's post and copied this quote:I don't think I have ever been quite this happy for a MK less- than- gold competition to say that I totally agree with that and feel the same way. Then I continued reading her post only to find that it was the exactly quote I was going to find in Pauline's profile! As many have already articulated, well said kwanette! :)

I would say that Michelle has nerves of steel, ice water in her veins, and a marvelously glowing fire in her heart. She put the qualifying and SP setbacks behind her and kept her composure after that scary foolishness in the LP. She is a true champion whether she wins the gold or not.
I think she is taking a sound approach to upping the ante on the jumps. This is not something to be rushed in a quest for this year's gold medal. If I am not mistaken, she spoke at some length about wishing to keep up with the rising Japanese stars athletically, provided her body can take it. She acknowledged having had some hip and back pain, and the need to work on the technique methodically and avoid serious injury in the process. She appears to be in good hands with Rafael working with her on the fine points of putting 3/3s together. I wish I could remember the source of all of this. I will need to do some searching.
Once again, Michelle is to be congratulated for rising above the difficulties she faced this week and skating an LP performance that most skaters can only dream of.

Yes, Michelle is bigger than Worlds. I was just meditating on how she transcends all the bad things.
She is bigger than Olympics also and whether or not she competes next time and whether she wins a medal or not or gold or not, she is still the best! Jack

I am so very proud to say that I am a fan of Michelle Kwan! To handle all of the pressure that she has gone through with such composure and grace and come out with two great beautiful skates at this Worlds competition is truly inspiring! While looking at the three ladies on the medal podium, I just cannot take my eyes off of Michelle! All this and more proves to me that Michelle IS bigger than Worlds!!

WOW she is amazing. I was away yesterday and
not able to get the results or watch the competition.
I could not believe my eyes. A SP fiasco, a streaker
before her long and a BRONZE Medal.
Michelle I love you!!!!!!!

Okay, I watched World and I am very impressed with how easy the Japanese ladies made triple-triple combos look like.
I cant say much, other than Michelle better start training to get psyched for performing three programs.
And last, Olympic Gold will go to the skater who is the most relaxed. In '98, Tara was the most relaxed skater. In '02, Sarah was the most relaxed skater.

If Michelle keeps healthy....she will win another Worlds, and break the number 6 title barrier .....
Michelle has the ability to win Gold at the Olympics there can be no doubt....
