I know many people have asked questions re this.. and mainly, it takes a lot of practice and patience (more patience than anything, since I still have lots of problems and tend to have to go back and fix edges again), but here's a pdf that explains cutting out imagines in PSP:

This should be a good way to share our experiences. The PSP item is just how I lifted Michelle from the original picture when making my wallpaper. There was still work to be done on the edge because of traces of the background in spots. At this point I was painting electronically.

In most of my experience with applications software the manufacturer's instruction writing has been lousy. The steep front end of the learning curve is the worst. Most of us really need help from experienced users who are ordinary people like ourselves, rather than the techies who are too immersed in their own work to see it as we do.
