We've heard the US comments on what happened at
Worlds, but I was wondering about the other countries commentators.
What was their take on it ?

And just a quick question for the ISU rules savvy
people. When a skater's music is timed for the SP,
do they automatically begin timing them from the
start of the music or is it when they begin
moving ?

On Russian TV they never mentioned anything about Kwan's penalty, all they were talking about that she is good artistically (but compared her Tosca to Slutskaya and tore MK to pieces) but in tech (!) she is far behind Japanese girls and Cohen. But the pair of commentators we have for ladies and pairs is the worst I know about - they spell half of the names wrong, always mess up with facts, are impossibly biased so even our newspapers comment on it and never can stop rambling about what they want to say and not about what's going on on the ice. I wasn't even surprised that they called Kwan 4time World Champion in both SP and LP.

The timing starts not when the music begins, but when the skater makes its first move.

When I got home and checked the tape, I was surprised to hear the Dutch Eurosport commentator going off on Sasha's SP placement. She even came right out and called it "just wrong". According to her, Sasha and MK had the same exact tech content, so there was no reason for Sasha's much higher scores. Also, she seemed ticked-off that Sasha placed above Miki and Shazuka, who both did 3/3s.

OK, I went back and rewatched the tape. She didn't mention anything about the overrun deduction, but since it was live couverage, she may not have known about it till later. She did however say "The 5.1 is absurd!".

Both last year and this, she msotly talks about how beloved Mk is by the audience and fans in general.

sasha and michelle had the best 8 elements, which is the short program, the japanese girls did do triple triples, one of them obviously underotating it and shouldnt have gotten credit for it.
michelle DID have a mistake on her layback though if you watch the tape carefully.....I may have taken a tenth off there, but....a 5.1 was cruel!8)
