The restaurant info below is slightly updated from what I posted in the "when?" thread. I got a price and updated availability info from Teaism and typed in all three dinner menus from Tony Cheng's.

Updated Restaurant Info:
All are within a couple blocks of the arena. These are in no particular order; the numbers are included just to offset the descriptions. Under-21 diners are not a problem for the brew-pub. Drinks, tax (10% in DC) and tip not included unless mentioned otherwise. * indicates spicy dish on Chinese menus.

1) Teaism - “Pan -asian Fusion” Zagat-rated. $16.25 Each (includes drink, tax and tip) Max of 45 people. Each person pre-orders one of five Bento boxes, so we wouldn’t have to wait for service. They provide us with an assortment of drinks (fresh squeezed ginger limeade or Japanese sweet green tea) and desserts (chocolate and earl grey shortbread cookies/mini tea cake - she included one of each for each person in the quote. I might be able to get it knocked down to $15 even if we trim that back some...)
Bento boxes :
Fish- chilled baked teriyaki salmon, cucumber-ginger salad, rice and edamame
Veggie- grilled veggies with miso sauce, tofu with toppings, rice and edamame
Meatball – beef meatballs and tomato-miso sauce, tomato salad, carrot-sprout salad and rice
Chicken – fried chicken, sweet potatoes, cucumber ginger salad and rice
Tuna – Seared tuna and wasabi sauce, carrot-sprout salad, sweet potato and rice

2) RFD Washington - brew-pub. $19.95 for dinner. $14.95 for lunch. (Includes drink.) Need to know by 3/14. We’d have a section of the restaurant if the group is less than 50. They have a separate room for 80 or so. Includes salad, choice of 2 entrées: 1/2 braised chicken or one fish option (we’d have to pick either salmon atop crab quiche or lobster-and-crab ravioli), soft drink, dessert (tiramisu or cobbler). My notes are kind of messy: may include appetizer also. Those over-21 could buy alcoholic drinks at the bar.

3) Tony Cheng’s Seafood Restaurant -Chinese. Zagat-rated. Washingtonian “100 Very Best” and “100 Best Bargain” Pick one party menu $17.95 to $21.95 for dinner (3 diff menus). Beverages not included. Need at least 40 or 50 to get private room (with own cash bar), otherwise, we’d probably just have a group of tables in the main restaurant.
$17.95 dinner menu: soup of the day, spring roll, *Kung Pao chicken, beef with broccoli, sweet and sour pork, baby shrimp with cashew nuts, *Szechuan string beans, Young Chow fried rice, fortune cookies, sliced orange for dessert.
$19.95 dinner menu: soup of the day, spring roll and fried meat dumpling, *baby shrimp in spicy garlic sauce, sweet and sour pork, string beans with chicken, mixed vegetable, *Hunan style beef, shrimp fried rice, fortune cookies, sliced orange for dessert.
$21.95 dinner menu: soup of the day, spring roll, fried meat dumpling, *crispy orange beef, seafood double delight (shrimp and scallop), *shredded chicken with pepper in black bean sauce, *double cooked pork, mixed vegetable, young chow fried rice, fortune cookies, sliced orange for dessert.

4) Mr. Yung’s –Chinese. Pick one of three party menus $15, $20, and $25. Doesn’t include tax, tip, drink. Cash bar. No private room, just a group of tables/section of the restaurant.
$15: Shredded duck with orange peel soup, steam dumpling, crispy vegetable spring roll, shrimp with mixed vegetable, beef with broccoli, *General Tso’s chicken, *Double-cooked pork, *Kung Pao chicken, sautéed vegetables, steamed rice, fresh fruit and fortune cookie.
$20: Seafood with tofu soup, pan fried dumpling Peking style, Steamed dumpling Hong Kong style, *shrimp in shell sautéed with garlic and spicy salt, apple flavored pork and beef, sesame chicken, eight treasure sautéed with vegetable (not sure what this is!), sautéed vegetables, boneless Chilean Sea Bass chunks (Hunan, sweet and sour, or steamed), steamed rice, fresh fruit and fortune cookies.
$25: crabmeat with asparagus soup, crispy seafood spring rolls, skewer chicken, jumbo shrimp with walnuts in salad sauce, *flank steak with hot black pepper sauce, roast chicken with bones Cantonese style, seafood combination in bird’s nest, sautéed vegetable, boneless Chilean Sea Bass chunks (Hunan, sweet and sour, or steamed)

I didn't say so in the message above, but I'm hoping this thread will be a discussion of our choices.

I don't have a strong preference, but I'll start with some points to consider:
1) For the budget-conscious: Teaism is the cheapest at $16.25 all-inclusive. The others are pretty much around $20 before tax and tip (and maybe drink). So that's $25 including tax and tip.

2) The Chinese places would be the banquet-style where each table of 8-10 or so shares several dishes. Some people may not like that. Of the Chinese places, I lean ever so slightly toward Tony Cheng's mostly because of the reputation (Zagat and Washingtonian ratings), but Mr. Yung's does have a cheaper dinner option.

3) Teaism is a more casual place, where customers go order at a counter. They have a few tables near the counter and a room downstairs with tables. We could have one side of that room with our food set out for us to pick up. The unusual food may be a little out of some people's comfort zone, whereas I imagine RFD Washington's pub food would be within everybody's comfort zone.

My first picks would probably be RFD Washington or Tony Chengs but I'd be happy with whatever we pick. Pamby, if you have any preferences from seeing the places and just getting a feel for who seems to be organized and a good physical setting, I'd certainly go with those.

In any event thanks so much for all this effort.

From looking atthe menu Tony Cheng's is more American Chinese and Mr Yung is more Chinese Chinese. I would go for Mr Yung.

Teaism or Tony Cheng's if you are asking for votes...but like everyone else here, it really doesn't matter to me! it was difficult just narrowing it down to two! My only concern was space at the Teaism restaurant...

Thanks A MILLION for doing this, I can't wait to meet all of you at Worlds...I am just so excited!:D

Hi guys,

I hope it's not too late to think about a few other choices.
The other ones sound good, but they seem to be mostly
Chinese food. I was thinking we could go with
something that offers alittle more variety.

Here are a couple of other choices that are in the area
that were on www.restaurantrow.com (http://www.restaurantrow.com)

Planet Hollywood
www.planethollywood.com (http://www.planethollywood.com)
1101 Pennsylvania Ave, N.W.

Lunch - $ 7.95 ~ $ 8.95
Dinner - $ 8.50 ~ $19.95
Beverages and dessert are extra.

TGI Friday's

If you are still looking for votes, I like RFD Washington or Tony Chengs also. But anything is fine with me - not really picky. You found good choices Pamby - thanks so much for doing the organizing.
