Some things to clarify/add to my previous reports that I forgot to note in my report last night:

As I suspected, they have tinkered with the temps at the venues. Yesterday, I needed my extra layer (a cardigan sweater) in both places.

The forecast last night calls for temps in the low to mid-60s through next Saturday. One of the days was forecasted for 67. One forecast I saw says it's supposed to be sunny all week, another said it will rain on Wednesday and Thursday - I would bring a rain jacket and umbrella, just to be safe. Keep in mind thatthe weather here is hard to predict b/c we're a coastal area, so bring a variety of clothes.

The problem with vertical distance between rows of seats at MCI appears to only affect the first 5 or 6 rows. I sat in the 8th row for part of a practice yesterday and had no problem seeing over anyone's head. Then, I moved down to my seat and noticed the difference. Obviously, the architects wanted the lower rows to slope more gradually - I don't believe the lower rows of seats at my arena (Baltimore) are like that, but that's the way it is here.

Thanks Debbie! Just a quick question though -- I'm going to bring a rain/spring coat, as well as a denim jacket. do you think I'll need my wool coat as well? I'm going to be layering (probably tshirt, longsleeve shirt, and sweater or other layering agent, at least...) while in the rink. Do you think I should bring the wool coat just in case? Or will I probably not need it in the arena (or outside)?

Thank you!

I've been checking the weather channel website and there is indeed rain predicted for Wednesday and Thursday with thunderstorms on the latter day. I'm sitting in the fifth row, when you say vertical distance do you mean you can't get an accurate estimation of how far the jumps are off the ice? Thanks for all the info, I'll make sure to bring something to layer with.

Schez, So far I've been fine with a light jacket and a fleece/sweatshirt layer and a t-shirt. Most of the time, that's been too much, but even close to the ice at the Convention Center I was ok. The temps could drop, but so far I've been fine.

Schez, I think you'll be fine with the layers you describe - you might want to bring gloves in case your hands get cold. The temps seemed cooler today - the C Ctr was pretty frigid. But I'm not planning to take a winter coat - just my rain jacket, with some cardigan sweaters and maybe my fleece, as an extra layer over whatever I'm wearing. I would take what you took to L.A. last year, as long as that kept you warm. Keep in mind that temps at night are in the 40s, so depending on how far you have to walk outside to get to your hotel after events finish in the evening, wear enough so you'll be OK.

Terri, what I meant is that if you seat close to the ice, the heads of the people in front of you are higher than they are in the higher rows. In the higher rows in the lower bowl, you have no problem seeing over someone's head, b/c the vertical distance between the seats is pretty good. But b/c in the lower rows, there's less of a drop between your row and the row below you, people's heads may get in your way of seeing certain parts of the ice. That's what I meant in my earlier post about needing to move your head a lot if you are short - to see between heads depending on where a skater is skating.

That's the bad part about being in the lower bowl. If you're not in the front row, being in rows 3-8 probably suck because you can't see the corners. At least in the front row, you can lean forward to see the corners. You don't have that ability in the next several rows. Only when the vertical height of your seat rises do you get to see the corners. I'm sitting in the front row of the club level and I think that's going to be better seats than the 5th row center ice.

If I were going to be sitting in one of those seats, instead of my family room :( , I'd take a cushion or my extra, unused layers to sit on and boost my height in the seat. I'm short. I wouldn't want to pay all that money to spend it craining my neck. Just a suggestion.
