OK.

If you're planning on attending, or even thinking about attending, please e-mail me at Michaelruns@hotmail.com

Please put: Victory Party in the subject so I'll know it when I see it. (Some e-mail addresses not in my address book will go to the junk mailbox, and I don't want to delete you.)

Even if you think I know your real name, please give it to me again. That is, MKF name, and real name - so I can make labels.

From there, I will e-mail you my address/contact info. for the party.

So far, I've had approx. 25 responses - most being affirmative, w/a couple of 'maybes' thrown in.

I think we should start at around 7 p.m. The idea is that we'll have lots of food for sure, so come hungry. (i.e., Don't eat dinner!)

I'm hoping that Toly's DVD's will arrive from the Phillipines in time so we can play those during the party.

I'll be making some Bolivian family dishes that are always wildly popular at our parties. One is a bready cheese roll, another is sort of like a corn bread, and last - my specialty: salteñas. (hopefully I'll have time - they take a couple of days). Salteñas are sort of like empanadas, but better! I like to call them little meat pies - so if you're a vegetarian, this is not for you. ;)

If you want to post here what you'll bring, that'd be great. NYMkfan51 offered to bring paper products. - I'll let you know exactly what I need that week, ok?

I'll keep a compiled list of what's being brought, and as we get closer, we may have to change a bit just to be covered in all areas: sweets, drinks, munchies, heavier food, etc.

Hope this is ok w/everyone. Looking forward to it!

M.

Thanks. I'll e-mail you. I'm not a great cook, so it is usually safer if I bring something that is store bought. At thanksgiving my family always has me bring cider:rolleyes

My first thought was that I could bring some bottles of champagne or wine, but I'd be happy to bring whatever you need once you see what everyone else is bringing.

Mike, I'll e-mail you, too! I hope you have tolerant neighbors!

We will RACH!

Mike,

I'll email you in the affirmative after this...But I think everyone who attends the victory party should have to walk into your door in their favorite Michelle pose--either the starting pose of a program or the ending pose, or something in between.

;-)

I'm just kidding by the way. But I think it would be a riot. Unfortunately, I'm not that elegant, but I think some of the lovelier, more graceful people should try.

Zack! I completely agree!!!!

I would love to come too. I thought no at first but I see others are coming from Philadelphia so maybe! I'll look into it. Maybe I could travel with snowbird and Heather? I can get to NYC by myself but it'd be nice to travel in company :)

Thanks Mike!

I was joking, but the more I think about it, the more I keep laughing.

What if everyone had to walk in with a pose, and the people already there had to guess which program it's from—which year, and the music? Whoever gets it WRONG has to take a shot.

:-)

Or we can make fun of skaters whom we don't particularly like: walk in, satirizing Slutskaya's melodramatic arm movements from "Tosca"?

I'm not a skater, so I guess I'd have to walk in with something easy, something safe: maybe Tonya Harding's choreography from her 1989 LP; I remember that one being really really simple. I was only in junior high, I think, but even then I could tell how unadvanced she was artistically...

Skate517-I haven't confirmed just yet, but if I go, I hope I can go with some others in the Philly area since I've never been to NY (imagine that), and I don't know how excited I'd be to go there alone. ;)

Zack-OMG, you have me cracking up! Please don't give Mike ideas like that. ;)

Heather, I'm sure if you wanted to take the train up some of us in NY could be sure to meet the train if you were uncomfortable travelling to NY alone. And if you wanted to stay overnight, you're welcome (I'm about an hour north of the city, but you're still welcome).

Hi!

I think Zack's Kwan posing idea would be so hilarious. We should try, even if not artistic. Besides noone is as good as Michelle, right? So it wouldn't matter ;) :rollin

Heather-Yeah, it'd be great to travel together. I'm able to get around New York so it would be ok and good to be in a clump.
:) :) :) :)

Kwanette, I think only you can do the "wing it" pose. You'll just have to be there!:D

To everyone that e-mailed me this weekend; I left my list at work, so I'll get back to everyone (w/food/address/parking/etc. info.) on Monday, or Tuesday at the latest. OK?

I think we should all come up w/our favorite pose or move for pictures. That would be funny. :lol So, think of something, and you better have a back up in case someone picks yours.... I think I know which one I'll be doing. :b

OK. I think I'm all caught up on e-mailing everyone. The turn out is going to be great.

Let me hear from those of you who responded to the original thread in MK Fan Chat. There's still a number of you left to get in touch.

Bagelpuss:

You have me so curious about these. Do tell...

Well, they're not as interesting as they sound, I just gave them a cute name. Basically, they're choclate cookies with white chips instead of the other way around, so they're "inside out", get it? :rollin Ok, I'm a dork. :\

PS I love these new Michelle smilies!

Happy Easter everyone! I've had an exhausting week at church this past week w/lots and lots of singing at all these services.

I've done some tallying tonight re: what everyone is bringing, and what we still need. I'll be e-mailing everyone, hopefully tomorrow w/final details, and confirmations, ok?

Any questions, let me know via e-mail or this thread. I'll post a list at some point.

Sorry Mike and everybody else, but unfortunately I will not be able to attend.

Ya'll know how I ditched the bridal shower for a certain skating event, well now this Friday is the Bachlorette Party. Since I missed the shower, I feel it is my duty as bridemaid to make this one.

Hope everyone has fun and Mike you are the best!

Goo or Sarah I think I will give you a call Friday night, just so I can say hi to everyone :)

Yankgrl146 - Aw-w-w-w-w. I'm sorry you can't make it. But enjoy the Bachchelorette party. It should be a lot of fun. I'll miss you.

Skate517. Weren't you the teenagers at Worlds with us in the bar? I remember buying you and your friend non-alcoholic drinks. Then it was Don Quon's turn to watch over you. I have a great photo of you in the bar.

Hi guys! Everything's coming together nicely. I've been e-mailing a lot of you this a.m. confirming your attendance and what you're bringing. If you have not heard from me w/a 'confirmed' e-mail, I'll get to you.

When this thread was originally posted in MKF Fan Chat, I had replies from the following, from whom I've not yet heard:

Galadrielle
Jvanal
Maureen
Sidwich1
TJ001

Please e-me at Michaelruns@hotmail.com with VICTORY PARTY in the subject - so I don't miss it(!) to let me know your plans. Hope you can make it. (Though, I seem to remember at least 1 of you was from out of town and mentioned that - but I'm not sure.)

We have quite a contingent coming (a few from the Philly area too!), and lots of good food planned, so if you're just reading this post for the first time, join us.

Awwww yankgrl I was looking forward to hanging out -- BUT, a bachelorette party is a great reason to be missing this wonderful bash! And I'm *sure* we'll have many other opportunities to celebrate over the coming years (months, days...) :D And yes, please give me a call! I'll be sure to keep my phone close.

Have a blast!!!!

Skater 517 -I'll see you on Friday. No bar hopping this trip. Are you traveling alone and do we have to chaperone you again?

Mike - did you get the CDs from Toly?

MikeNYC
April 24th, 2003, 09:27 AM
Yes, I have the cd's. There's a lot of stuff on them. They're split into 4 cd's. 1 & 2 have all competitive programs since '93 (sort of the 'best' skates of each one) through '03 Natls.; and then discs 3 & 4 have all her exhibitions starting w/Peter Pan medley 'You Can Fly' etc., through FOG at '03 Nat'ls. A couple here I've not seen (including something w/Karen). It's a great compilation.

We'll mix in maybe an episode of Lutzchat, and some other video someone is bringing, but I don't remember who or what it is.

belladella-I'm coming with a friend. No bars this time ;) We'll be careful and I hope we weren't an annoyance in DC. Our parents knew where we were venturing out into and we knew too and were prepared :) I really appreciate how caring you were though.
