Why? The Eastern Block is alive and well. Who gave MK the 4.2 in QR and the 5.1 in SP? Was it the same judge?
Who will judge the LP?
Seems unfair not to have judges from all parts of the world :(

No kidding! I think they should have to have at least one judge from each competing continent. That still means there could be a pack of Eastern Block jugdes in the mix, but at least every skater would know there would be one judge from their region. Too bad some regions will still think that judging should be done "Survivor style" with lots of alliances.

WHAT! how would this create fairness? Your solution offers nothing but favoratism towards North America. NA has only 3 federations versus the many in Asia and the dozens in Europe. Why should NA be given a better opportunity for having judges?

Posts like this prove nothing but their creator's ignorance. I don't see how there can be a fairer way in choosing judges than the current system in a random draw from the pool. Your proposal is almost as absurd as Geographic distribution.

And why do you have this belief that Eastern European judges seem to be less ethical than others? Was it not Canadian Judge Jean Senft who admitted to having knowledge of an attempt to fix a competition, and then sitting on this information for 6 months after the competition. She only came forward when the ISU was questioning her for National Bias. Also, if you look at her placements, she was the only judge who placed the skaters in the order said on her "tape" in which it took her 6 months to come forward with. So much for her claims of wanting fair judging.

Thvu, calm thyself. It's nothing more than whining because Michelle didn't place higher in the SP. For some reason, they believe that if there had been NA judges on the panel, that ultimately Michelle would have won Worlds.

Going by that logic, wouldn't Sasha received even higher marks? :rolleyes

well then have 3 judges from NA, 3 from EUR, and 3 from Asia. although Im dont know much about the skating federation in ISU. we would have USA, CAN, whats the third NA/SA nation?? in Asia, we have CHN, JPN, and TWN? (please dont get started on the whole China vs. Tawian topic). In Europe, take your pic, alternate or anything. Is that a better solution? or rather have 2 from both NA and Asia, and 5 from Europe, seperating according to eastern/western blocs. that'll be more fair to some people.

Dick Button was making a big deal about the lack of NA judges during his commentary. I would assume that he thinks this may create some unfair bias against the NA skaters.

In any case, the judging system is a mess. I don't like the anonymous judging and I don't think COP will fix the corruption. It may be a step in the right direction but, if judges really want to favor a skater they'll find a way to do it with COP.

There is a federation in Mexico. Geographic distribution is not the answer. Any attempt to fix what judges get on the panel is not fairness. How can it be? The notion of trying to seperate some "bloc" shows nothing but an attempt to create unfairness as some federations are being discriminated against. There are dozens of federations in Europe, 3 in NA, 4 in Asia, 1 in Australia, and 1 in Africa. How is that fair to have geogrpahic distribution with these conditions? The current system is the only way where fairness can be achieved. Every federation has an equal chance of beind drawn for events (except in Dance competitions where not ever federation has qualified dance judges).
