Sorry for the delay in posting. I got involved in something else.

It appears that some members of our group are anxious for another luncheon to relieve the off season anxiety and ennui. I'm ready for a gathering myself. It'll be a fitting conclusion to the best season ever here at MKF. Also we want to wish the best to MikeNYC and Tim - break a leg type of thing. It will be a long time until we see each other again at Campbell's and I'm missing you guys already.

We have to select a day, a date, a time, and a place. I'm not a city person, so I don't know all of the great places, but our criteria are convenience, reasonable prices, good food, tolerance for our noise, and space to accomodate our group.

We've been going to the same two places for the past two years, so if anyone has a suggestion for someplace new, it will be welcome.

Here are my suggestions:
Day: Saturday
Date: June 14 or June 21
Time: 1:00 ish pm
Place: Westside Cottage - 788 9th Avenue (48th St. I think)

Let's hear from everybody.

Dell, you're a doll, as always!

I vote for 6/21.

Westside Cottage is fine with me; they are always so nice to us and don't mind our gushing!

I second that motion. 6/21 sounds perfect to me. Dell thanks for being the group leader and getting us together again ;) . See you soon...

i'll be there. i'd love to have a three hour lunch again!

6/21 is best for me as I have a wedding on 6/14 and wouldn't be able to attend that day (oh the sadness - jk!)

Never been to Westside Cottage so that works for me!

MikeNYC
June 6th, 2003, 08:03 AM
I'm in. I think that day's good for me.

I appreciate the acknowledgement of going out of town, but you don't have to do that. I'm just going off to do a couple of shows. It'll be fun.

I'll check back here for more details, etc. (I haven't logged into this area in a LONG time!) :eek

I'm in! Either the 14th or 21st is good for me - as long as it's not earlier than 1pm (I have a class in the morning), and as long as it's not that 28th (moving to a new apartment that weekend). Westside Cottage also sounds good.

Can't wait! Whee! ;)

belladella
June 6th, 2003, 09:14 AM
Hi everybody: Thanks for responding.
We'll have to wait for a few more respondees to see if we have a consensus.
Hi graciesfriend - I am so looking forward to seeing you and getting my Michelle's big head.
Katializ - how's my "roomie"?
NYFSFan- Hi - I enjoyed your photographs so much. IF you have new ones, I'd like to see them. Can't wait to see you. Whee!!!!! You found an apartment? Good for you. Show us the floorplan.
Village Idiot - the Westside Cottage is sort of the Michelle Kwan Shrine. They are so patient with us. Glad to hear from you.
MikeNYC - we need a concrete reason for having a gathering. You're it.

We'll have to wait for other respondees to see if someone comes up with alternate dates or locations.
I'll be so glad to see everyone again. I hope Mike can get Tim to at least stick his head in the door.

Come on everybody. It's a long wait until Campbell's and Skate America. Let's get together now.

Darn, I'll be on vacation from the 13th to the evening of the 21st (well, I'm happy about vacation, but I hate to miss everyone). Be sure to take some pictures so I can enjoy them vicariously at the next get together (Campbell's baby!!)

Great idea, Dell! I'll have out of town guests (2 people I used to teach with) the weekend of the 21st, but I could bring them with me. How could they not enjoy meeting you guys?! Or they could go site-seeing on their own.
The 14th is vacant. So either one is okay with me.

Mike, how was the ballet? Still can't believe I ran into you across from Lincoln Center the other night. So cool - the Forum is everywhere!

MikeNYC
June 6th, 2003, 10:42 AM
Sonna: The ballet was terrific! (Romeo and Juliet) I hadn't been in a year, so it was nice to go again.

Belladella: I'll bring your camera.

Also, everyone - I have tons of extra pictures/copies from Worlds and Bridgeport that I'll bring w/me and you can pick out which ones you'd like. I've been working on my photo albums the last few nights, so I've kept the ones that I want.

I'll wait to hear where we're going, but you know me, I'm always selfishly fine w/Westside Cottage. :D

Garden Kitty: I'm really sorry. If we move the date we would have to go to July 5th. I didn't want to make the date too close to MikeNYC's departure date. And July 5th is part of the holiday weekend. So I'm not sure if that would be a good choice. Let's wait to hear from some others. I would love for you to be there.

Great idea Dell! (ah, you got my hint ;) )

Either day works for me -- 21st might be tight but I think I'm perpetually free that day (does that make sense? I've been at work too long...). And I'd be willing to give Westside Cottage another shot -- they've got a big menu!! (plus there's some sort of patisserie across the street that i still want to check out)

We'll miss you Garden Kitty!!

GardenKitty
June 6th, 2003, 12:39 PM
Dell, sorry I'll miss it, but I'll look forward to the wonderful reports people post after the fact. Heck, I ususally need those to tell me what was going on even when I was there in person.

Also, I sent you an e-mail on a different topic, so check your e-mail when you have a chance. Nothing urgent.

June 6th, 2003, 01:01 PM
The 21st sounds good to me as well, although I'm still not 100 percent sure. Also if anyone lives on LI in Nassau County, could you possibly e-mail @ katchrgrl9@aol.com. Perhaps we can arrange to go together b/c when it comes to the city I'm a complete moron and get lost just looking at a map! :-) Thanks! I'll try and comfirm my plans within a week!

P.S Just out of curiosity not like it matters, what is the approx. age group that is going. I don't really like to be the baby of the group (although I'm sure it won't be bad).

Hmmm...how much is a train ticket to NYC from upstate? lol I really would love to make this gathering, because I don't want to wait all the way till Campbell's Baby! The 21st is best for me as well. Doesn't matter to me where we go, I've never been to any of the places mentioned! I don't know if this is really doable for me, but I'll keep checking this thread, and maybe it will be!

Guys:

I'm not going to be able to attend. But for a good reason. My Dad and Mom will be coming up to the city that weekend, for a cousin's baby's christening, on Sunday, but on Saturday, my Dad and I will be heading up to the Westchester C.C. to see Tiger in the Buick Classic!

I went 2 years ago and had a blast, and also last year to the U.S. Open, but not w/my Dad. He's very excited about it, so I'm happy to go w/him for the first time.

Dell, I'll get your camera to you somehow, and I'll try and get a lot of the pix together to get to you guys somehow, ok? I'll check back for details on time, etc. and figure it all out.

I'm bummed that I'll miss you all. :\

Mandy - it's too bad your surprise party is the same day. The LIRR into Penn Station is a piece of cake. (I live just over the Nassau-Suffolk border). Westside Cottage is easy from Penn Station. Oh well, next time.

Mike - you get to see Tiger! An NYC Forum get-together without you is definitely not the same, but it's hard to feel bad when you get to see Tiger! I have an impossible crush on him. Remember every detail. Some of us will want a full report when you get back! By the way, glad you enjoyed Romeo and Juliet. The NYC Ballet was good too. I hadn't been in years and I was kind of regretting not choosing one of the classics, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was great!

I would love to come see all of you beautiful and wonderful people, but unfortunately I cannot attend. My best friend graduated from college at that is the date of her Graduation Party, so sorry, but I will not be able to make it.

Cannot wait until we all meet again :)

I might be coming to NYC anyways with a friend who wanted me to go with her. It's either the 21st or 28th. I'll check back later...

Bumping this up once more. Too bad Mike can't make it - but hope you have fun seeing Tiger! :)

NYFSFan- Hi - I enjoyed your photographs so much. IF you have new ones, I'd like to see them. Can't wait to see you. Whee!!!!! You found an apartment? Good for you. Show us the floorplan.
I'll try to bring all my photos I've taken (Nationals 2002, COI 2002, Skate America 2002, Nationals 2003, Worlds 2003) as I'm in the process of putting them all into plastic sleeves and archiving the whole collection in a big album.

My new apartment is actually in the same building I'm currently in, which is part of the same complex I've lived in for 3 years now. I'll tell you more at the lunch, belladella. The funny part is that, all this time, I've lived in the same apartment complex as The Village Idiot, but we didn't realize this until recently. :)

So I assume we're still on for this Saturday, June 21st, around 1:00pm at the Westside Cottage?

Hey Dell -- I might have a guest with me, if that's ok. We made tentative plans for her to stay with me for the weekend, and I told her I had a luncheon, but that she was welcome to attend. I didn't tell her what the luncheon was for -- but she knows I'm a kwanatic, so I'm not worried! Plus, she totally reminds me of Michelle :)

Hi everybody. I'm glad you're keeping this thread alive. I've been without a computer during the day, and my evenings have been spent eating prime ribs or salmon at retirement parties, farewell parties, promotion parties and the like. (My clothes don't fit me now and I feel like a bloated blimp from all of these banquets) anyway I;m glad to see that the thread is going on. I can't wait to sit down to one of our three hour lunches and talk with all of you again.

I found this review of Westside Cottage II. Beware, there is another Westide Cottage near 52nd Street. Ours is between 47th and 48th Street.

Do they really have free wine? I know they have delicious free walnuts.

This time it was the Intimate ten/ twelve (because Tim and Mike) dropped in briefly.) The attendees were Bella della, NyFSfan, Village Idiot, Graciesfriend, Bagelpuss, Katializ, Schez, Cats9989, Goldblossom88, and Valentin BD.
It was a cold drenching rainy day in New York and whew, we made it in, but inside was all warm and cozy with conversation of Michelle, Michelle and Michelle swirling around the table. It was another three hour lunch, where we looked at all these amazing photos of the View, Vincents amazing photos and Graciesfriends portable shrine to MK (her beautifully decorated photos). Dell as always made it so interesting. and of course. lots of smiles and hugs!
We reminisced about the amazing season we had just witnessed, and went around the table talking about the one moment or moments which will last forever and made us cry.
The funniest moment was when the unsuspecting waiter thought he was being nice and taking one group pic of us, but
looked down to the table only to see six more cameras lined up for him!
After leaping over the raging curbs of Manhattan to get home, I'm already looking forward to the next one :)
