View Full Version : 2003 Skate America Attendees- Update

There seems to have been some movement in ticket payment for Skate America. I checked my credit card bill on line and saw that there was a charge from Sovereign in the amount of $140. This was about a week ago. I think a couple of others have also seen the charge on their bill.

Has anyone else has noticed this ticket payment charged to their credit card? Let me know - please. I've written to the group sales office but Pam has not responded. But, maybe my messages prompted her to start processing our tickets.

Another favor - my home computer crashed, and my office computer is operating (?) in safe mode only. So I am without a computer of my own at the present time. But worse than that, I have lost all of my email addresses. So if someone has a Skate America communique with the addresses of the entire group of attendees, could you please, please send a group email so that I can update my address book when my home computer is repaired (hopefully this evening). Thanks

Hi Dell,
I'm due for a bill from the card I put my SA charge onto so maybe I'll see something soon. I did get a call from someone last week asking for the expiration date of my card so I took that as a sign that a charge would be coming soon.

I'll check my archives and see if I have an old e-mail with everyone in the group.

See you tomorrow!

I just sent an e-mail to the group list - hope this is what you wanted. I had saved the instructions on ordering the tickets. See you both tomorrow night.

Hi Belladella -- I faxed my order in a week or so ago (after I talked to a guy at Sovereign Center and asked him a bunch of questions), and it showed up on my credit card over the weekend. Now, I just have to keep my fingers crossed that he followed my "instructions" about seating. So glad you're going!

I didn't get tickets with the group, but I did order tickets the day they went on sale. My mom's credit card was charged in late Feb.

liz-Here's the official site for Skate America (if you click on schedule, you'll see a great picture of Michelle.)
www.2003skateamerica.com/ (http://www.2003skateamerica.com/)

There's a phone number listed under tickets. I guess you can call and ask for group sales (I think the group talked with Peg?) I know the group faxed their order to her and wrote something on the form. Obviously someone who ordered the tickets through the group would have more info. I did see that the arena's site says the VIP section is sold out now.

My credit card has been charged three.

I wonder when we'll find out where our seats are? Anyone know?

I was a little worried because my cc bill comes around the 15th of every month, and it had not been charged, but I checked my transactions online and it was charged :) Who'd a thunk one would be so happy over a credit card charge? hehehehe :SE

ValentineBD, Even if you can't get tickets with the people that ordered earlier, you should still come if you can. A lot of us will be there so there'll be plenty of opportunity to hang out with everyone wherever your seat is, and who knows when SA will be so close again.

Is anyone out there planning on buying single event tickets? I live in So. Jersey (and have to work the weekdays, unfortunately), so I was just planning on buying tickets for the Saturday events when they go on sale May 1st.

I haven't been to a SA before, so I was just wondering if anyone knew if the single event tickets could be decent (view-wise)?

Verbalgirl77-I live in South Jersey too. :) It seems to me that Skate America is never fully attended, so I would bet that you can get decent seats when individual events go on sale.

Hi Heather!. I remember you from the days of Prodigy and 'Plus Time.' Ugh. I'm glad the WWW has advanced since then.

I looked at the seating chart and while the VIP seating is right by the ice, there is a lot of good center ice seating up for grabs behind that, which is all I'm really looking for.

Verbalgirl77-Oh no way, you were on the old Prodigy FS BB too? Wow, that was a *long* time ago! And yes, the internet has changed greatly since then. ;)

Yep, I'm sure you'll get good seats, even without it being in the VIP section.

Yup. I went by my real name there (Teri) but didn't post a lot. But I recognize a lot of the posters' names and occasionally see them on other posting boards and newsgroups (Sandra L., Trudi, Jennifer Lyon, Carla Correa, etc.). It's funny.

I'm excited about SA. I can't we have to wait 6 months for it!

Thanks to everybody who sent me the group list. Now I don't have to enter all of the names individually.

About hotel reservations, I believe that all of us have made reservations at:
Lincoln Plaza Hotel
100 North 5th Avenue
Reading, PA 19601.
The Group Sales Director is Jan.
The telephone number is 1-800 372-3710.

ValentineBD I think you can get tickets on your own. We all ordered VIP tickets so we'll be seated in the first "X" number of rows. I don't know if they are the first three or four or five, etc. rows. I'm sure there will be lots of empty seats as Heather says so that you can move around and maybe end up sitting with us.

Thanks for the info Belladella!
I will start looking into getting tickets on my own then because it sounds like fun and it is pretty close by like Garden Kitty says.

I'm still waiting for the Sovereign Center website to post info about single-event ticket. I signed up for their update list.

If anyone happens to notice that single-ticket sales have started, if you can, please post it in this thread.

Thanks!
I'm already so excited.

According to the skate america 03 website, individual tickets went on sale May 1, but I know in another thread someone posted that they had a difficult time reaching anyone to purchase tickets on May 1. Can't hurt to try. Here is the skate america website page for tickets

www.2003skateamerica.com/tickets.asp (http://www.2003skateamerica.com/tickets.asp)

They say they are also on ticketmaster, but I didn't see them listed there. You may want to call the box office at the number listed on their tickets page.

I just want to let EVERYONE know that I went crazy on the 1st trying to get the best individual seats. finally on the 2nd I called the box office and the man who answered told me that the only tickets on sale at this time were the all-event tickets and the individual tickets would not go on sale untill sometime in Augast. So. if your like me and want good seats, you'll have to wait for individ. unless you wanna pay for the all-event.

Hey!!! will there be enough seats with the group so that if I get a seat and it sucks, I can move up to where the group is sitting? I have to know what to do if good seats come along.. and also if bad seats come along. ya know what I mean?

Angels, I'm not sure what you mean but I'll make a stab at answering what I think your question is. Belladella put together a group purchase of tickets for Skate America months ago (I don't even remember at this point). IIRC, there are 20 people in the group (which was the minimum number in order to get a group discount). So this particular "group" is closed. Of course, there will be lots of other members of the MKF who will go to Skate America and they will make their own arrangements. Lots of people are waiting to hear if Michelle will be there before they commit to buying tickets, I imagine. We don't know where the group seat are yet (at least I haven't heard where they are). So as to whether or not you'll be able to move up and sit with the group, I have no idea if this will be possible.

Hope this helps.

If any of you can't afford tickets, or missed out on VIP tickets but still want to get up close to the skaters, you should sign up to be volunteers.
I know that there has not been an overwhelming response from adults (over 17) to volunteer. This is a great opportunity to get to see the skaters up close. And you can pretty much guarantee that you'll get close to at least some of the skaters.
College students that have time during the day could be a great help. It's always hard to find volunteers to work during the day (people don't like to take off work).
If interested, you can pm me, but put something in the subject line so that I know it's about skate america volunteers, or I'll delete it.
