As if Things Weren't Bad Enough, Russian Professor Predicts End of U.S.

I wonder about this, especially when I see all the infighting here.
How about reading the article before commenting. It's a bit sobering.

Well, madison, that certainly made for some thoughtful reading. While there is no doubt in my mind that the US will never be what it once was, I think it can achieve a state of peace within itself even if it isn't this dominating super-power. And perhaps that is better. I can't predict the future, and I won't venture to either, but for the US to dismantle the way this man "illustrates" in his reconfigured map appears too much of a stretch for me.
But only God knows the future for certain.
ETA: People will always fight and argue and see things differently. People can learn to speak intelligently about their differences or look down on each other. It's an individual choice which either empowers or ruins a group, generation or population.

I think his map is oversimplified. And I think he doesn't know us all that well, if he thinks Alabama will be part of Mexico, and Florida will not be annexed by Cuba.
And Louisiana? Once Canada breaks up, la République Québecoise will annex the southern part of Louisiana, and rename it la Nouvelle Acadie.
So I think his map is off, and I honestly think the American People are too apathetic - and too lethargic - to actually hold a civil war. :P

Jerry, all good points on that prediction. I especially loved your last point about lethargic Americans. We can't even get up to change the channel, lol. Just kidding, guys.
Since we're on the topic of predictions, here are a few more I found today on yahoo finance:

I don't put too much stock in his theory. According to his theory where I live would be under Chinese control. I just don't see that happening!

6. Dollar to Outstrip the Euro
The euro will fall to 0.95 cents versus the dollar in the New Year, before shifting direction and rising to 1.30 cents....When I went to Europe in 2002, the rate was about 99 or 95 cents American to 1.00€. In 2004, when I left here it was about $1.15/€, but by the time I was ready to come back, it was closer to $1.25 and I was overdrawn due to the changing exchange rate. It was worse than that by the time of my 2008 trip.
So: I want the €uro to drop viz-a-viz the dollar, so I can more easily afford a trip by the end of 2009. I really really wanta go back to Vienna.

So do I, Jerry. I've got a trip planned for Europe this summer, God willing, and this prediction would help me a lot. :silly
